I was only 4 or 5 when this came out, my brother use to play it back then, now I’m 56 and have been listening to it for the past 36 years after I discovered it again.
Graham Goble should be recognised as an oustanding composer and musician .He is outstanding. This is such a very clever piece of music.I just love it.Beautifully orchestrated as well.He has real talent ans always seemed so humble.Cheers to Graham Goble and thanks for posting this.
Chris Flannery brought me here, but i stayed for the music and the Sharpie culture. How did we not hear this song before Underbelly in the UK? Superb man.
One of my all time favourite songs out of Australia. Add Glen Shorrock, 2 yrs later, and you have LRB. A great memory hearing Mississipp.i live at Sunbury
This song has been cocooned in my memory since I was a kid in school in the early '70s. I heard it on the radio one morning before school, it's stayed with me ever since. Thanks Graham Goble for this memorable song and for posting it. :)
Me too brother. Yes... i realize you post five years ago but i just had to reply. Good years. Like you, this song cemented deep in my soul. Than i hear it decades later. What a feeling!
Yes I had the exact same experience when was a bout 12 or 13, except for me it listening to my transister radio (which we called trannies) in the dark in bed.
The birth of LRB,with the brilliant song writing skills and lead vocalist Graeham Goble, beeb Birtles, & drummer Derek Pellicci. Such a beautiful song to listen to. Brings back memories in 72 watching them perform in front of my fellow school mates at Preston Technical College!!
Some years ago I was watching a French drama set in a high class Parisian brothel of the 19th century. At a particular scene this song played and I recognised it as a song of my youth, but couldn’t recall who the band was. Some internet research gave me the answers. But according to Wikipedia the song got to no 7 in Aust but nothing overseas, so how on hell it made it into a French TV program I don’t know. The scene in particular the song was the absolute perfect fit, and actually added real value to the scene and not just mere accompaniment. For those that are interested the program is called Maison Close and the song features in episode one.
Its incredible to think Graeham Goble may read this..Thankyou for sharing your talent.Amazing.I love your music. So clever.Composert, musician,arranger,Singer.Incredible...Cheers to you.
Make way for the swimming naked girl.... Sorry, this sounded great. Just a funny bit of footage, an old fella in a tie playing violin, a huge crowd and sound, and a girl taking a dip. Gdluck to everybody
Hi Graeham, just wondering if you would mind tabbing the intro. I do a single note version but can’t quite discern the sliding chords. This song haunts me in a very good way - ethereal and timeless. World class. Like you new song. Just listened to it.

@@daryldaryl913 same here!
Incredible vocalist - LRBs most talented member by far. He wrote great songs, played beautiful 🎸guitar and sung magnificent harmony vocals.
a mesmorising song by it's lyrics and musical arrangements with a very peaceful setting that was Sunbury in January 1973..

Awesome
Nothing says rockin' orchestra more than shorts and long black socks! Great song, how good live was GG?
Orchestra sounds great, some might think it's a backing tape.
The orchestra is live. There were no backing tapes in 1972.
@@GraehamGoble Sorry Graeham, my mistake, I can see he's got the bow at an acute angle now. Sounds great! Thanks for all the great music
Ah...a gentler time..note the place not swarming with roided up security, and people just chillin!!!
And no selfie sticks!

Hi Cameron, please send your email address to contact@graehamgoble.com
Was not this the original incarnation of the Little River Band?
Intro by the late Ken Sparkes.
Love this song, performed so masterfully live by Mississippi. Better than The Eagles by a country mile!!
It's over all too soon -they could have stretched this one for at least another verse and chorus!
this is Young Alphonse Gangitano.......
Thats why we Got Lrb
Tick.
Who was the Lineup?
One synth could have done the job
Fantastic song!
