I think it's the great chemistry between you two that makes these videos so enjoyable. Nick's use of colorful language makes it authentic. Great adventure
Another terrific episode. It was fun to see the pre-Hurricane Irma Willy-Ts. I've always enjoyed BVI, especially before it became so trendy. Last time we were there the Baths were like being at the Sistine Chapel, it was so crowded. The boatfuls of snorkelers from the cruise ships didn't help. My English wife (the English Rose) says she's happy I'm bingeing a channel where "water" is pronounced properly. Cheers.
I've recently found your channel and I've really been enjoying your guys' videos. I loved the underwater footage in this episode and I'm looking forward to the next! :)
HI Guys, Just started watching your series. Fantastic. Great entertainment. On holidays in Gran Canaria staying in a Appartment at Puerto Mogan which is a lovely place. Just looking out a the yachts in the marina makes me want to set sail for the BVI. Best of luck with your adventures. Can't wait to see all your videos Bye
You “Saved us the Pain” of going to the Supermarket with you. 2:35. Again?? I always loved watching the the trip to the market, any kind of market....!! 😳😱🤭 AND, So this is the First video/time we have seen you “Go Diving” 😳🧜♀️👍. 16:44
Yes, another great video, very entertaining. Possibly one of these two, of this nice couple, has some experience in marketing, or entertainment profession, to make such quality videos. The average chump could not do so well. Now I am addicted to this vlog.....ha I like the sunset cocktails, cheers.
Haven't finished watching the whole video... just stopped at you being on the Willy T... The fun begins at about 10:30 pm... I've been there about forty times... the stuff I've seen! 😈 Ok... finished watching, you guys are doing an awesome job on your videos!! You guys are really good at this! Thoroughly enjoyed watching. Pirates is nice but overpriced! And I always check the bill, if there's a service charge I might add an additional 5 to 10 percent... I think it's a scam. Willy T has good food and it's far less expensive, my wife loves the ceaser salad! And was that turtle missing his port/aft flipper?
Great video. The BVI's look so very beautiful. Regarding service charges/tips here in the U.S., a 15% tip to the server is standard (no add'l service charge unless you have a large party). However, here in NYC where restaurant prices are very high anyway, some restaurants have gone to a "no tipping" policy so that back-house workers (cooks, bus boys, etc.) are able to benefit as well as the servers. The menu prices are higher and/or a service charge may be added. Hope this helps. If you make it up to NYC, please let us know! Would love to meet you. Peace & fair winds
What are you talking? what tips? You tipping in Walmart and Aldi as well? No. When you ordering a Kebab and hotdog you neither tip. When you going to bank to take money out you want give 15% cashier for doing her/his job. Stop tipping this just encourages to do the shit job by employees. They getting wages.
In the US there are currently loud arguments about service charges. Some big name respected (multiple) restaurant owners want to do away with tips, because the server usually keeps the whole tip. But a gratuity fee can be split with the back staff, and after all, the cooks and everyone else really do deserve a living wage too, don't they? And a reward for doing their best?
Great video once again. Would love a tour/ review of your boat. southerly's have always caught my eye but I have yet to get to see one up close. They seem to be a very well thought out boat but just judging from pictures and specs doesn't always give you the true picture.. Also the Ovni I guess would be the closest competitor to the southerly they are very different in many ways but are sort of aimed at the same category. Any thoughts about this would be greatly appreciated.
Oh wonderful thank you so much. That's great to hear, that you are so happy with your boat. Both of your opinions on your favourite features would be great. My wife loves the windows and view from inside personally I like the lines and the lifting keel. That really gives you the ability to tuck away in extremely well protected areas when the weather turns nasty. Some of the older Southerly's have a odd layout to the interior but the more modern ones seem to flow much better. I guess information on what other boats you looked at and what won you over would be great. Thank you Graham
In the states we tip 12 to. 20% depending on how good the service is the servers get payed around $1.50 to $2 dollars an hour or at least I do and in some places the servers gave to tip out the bus boys
Ah, so this is the episode (4:11) when the idea for the outtakes video was infamously verbalized. I don't think I was watching 'live' when this one first came out, but I wonder how many people realized that Terysa just hinted at some of the funniest damn videos they put out.
Top video guys, nice to see " Brit's" doing their part on UA-cam sailing videos. Was that a left handed guitar or mirrored image of a correct guitar? 😜
Very sensible, that. Or... you could've changed out your Union Jack for the French Tricouleur and told them to put out more fenders if they were so worried. Still, it's nice you're considerate of your neighbours.
First, what was it Terysa said? Cheers and good night? ! What an anchorage. Second, I noticed on your way up to the trail you used an "effect" that I want to say I first saw Casey Neistat use, which was one of you 'ran ahead' planted the camera, ran back, and then you walked to it like you were normally hiking. Excellent videography. Which was you did the deed?
Love Norman Island, The caves are great as are the Indians, Great scuba dive spot. I enjoyed Pirates Bight. Dont let them BS you about the Tip. If they add 15% then that is it. Dont pay anymore.
Seems every year they have new staff. Some are awesome. Some not so good. So it is hit or miss. The ribs are the best thing they do. The food on the Willy T is actually better.
I know that bay. I am so envious sitting here in Canada. But our spring launch is only 43 days! With respect to service, did you not find the same thing on the French side of SXM?
