I would like to mention that apart from traditional plywood boards, there are few other materials like uPVC boards, ACP sheets and Stainless steel sheets used for interiors using aluminium or stainless steel frames. I am curious to hear your thoughts and opinions on these alternative materials.

What material and specifications are good for wardrobe shutters? Cost saving yet durable

go for bwr ply for the base + blockboard with duco / acrylic / laminate ( laminate is cheapest and durable with low maintainence. If you have budget for acrylic , then it will be the best as its durable and very luxury looking . Duco paint is also very good but may chip off from some parts later in its life requiring higher maintainence) on the shutters
Go for labour contract only and not with material as you can get material cheaper depending on your area and bargaining skills
