- In this video you can learn a little about springtails. The footage I captured was of several globular springtails in their natural environment, with a few clips taken in a more controlled setup with more optimal lighting.

Have you ever seen a springtail before? What kind?😀⤵️
I’m British so I live in the uk I’ve only seen the white ones or the common springtails
What an adorable and fascinating species. Nice work, Peter!
Thanks Phil! They are cute:)
Cute little creature! 😎I didn’t know what a Springtail was!
Hehe now you do:))) Cheers
Springtails!! I used to be so afraid, but these days, i get excited to see them. They are amazing!!❤❤
That’s awesome Kerry!
Super photography 😍.
Amazing sharing.
Have a good day stay happy stay safe 💖
Thank you! You too!
Incredible! Thanks for a very helpful video.
Very welcome & thanks!
Brilliant video Peter 😊😊
Thanks mate, much aporeciated. Hope you’ve been well! Enjoy the weekend:)
The ability to spring forward in 10ms is INCREDIBLE, especially at speeds of 100Gs! Nature never ceases to amaze me. Fantastic presentation, my friend! I keep waiting to see your work on National Geographic 😃 Thanks for sharing!
Thanks buddy! They sure are skilled jumpers😀😀
Yet another amazing video Peter, congratulations 👏👏🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍
Thanks Alex!:))
I made an eco jar. Found a week later it's populated by springtails, some mites and a worm named Greg. Everything in there lives in harmony ATM. Keeping an eye on those mites though
Awesome work!😀👍👍👍
What lens are you using to shoot these tiny creatures?
Amazing focusing. Thank you very much for sharing ;)
Thanks a lot for your kind feedback! If you wanna learn about the setup, you should check out this video in which I explain: ua-cam.com/video/0NtRkroyezY/v-deo.html
Hope to see you around again! Have a great weekend!
Wow, I’ve never seen nor heard of this one. Interesting species and the fact that it’s not considered an insect. I would’ve never known 😂 awesome information shared about them, Peter!
Thanks bud, glad you found it interesting! Have a great weekend!
Go to the forest and turn around damp leaves!
Wow, man. Love it! Amazingly filmed, edited, and narrated.👏
Thanks bud, very kind of you. Hope your project is going well. Have a great weekend!
@@peterviragphoto It's a bit slower than anticipated due to needing to film other scientists outside my region! Hope it's done later next month but could need more time to prepare both Arabic+English versions + marketing.
@@Bo_Hazem I’m sure it’ll be awesome!👍🤞🤞🤞
Hey great video! I have all my plants in mineral substrate and i noticed that for some months now some really tiny black bugs were crawling around. I managed to capture them with my microscope and found out online they might be globular springtails. My plants don't seem to have any problem, on the contrary theyre thriving! Have u ever seen something similar and do you maybe know if they are beneficial mites or are bad for the plants?? Thank you 😊
Hi there Cathy. Thanks for watching. They are generally beneficial for plants because they help brake down organic matter in the soil and therefore allow more nutrients to be absorbed by plants. We have plenty of springtails in our backyard in the colder months, I mainly find them on our fig leaves. Check out this cinematic video I took of some here if interested: ua-cam.com/video/sEiZsrtVFlI/v-deo.htmlsi=qJ8TZCrKGn1tUVni
Cheers:)
@peterviragphoto thank you so much for your answer. The thing is I don't have my plants in soil but in mineral substrate (a mixture of lava rock, pumice and zeolite) so I think they might be go around 'eating' algae or similar stuff that grow around the little stones and they usually cone around when there's more humidity for example when i water my plants. I just hope they're not harmful and they don't spread in the house😅
They are harmless to humans as well but keep monitoring their population. Some can feed on the roots & leaves of seedlings.
I found those bugs before they were cute like the ants
Yep, they are cute as and tiny!:-)
Also very adorable 💜 ❤️ 💙 💚
Thanks. They are:)
I’ve spent a lot of time down on the ground looking at the tiny things… seen many springtails… never seen one ☝️ of these globular ones tho!
I’d definitely have confused it for an insect, long legs with hair, long hairy antennae, obvious visible eyes…
Thanks for watching and for your comment. I am fascinated by tiny things too:-) Have a great weekend
@@peterviragphoto you too buddy!
Glad I found your channel, it’s not the type of content I usually watch, I’ve never been into photo/video, but I can definitely see the appeal!
After watching a few of your nature based videos I get the feeling you’re knowledgeable enough that you could fill 30+ minutes of content on some topics.
I bet you have more interests than time to pursue them.
Subbed. Peace
Thanks a lot for your feedback & support, very kind of you! I have a little bit of knowledge about the subjects I capture, but always like to learn and share a bit of that when I can.Cheers
Great video. Gotta love springtails.
Thanks heaps, much appreciated. I’m fascinated by them too! Have a good one!
Those globular springtails look like little six-legged bunny rabbits - their body shape and their antennae are like rabbit ears, so cute!!
Haha yep, they are adorable!
So nice when a UA-camr accommodates my latest obsession. LOL! With the cold rapidly approaching here in Wisconsin, I've been searching for ideas of what to shoot when the bugs are gone. I found out these are around during the winter and have been reading up on them. Haven't had a chance to get out and look, yet, but I'm excited to try. Thanks for the video. I'm amazed at how well you kept focus on such a tiny critter.
Hey Michelle, thank you so much for dropping by! I hadn’t known much about them and was amazed to find so many even in the backyard, albeit have only seen 3 different species so far. Good luck with your adventures, I hope you’ll be able to find many & take some awesome shots! Cheers:)
I just found these little guys on the frog bit in my aquarium.
Managed to take a few out and put them in an old beta cup with soil and bark and leaf litter. Threw a couple pieces of frog bit in too since they seem to like it lol
Haha awesome! They love wet environments😀
This video was so awesome, thanns
Thanks heaps, glad you liked it!
Lovely video production!
Thanks a lot Glomerol. Hope you’re having a nice day:)
Awesome
Thanks a lot! I was just recording a new short macro film of them, super close-up. They are unreal:)
Amazing video Peter. I didn’t even know what a Springtail was to begin with. At least I learned something new today. Thanks for sharing the info mate 👍🙏
Haha that’s awesome:) I can’t find many around any more, now that it’s getting warmer. Cheers
Well I’ve just learned a heck of a lot about a creature I had never heard of before. Stunning. The facts are mind blowing Peter - what incredible little creatures! The G Forces - just wow
Another fantastic film - keep them coming
Thanks a lot Dave! They are amazing, that’s for sure! Have an awesome weekend:)
As always, simply amazing and informative. They are awesome!!! 😍💗🙏
Thanks John!:)
This is is some amazing information. I might have seen these before but had no idea what a springtail is haha. Thanks Peter
Thx mate, appreciate it!:)
Another banger Peter! Great job mate. 👌🏻🎞🎬 I have never seen a Springtail before. The cute looking ones, like these Globular ones you filmed, apparently only occur along our coastline here in South Africa. 🏝 I'll be sure to keep and eye out for them if I'm ever coastside again.😎
Thanks Dawie. They can be crazy small, especially the nymphs of some species😀Hope you’ll stumble upon a few & can capture some great shots! Cheers
What an interesting little creature! Great video Peter!
Thanks Juanita!
Please make more videos about springtails. I love the close ups. I recently found put about springtails and I wish I knew earlier. Soo many kinds literally everywhere! There are some really really cool ones around the world.
Hey mate, thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed! I’ll try and record some other species in the future for sure. Have a good one!
@@peterviragphoto please do more!
Fantastic shots of a really cool animal and great quick info 👍
We want more!
