Collembola or Springtails.

- These tiny insects are feeding on algae growing at the edge of the pond on the black liner. They have been present all winter but their numbers have increased as the temperature has risen. They have an appendage under their body which can fire them away from danger, hence 'springtail'. At this size the surface tension of the water is a thick skin they can move across. At maximum magnification only part of the insect can be in focus. It is possible that one collembolan in the film is parasitised by a mite. Some authorities consider springtails to not be true insects.

With music, this seems like a quiet little town in a rpg game. Quite soothing
I love how the apparent dirt specks, much smaller than the frog who first gets our attention, turn out to be a tiny village of sorts. Excellent resolution to capture such small creatures, especially the baby ones - so precious!
They are so freaking cute!! wtf are they so adorable.. 🤣
What a peaceful little world
The 'parasitic mite' is actually a male springtail of the same species, carried by the female.
Thanks for info. Will do an edit.
Do they bite people?
@@childofgod7203 no they don't
What species is that? I've never seen a globular springtail where the male is that much smaller.
@@rdizzy1 I think it's Sminthurides Aquaticus
I have a lot of these around my house and I didn’t what they were until now. They are so small that it’s hard to describe them but I’m glad I know what they are now. They seem super peaceful so we will live in harmony :)
Thank you for this great little video!
Awesome video! I have lots of these critters jumping around on my aquarium's waterline and was curious to find out what they were. They're actually cute, haha! Thanks!
Definitely gonna look more closely on my pond now! Love these guys
Beautiful Symphypleona!
They're so cute..!
Really love this! Narrate your next with music. That would add so much. They do look like a herd of grazing rabbits!
These are soo so cute and the music is perfect I cannot
Great camera work. David Attenborough should narrate.
Wow, beautiful! May I know what lense you are using?
Amazing footage. Music suits them so well. Theyre cute 😂
2:56 "Hey guys, check out my new hat!"
"Oh, that's disgusting, Jerry! Get away from us!" (jumps away)
wow what camera and lens did you use? great video!
Super cute.
I've just fallen in love with these little creatures...the cutest I've ever seen! 💟
Me 2
Wait till you find out how cool their skin is, completely waterproof, completely clean, almost impossible for microbes to attach to them. And the jumping is hilarious
@@mrdavman13 Yes, they are so, so cool…and the babies are so perfect 💜🌸💜
OMG! They are so awesome! It's incredible that u've noticed these little cuties!
Lansa Frost ..
Like mini herd of sheep on the algae.♡♡♡
Hermosos 😍🥰.
The genus is Sminthurides. What you see and think is a parasite in fact is a male specimen clinging to the female through its antennae. This is common behavior in the Sminthurididae family.
Thanks for comment. I keep meaning to edit the film to add this information.
So gosh darn cute
No, a banjo.
