personally i think jason fits in with that band, business is business and he learned that ever since born of osiris. they kicked him out because of his "endless bitching" of their abusive drinking and drug abuse. Of course jason put out some REALLY GREAT work in the making of The Discovery album BUT... Business is business and jason quote "with the departure of chelsea grin's lead guitarist, i was able to fill in and make the best of two very shitty situations" I've seen great progress on chelsea grin as a whole not just Jason himself. and that personally makes the band really successful imo. Jason from what i see really likes his bandmates and they're pretty consistent with everything from what i have seen so far. I love both born of osiris and chelsea grin, but I have to admit. Jason contributes about 70% of what I love to hear in both bands. But of course that's just my opinion. Chelsea Grin does deserve Jason. And Jason deserves Chelsea Grin.

I remember the first day I discovered polyphia (and you). I replayed this solo so many times, just completely in awe. At one point, I noticed my co-worker was staring at me, so I pulled out my headphones like, "what's up?"
He goes, "you alright man?"
Hahaha didn't realize how loud I had gradually increased the volume with each play through. Still blows me away every time.

Hank Hill It's very simple how. In the studio, you're using a metronome. When you're not using a metronome, as a guitar player, you tend to play everything faster than the intended tempo.
mcg413 True, only difference between Jason and most guys who rush is that Jason can actually pull the solo off while most guys (including myself) would be stumbling all over it.

This and Sweet Tea were the only ones I really got into. Felt like they were the only ones that really nailed the atmosphere they were going for. Wasn't digging the tremolo flutter in Aviator though.

Okay, so I have a theory. He purposely "messed up" at the very end to try to convince us that he isn't either a robot or some sort of wizard. I'm not convinced. The facial expressions are very human like but there is just so God damn way any human can play like this.

I always thought Lee was BOO's best guitarist but I was wrong, because all the attention he was getting. I mean Jason is just fucking crazy! This is almost unbelievable what he does here, how clean this is ! The real heart of BOO was Jason and we saw that by BOO's newest crappy album, it's a cookie cutter metalcore. Jason is a phenomenal player and Chelsea Grin is pretty lucky to have him in the band.
Umm, no. Cameron and Lee wrote most of The Discovery, just like they wrote most of the songs before Jason even joined the band. How do you explain the fact that The New Reign is a great album, even though Jason wasn't even in the band yet? But I do agree that the newest one sucks major balls.

Just learned how to play this (really really really slow) and after that "accomplishment" watching Jason's unbelievable clean crazy take on the solo makes me wanna forget I even own a guitar.. -.- well, on the other hand he shows that kind of awesomeness is possible for human being so maybe we all guitarists should just stick on that perspective and practice like he does.

Started listening to Polyphia thanks to this track when it came out, years pass and this solo is still so amazing, top 10 solos of the 2010's and tbh my personal fav
It's always comforting and such to watch a pro mess up, it's like: "hey, we all make mistakes, I may still a god, but we still make mistakes".
It especially makes me feel better, since I'm self taught and don't know what the flying f*** I'm doing

practice with a metronome to build your muscle memory. Alot of boring ass work goes into getting to that level but the payoff is whatever you can think of your fingers will be able to provide. For me playing phrygian dominant cleanly was a pain in the ass cause I don't play that much metal but you can get there within 3-4 months of practicing daily with a metronome. Also, once you get there you don't need to practice like that again unless it's some new scale pattern you're not familiar with but like learning languages the next scale pattern is easier to learn than the last. I hope that helps.

Oh. One more thing. Initially, you'll want to look at your fretting hand to ensure that your placing your fingers in the right place but force yourself to memorize those patterns by visualizing them and playing them really slowly till you nail the positioning consistently Once you get to that point slowly build speed. Also , make sure you 'understand' the note context so that you take some chances while you're playing to make it not sound like your playing scales. To play lightning fast and accurately you cannot be looking a the strings. If it takes 6mos or a year don't be discouraged because the payoff is worth a year of frustration. imho. In anycase you'll be better for it musically

Rodo Wnesi Initially, there are only 3 , maybe 4 , patterns you need to know. Blues/Pentatonic(minor and major) pattern, Major scale(Ionian, dorian, phrygian, lydian, myxolydian, aeolian, locrian) pattern and harmonic minor(and phrygian dominant) and finally diminished. Even with just pentatonic you can get alot accomplished.
You need to get a piece of paper and graph each manually so that the 'image' of the pattern starts imprinting in your mind from the get go. Also, because if you write something down it'll be more likely to be remembered.
For country and blues you'll be focusing on pentatonic(mainly minor for blues and mainly major for country)
For metal and spanish/flamenco style music you'll be focusing on aeolian , phrygian dominant with a sprinkling of minor blues , dorian, diminished and locrian
For classical style music you'll be focusing on major, diminished and harmonic minor.
Work on getting your blues pattern down first(5 notes hence 5 patterns)
Next work on getting your major pattern down(7 notes hence 7 patterns)
Finally work on getting your harmonic minor pattern down. In this case only harmonic minor and phrygian dominant matter. The rest you can ignore.
I don't know of a sight where you can print this off but you need to learn how to listen, pickout the scale being used and document that scale for later use. Remember that on guitar it is the pattern that matters and not so much the scale. WHY? Because the pattern will repeat whenever you start on either the low or high E strings. Finally, remember your patterns using interval notation(i.e. 1,2,3 to indicate the number of frets between one note and the next)
Anyway, this won't make much sense to you now but like I said start with the pentatonic pattern, play mostly major pent against country and minor pent against blues but it is typical ton mix the two in the same song. Since I am not sure what level you're at I am just recommending starting at the begining.
