As soon as I saw the profile of him, he's perfect. And again, Bologna under Motta were doing a lot of the same things Ten Hag did in his first season, it's why I'm fingers crossed that we go after Calafiori too, but I think we'll only get 1 player out of them.
He's the Weghorst type 9.5 that you can build a frontline around, while also being a better goalscorer than Weghorst. Which really suits the rest of our forwards, who aren't creative players. Bruno, Garnacho and Rashford all ended last season with more goals than assists, and Antony's shots per 90 is double his key passes per 90. They all ended the season with at least 1 more shots per 90 than Hojlund, which continues what we saw the previous season with Martial and Weghorst.
I said 12 months ago, if United need a striker, you need someone who fits the team. We wanted Kane who would have been perfect, didn't get Kane so went for a totally different profile of player. 12 months later, Hojlund with coaching is starting to maybe look like an okay fit, but we probably need different wingers to get the best out of him. But Zirkzee is the right fit for the players we have now, and I think he may play more than people think.
Great value is the trait shared between our top 3 targets. If we finish as we started we might have reversed the united tax in one window
I really can't believe Bayern got rid of this kid if I'm being honest. This would have been the perfect time for them to bring him into the squad and start after the year he had. Musiala, Zirkzee, Olise in the same would be wild

This seems like a signing you'd make if you're open to playing 3-5-2. That might not be a bad idea with Højlund sitting on the shoulder, Zirkzee dropping into midfield and maybe laying it off to Bruno. Could potentially play into the strengths of everyone

Zirkzee isn’t really a 9 or a goal scorer either. He’s a linkup type of player like Kane without the goals. Rasmus would want to play with him at least he’ll get passes. the wingers would prefer to play with him too, but he won’t score

There's an interview where Zirkzee says he'd love to play at the San Siro. I think United need to be forceful in changing his mind and do it quickly, because its a new regime, but its slowly becoming the same old same old. The window has been open now, and some deals have been done already. The longer this and other deals go on, the less likely i feel that they will happen.

Martial didn't focus on playmaking.. He scored tons of goals.
His issues were injuries and lack of physicality. He was easily robbed off the ball.

When I say “playmaking”, I’m referring to him being more a false 9 than a true 9. A connector of play.
I’d also suggest his physicality was one of his better traits.

I'm not even a Martial fan at that and I wanted him to leave the club but there are many factors at play here. And physicality is never one of his traits. He can't handle the physicality in the league. Though, he is sleek with the ball and has that goal sense if given the chance.
I'm not a Zirkzee fan as well because I barely watched him. But take it or leave it, we need another forward, we can't rely only on Hojlund and also we don't expect the club to buy the likes of Toney, Watkins etc because of PSR... And there are other positions to fill with money as well. So the people at the top have lots of work to do at that club, because it's crumbling.

It's a fckn disgrace that we currently have only one forward, Zirkzee, I haven't seen enough of the lad to give opinion but the one thing we must improve is creating chances, Rasmus was starved of changes last season and he'll score given the chance, need another two strikers possibly Zirkzee and I'd suggest an older professional that won't tolerate these fckn muppets like Rashford, someone who can raise some passion and fighting spirit.... if only we could turn the clock back and get Sparky!!

United fans need to accept that Zirkzee will be an undisputed starter from day 1. We saw the whole season last year and also in the Euros that Rasmus is not ready to be a starter, taking him out of the spotlight will also help him improve and develop.
What we saw last year was 99% off goals he had to make for himself.. Garnacho and Rashford never ever looked for him.. Denmark are pants are hardly created any chances for him also..

How do you know that? Hojlund is great too and they both young and the best thing about this transfer is they're completely different types of strikers. Different games will rely on Zirkzee more, others on Hojlund's ability. Some may need both. A good problem to have as a club.

Zirkzee offers much more than just finishing chances the way he drops deep and creates chances is nothing like anything we currently have in the team he will be invaluable for building attacks

Why is everyone raving about this guy? They watch a highlight reel and think hes amazing. He really isnt. His best ever scoring tally is 12 - TWELVE - goals. He doesnt even get many assists. Netherlands prefer to play with no steiker rather than Zirkzee.

@@mm2801 Again.... I did not talk about Hojlund, I didn't say I backed him and I didn't say 10 was more than 12. But I will say, he was 20 years old at Atalanta and was first choice for them. At 20 years old, Zirkzee played 4 games for Parma and didn't score. Hojlund is more developed than Zirkzee but 2 years younger.
I do agree with you about the excuses for hojlund though. It wasn't a case that people were refusing to pass to him. He was rarely in a good position to pass to and he doesn't time his runs well. But like I said, he's 21 - you expect that while he's learning.

He is not a United forward yet. I think he is kinda clunky and slow, has 1-2, plays from deep, so obviously will be bringing the wingers in... I just feel the guy's not United quality. But reverting to 442 in certain games will unlease Hojlund's pace and speed, Zirkzee seems to thrive on deep, as a 10, and then has a good through ball in him... a bit slow as a forward in my view... would prefer to promote Ethan Wheatley... remember, this guy is 23-24, Hojlund is around that age too... when is Ethan going to be brought in? So, consider that too.
Zirkzee has pace and better technical skills, dribbling, ball carrying two-footedness and creativity than Wheatley.
What worries me about united is we pinning our hopes on 2 dutch players who are 3rd choice in current national team. Weghorst is prefered to zirkzee. And de ligt dont get minutes either. Warning signs are there!

The fact that Wout Weghorst comes on for the Netherlands ahead of zirkzee who hasn't even got his boots dirty at these Euros says everything you need to know, he hasn't even played a minute to my knowledge ,what does this tell you about his ability in a poor Dutch attacking line up. It is rare for a replacement player to get much game time at a tournament because he has not been part of the core group!He is a future star for the Netherlands but is getting good experience training and getting used to the team.
He will only come on if there is an injury or suspension to Weghorst,Depay,Malen or Bergwyn! The 4 players ahead of him have lots more experience at club level or tournaments than Zirkzee!
This is not a defining tournament for him and we should not forget Ronaldo did not play a minute at USA '94 when Brazil won the World cup although everyone in Brazil or PSV knew about his talent and potential but he was not starting ahead of Romario and Bebeto!
