We are what we hate? I don't agree with that logic. It makes no sense. I will say, we may hate the things people do and that's okay, but we should never hate the person.
I think the logic behind Mike’s argument was sound and valid. Homophobia can be used as a shield, or defense mechanism for men who are struggling with their sexuality, because they hate feeling “abnormal”. They may also feel guilty for religious reasons, maybe their faith believes same sex attraction or acts of homosexuality to be a sin. They may also be fearful of of how their family and friends will react, will the be ostracized, judged, attacked etc if their secret got out. So to insulate themselves they will appear to hate the actions of the LGBQT so intensely that other people around them won’t ever suspect or question them. We saw this with senator Ralph Shortey, Pastor, Tom Brock and so many others.

I think Boosie would have been more reasonable if he was erudite or urbane with a moral compass that allows empathy even for a position or individuals he disagrees with. Dwayne Wade’s son is a child who wants to be a transgender which cannot be an easy decision for him or his father. Boosie is outspoken and no one rational would argue that his views should be censored but it should be expressed through a framework and tone of respect and moral empathy that recognise that a lot of individuals who are transgender are not understood by the everyday man and woman who cannot realistically be expected to understand as they have no training in the cognitive activities of such individuals who want to make the decision of having gender reassignment.