Came back to some of your original vids (saw some 'recent' ones when you were in my home town Sydney) just surprised at how few medium to large sized fish there were in the BVI underwater shots back then. Judging from some of the other sailing youtubers it seems this is increasingly common in many parts of the world where there is not close governmental oversight of catch volumes/sizes. Particularly worrying that large, reproductive-age fish are not protected such that they guarantee the survival of the fish populations into the future...but hey, if your family's hungry, who cares what the comfortable westerners think! But it does matter.
Yeah. The world is crazed about things that cannot be changed like increasing CO2, but things humans can control, ie, managing fisheries sustainably, we do not do. Crazy.
At 6mins 40secs might just be the most perfect at anchor shot ever. Sweet. Another nice vid. One thing I don't understand is over 20,000 views and only 500-odd people could be bothered to click the like button. Lazy bastards. If I could do more than one like, I would.
enjoying the videos , thx. agreed about the service charges , totally bogus. btw interested to see grocery prices ... are you going to scuba? perhaps a spear gun. it will give you a chance to be selective while eradicating 'lion fish'. again many thx, cheers
In the BVI's the minimum wage is only $4.00/hr. (This will rise to 6.00/hr on October 1st.) A restaurant worker relies on that tip to make a living. You commented on how expensive the BVI's were. Well it's expensive for the people living there too. Not just the transient cruisers. Although it's not legal in some resorts the local residents are so desperate for work they work for free and live solely off of the tips they receive.
Interesting... In US we don't have a service charge only a tip. The tip goes directly to the employee 95% of the time. The rest of the time it gets split between all of the workers.
Don't start me on service charge, oops too late! As an Aussie (G'day T) we tip for good service. 10% for average service, more if its great. However if it's crap - Zip and you deserved every cent. I hate being told how much I have to pay so you (the proprietor) can pay your staff and then have to tip too. Surely the cost of staff is a cost that you cover when you set your food prices. The Customer is not given the option to serve yourself at the bar or counter are you? Nothing ruins your day more than a huge service charge followed up by a request for a tip. By the way if you ask for a tip you get half what I was gonna pay. That said, loving your series. Nick you are the quintessential wise-cracking Gent and Terysa, the thinking man's "Elayna" Hope you don't mind the tongue in cheek comparison, Fair winds and following seas.
Sailing Yacht Ruby Rose agreed but at that rate clearly the service charge is NOT going towards wages. Tips for good service is warranted but seriously, the service charge is a rort .
Most waiters and bartenders don't make an hourly wage in the Caribbean or USA. They work solely for tips and gratuity. You pay the owner for the food/drinks and you pay (tip) the server/bartender for serving you. As I understand Australians and U.K. Wait staff and bartenders make quite a hefty wage as well as provided health insurance as well? Caribbean and USA neither of these are true. Waiters and bartenders have to cover their own insurance ($2,000 a month) and they don't make any wage, if they do it's $2 maximum.
Hi Rick, We have no issue with tips, totally understand how that works. The main grip is the "Service Charge" which is levied on the customer to pay for the service you receive (I guess) . This however goes to the house, not the server. Surely the house should have this cost of supply in his price, don't you think?
David H. Oh! Wow! Yeah that's pretty much a scam. That doesn't go on in the states. It kind of seems like you could say "yeah I agreed to pay the $7.99 for the sandwich. I'm not paying the service fee" and walk off. But then again, that's the American in me. That may be frowned upon in another country. I have no issues tipping. But there's no way in hell I would pay any service fee that went to the house. Not a chance.
What 2$/hour? Damn that makes my blood boil. Why do we accept shit like that? I'm not going further into politics BUT I must say: If you work 37,5-40 hours a week, in any kind of job you should with absolutely no exceptions earn enough to have a decent life. 2$/hour is a bad joke, it's a shame.
I've seen every inch of the BVI's from all the sailing channels.......the only reason I watch your vids is because she reminds me of Elizabeth Shoe and doesn't wear a ton of make up that makes her look like a clown.......your video's have that natural feel where a lot of channels have that forced "production" look.......good work !!
Fun fact: just in case you go to the USVI's bare in mind the murder rate there is one of the highest in the world. Only Honduras, El Salvador, and Venezuela are higher. Agreed, been there numerous times and felt very safe. Same can be said for Puerto Rico. Don't believe many of the things you read. Awesome place and we bought a small home there to make our home base. Bueatiful people, and always made us fell like family. ;)
GreenJelloHell , it is out of control on St. Thomas and St. Croix, good thing is they are just killing one another... St. John is very nice and is more in line crime wise as the BVI
I think it's the great chemistry between you two that makes these videos so enjoyable. Nick's use of colorful language makes it authentic. Great adventure

Wonderful video. Beautiful shots of the Islands. Enjoying your videos very much. Thank You.
Love the BVI. Did bareboat charters in the 80's . Much different then.

Terysa, you really have that 'mermaid' form down pat! Lovely.
Fantastic snorkeling shots! 👍👍

Brett ~ You’re half right: Nick is indeed a “Brit” as you say, but Terysa is an “Aussie” ... and a fine one at that!
Another great video ! How do you feel about a boat running a generator all night for air conditioning ?
Curious why you decided to do the stern line ashore vs. picking up and re-hooking at a better distance? Thanks for posting!
LOL well, I appreciate the honesty!
Very sensible, that. Or... you could've changed out your Union Jack for the French Tricouleur and told them to put out more fenders if they were so worried. Still, it's nice you're considerate of your neighbours.

After binge watching for 8 episodes and 8 mojitos later, I think Nick is rude and random on the Ruby Rose. LOL
Yeah......yeah......oohhhh yeah....What condition my provision is iiiiinnnn!

Who wants to pay to watch a tart flashing her stretch marks ?. :-)
Is your boat for sale? Looks like one on YW. If so whats the plan?
Sailing Yacht Ruby Rose Single or Multi hull future?
