Hi brother, the areas where you say the signatures are separating from the spine is actually just the head and tail bands that have come unglued a bit from the book block. The signatures are still in tact. You just need a dab of glue to connect the head bands again. I had the same issue years ago when I bought a premium calfskin ESV thinline. I contacted Crossway and they assured me it was only the head band separating but sent me a new bible anyway. But as for your cover liner coming apart like that, that’s pretty bad. I’ve never seen that happen with a synthetic liner before even with cheaper bibles. I read your comment though that you’re getting it rebound anyway which is a good idea as the text block is nice, the paper on your vid looks nice and opaque! Blessings to you.

Hey thanks for the heads up on the tailbands. Crossway did offer a new Bible upon viewing this video, and I am thankful for that. I bought a Large Print ESV (top grain) which appears to have fixed all of the issues that this Bible has, but it’s been sitting because I ended up sticking with the Heirloom that I showed in this vid. No new bibles for me anytime soon, and I’m no longer in any rush to re-bind this one tbh

I had the same exact issues with the head/tail bands on a couple Crossway ESV study bibles. I have older ones that seem to be better constructed then the more recent I purchased.

I have some of the same issues with this Bible. I see it on my shelf and it’s always the Bible I want to pull because like you said it’s a great looking Bible.
The leather has been fine, my liner came up so I re glued that back down, the one horrible ribbon that’s in it fell out as well as the top head band thing that meets the back of the block so I replaced the ribbon and glued that piece back in, the paper is horrible I have 20 dollar bibles that have better paper, the text and red letter is not at all consistent.
For me I am glad I didn’t pay 100$ because this is only worth 10$
Next month I am getting the heirloom personal size as a belated birthday present for myself.

I went ahead and put the Heirloom Personal into commission on the day that I made this vid, and I just finished the NT. It took a little getting used to, but I’ll be sticking with it. The cover and build quality are top notch but my only gripe is that the paper is not quite opaque enough. Besides that, it is a smaller bible, and Single column layout. Also, 9 pt font which isn’t horrible, but definitely on the smaller side

@@jayg5650ok that makes me excited about getting the heirloom edition. I don’t see very many reviews on the heirloom, the ones I do see all seem to talk about the paper being a little off. I think I will like it more that the buffalo one which I have sitting next to me on the couch haha. Thanks for the video though I like seeing others experiences and if they are the same or differ.

Oh, that should not be happening with a new Bible, especially since you are taking good care of it. If you don't want to take advantage of Crossway's Lifetime Guarantee, you could get it rebound and donate it. (If you can afford that.) Or maybe even donate it, as is, as long as you make it clear that it has these issues. For someone that can't afford a Bible at all, they might be willing to deal with it.

I’m going to get it re-bound. I’m going to have them pretty much redo the whole spine and edge line it properly. It’s just unreal to be seeing this issue so soon on a Bible with an actual leather cover

      Yeah, that's definitely a manufacturing defect. @@jayg5650

Is this the one with a 12 pt font and red letter?
If it is, I have the same one and agree that the inside (the type) is great, but the craftsmanship isn’t so good.

@@ginamiller6754 yup, this is the same one. I bought an heirloom a few months before this one though, and I have switched to that. Completely different experience, as it’s more than twice the price. The paper is a bit thin, but not a dealbreaker for me. They are actually 70 bucks on Christianbook.com right now, as it’s from 2019. It’s called ESV Heirloom Single-Column Personal-Size Bible. There’s a few reviews here on YT if you are interested.

      @@jayg5650thank-you 😊
I ended up buying a Schuyler ESV about 2 years ago. Expensive but worth it! Mine has an 11 pt font, but I heard the new ESV Q’s will have a 10 pt font. I prefer the 11 and wish they kept it.
I take my Crossway ESV when I go and I’m not sure I can baby it.
I wish they would make that format in the Heirloom. Something about the 12 pt font and the page size draws me in.
My Schuyler is very close and much better quality.
