I grew up in the 80's listening to this singer on the radio. I agree with all the comments on here. He deserves more credit for his singing style and delivery. An underated singer who should be remembered as one of the best of his generation!!!
You 186 people that don’t like this pure country music ,what do you like ,singers that run ,screaming ,dress like their working in the barn ,sorry go listen to something else ,other then our pure country music .All these people that post this music that tells a story Thankyou ,for letting us listen to it.
This is one of the finest songs ever written. It reminds me of my dad, Hank Keels. He grew up in a sharecroppers cabin in Trinity County, Texas during the 1920s and 1930s. In my mind's eye, I can see him listening to the radio, looking over the fields of cotton, fishing in Caney Creek with an old cane pole and walking to to school with his older brother, Bill. I'm 71 years old and my dad has been gone for 36 years . The winds of yesterday frequently blow on me.
''By the music that a man loves, one can tell the very texture of his soul.'' This song and ''My Youth Of Yesterday'' are equal and Boxcar Willie's best.
This guy Boxcar Willie -- can really sing country. His control, tone, and sincerity are marvelous. The band of musicians he has behind him -- all superb. This man was no novelty act. Except for wearing his hobo clothes, he was not hokey. He was the real deal for traditional country. This song is great. He had some success in his career but I think he deserves to be recognized at a higher level.
What a beautiful song. Reminds me of my Grandmother. This man can really sing and I just know that today he walks among Heavenly Angels in the Kingdom of the Most High and sings to the King Himself.
Boxcar he can sing country music he is the best I played his music for four hours none stop when you listen to him like he is sending a message to all those that love country music he is love but he is miss God bless his soul he was a great man💐🌹🌷🐍
I sure do miss the 70s, 80s and 90s. The music🎷 today is not even the same. Sometimes I wish I could find a time machine and go back in time. Life was much easier and everyone enjoyed life! Is this your favorite song?
Good singing willie you are a great 👍 country singer 👨🎤 love ❤️ your voice it’s amazing how much I appreciate you and listen to music. Thanks 😊 it’s still fun singing along with you I’m 72 yrs old and I’m still kicking it god bless
Great song. Box was one of the finest singers of classic country! Not a true CMHOF without Boxcar Willie. As good as any male singer in there, and better than most!
I couldn't agree with you more ! His style, grace, and voice is one that cannot be duplicated. I am sure he sits with Angels in his Heavenly mansion daily and sings and sings.
Best of the best country singer...Winds of yesterday are blowing on me when i hear him...God Bless us all with more beautiful music from good genuine kind sweet Godly men & women....

I rode the rails one summer, I was 15 then,,, One has time to think, reflections upon life and values. I came away from that summer with a outlook of "What was right was not always best and what was best was not always right".
Just came across Boxcar today, at my age too! It just goes to remind me that there are still brilliant, ok people out there even in these troubled times.
Boxcar played a gig here in the Pocono Mnts of Penna back in the 70s. After the show, we invited the whole band back to my Cabin fer some burgers & beer. And the Band played On, Miss him Deeply
