@@kafiluz4317 Perhaps. I bought a new Model 3 last month and have subscribed to FSD. As I said, it is amazing; but it has a long ways to go. When I see reviewers gloss over issues it irks me. I want FSD to improve, and I don’t think that can be done by ignoring reality.

@@fedderd Ignoring reality includes, not to accept, that the neural approach is less than one year old. There will be improvements. But since FSD 12.4 is not based on FSD 12.3, it' doesn't make sense comparing polished 12.3.6 with unpolished 12.4.1 that only a very few users have right now for certain reasons. Many people like me weren't hyped by hardcoded V11 that was based ond buggy V10 / 9. From now on it's mathematical, not mainly development skill based anymore.

@@kafiluz4317 v11 was supposed to be the long awaited single stack. It may not have been end-to-end neural nets, but I don’t get how v12 suddenly separated the stacks again. This was done on the down low and to this day I am not clear why they separated again. Everyone is giving the merge issue a pass because it’s the separate highway stack. As if it’s obvious why it made that mistake. But as an FSD driver since Oct 2021, this really bothers me, because it’s supposed to be single stack. We waited a long time for that to happen before v11 came out.

I too enjoyed your reporting and editing of your video. Please don't be discouraged by the lack of followers, I now subscribed. And please Tesla advertise!! The merge situation is pretty important. It probably hasn't learned it because it hasn't learned what happens if you don't heed the signs (in other words the computer is ignorant of the negative consequences). Hope your example adds to the inference database.

More notes about merging and other lane change behavior, with 12.3.4 and 12.3.6.
    1) I have found it important to have my foot ready to accelerate when merging back into the travel lane after passing a car, in case the car starts merging back too close to the passed vehicle. This usually happens when there is a vehicle close behind me in the passing lane.
    2) Ego seems to be turning into exit lanes pretty quickly, but often fails to signal (for instance exiting I-459 N, exiting to I-280 in Alabama.)
    3) Ego turns several feet later than I would when exiting the highway from a non-exit-only lane to an exit, to the degree that I worry if it is going to turn even though it is signalling. I generally just take over to make a gentler exiting turn.
    4) When merging, I don't mess around. At the very least I stay ready to accelerate or brake, and if there is any traffic around, even a lane or two over, I'll take over and merge on my own.
    5) There are several places on the interstates where I typically drive which require moving across multiple lanes to reach travel lanes after an interchange. Too often, FSD will merge ok, then just sit in an intermediate lane, even with me turning on the signal to continue over. So once again, I cancel out and move over manually.
I remember, maybe from my Drivers Ed class in the early 1970s, that making too many lane changes too close together can lead to a wreckless driving ticket, so maybe FSD is biased to limit the number of lane changes it will make in a short time, but I don't think that can apply in a situation where if you don't make those lane changes quickly enough you can't safely reach the travel lanes on the road you wish to be on.

  • @jayahn123
    @jayahn123 3 місяці тому +1

I may be wrong but the lane that is losing its lane is suppose to yield. Therefore it was Tesla's fault, imo. And my FSD 12.3.6 does too many of random and repeating mistakes for me to use the FSD!

Definitely FSD was in the wrong. Moving over to let people merge is polite but definitely not obligatory and you should never drive assuming that they will. Hopefully they'll add the ability to read signs soon; it shouldn't be massively difficult to do that, especially as those signs were clear and not at all obscured or damaged.

Although it's true FSD handled the merge poorly, and should have merged earlier when it was clear, you can see that the other driver came up along the Tesla, and then slowed down to stay alongside, blocking it from merging.

Many times when I have used FSD (V 12.3.6) on the highway, without the passengers' knowing, they have said they were getting car-sick from the uneven braking and acceleration. Of course, this may be due to the geography of where I drive (many hills and curves), but I can't afford to move to Rio Linda.

Putting words like fsd, tesla, betatester, 12.4.1 would improve the number of people watching.

I think sometimes when Elon says something that others conclude as a lie, they should ask themselves how might he have been speaking the truth to the best of his knowledge at the time of the statement. In this case, I think that you and other critics may not have thought it through but in your defense I have to say that Elon often doesn’t clarify his statements. When you say that his claim of a 5-10 times improvement, what actually might prove him right when you look at what happened to the previous version, 12.3. When it first came out it had lots of improvements needed. By the time it got to 12.3.6 it was much improved over its initial release. In the same way when you compare 12.3.6 to 12.4.1, I don’t think that is a fair comparison because you have not waited for the refinements of 12.4.2, 12.4.3, … maybe 12.4.6 and then pronounce judgement and if it falls short of 5-10x better you can reasonably conclude that Elon’s estimate was wrong but don’t assume it was a lie. I did enjoy your video and appreciate your insights in general!

Speaking of that merde... I mean merge, again... I've noticed that many drivers tend to pace the cars around them, I've even caught myself doing it if I'm not paying attention to the driving. I don't know why, but assume it is some sort of normal human behavior. It doesn't require any malice on the part of the other driver to have boxed you in like that, it may have been intentional, but I think it more likely to have been lack of attention, is all.

_I'm very disappointed that Elon lied another lie_
Two issues. First, it's not *this version* (v12.4.1) Elon claimed would be 5X to 10X better in terms of miles per intervention, it's v12.4; so Tesla has v12.4.2, ... , v12.4.6(?) to make good on this prediction.
Second, a lie is a *deliberate* misstatement. Unless you know that Elon was aware that this prediction was false when he made it-and I don't see how you could-and even if the final version doesn't achieve the predicted improvement, it's still not a lie; but at worst a prediction that turned out to be incorrect.
