Deryck Guyler played Norman Potter who was the caretaker in Please Sir. Mr Price was the Welsh school teacher. You Americans should pay proper attention to the series and get your facts right.
Carol of course played Sharon, the class bombshell, but the first Sharon (in episodes up until 1971) was played by Penny Spencer, equally bombshell. Both still look great in their mid-70s.
Loved this as a kid and it was always on early enough for me to watch as a nine or ten year old. Many may also recognise Joan Sanderson from a cameo she had in Fawlty Towers as the awkward guest with the hearing aid? And it's "Zed Cars" as the vast majority of world would pronounce it.
She played Mrs Alice Richards. It wasn't a cameo role as she was central to the whole story line, it revolved around her character. Cameo means a brief appearance.
Derek Guyler was also a very enthusiastic wargamer, belonging as I did to the Society of Ancients, which was and is dedicated to research into ancient warfare and fighting battles from the safety of... the tabletop. Saw John Alderton as a distressed army veteran in Heartbeat.
Erik Chitty did Not die on July 22nd, 1970. He appeared in Doctor Who - The Deadly Assassin , which was transmitted on BBC1 in 1976! Get your facts right and do your research properly. He died on July 22nd, 1977.
Derek Guyler's character was Mr. Potts, not Price. Miss. Yule was the deputy head, not the headmistress. Mr. Smith was a history teacher. Mr. Price was the science teacher.
Blimmey i can honestly say every cast member was absolutely brilliant and necessary which made it work Joan WAS my favourite because I had a boss identical to her which no long tea ☕ breaks 😂 cheers Stephen 🍀✌️👍
Love John alderton with his wife in upstairs down stairs .no honestly , forever green he was also in film calender girls and him and his wife Pauline Collins also in coffee ads he was also in Thomas and sarah
😂🤔 I remember this comedy series as a boy 👦 here in New Zealand. Very clever and funny back in the day. I watched an old episode recently, sadly so dated now !......
Dated? Well, aren't we all, Alan? ;0) I suppose every dog has his day. Now, thanks to VPN, I drop in on NZ television and see things from the antipodean viewpoint.
Its amazing really a ll this cast were old school actors of high quality for many years before the huge coverage that this series got made them household names in those years and as another respondent says Joan Sanderson will forever be thought of for that part the old bat in Fawlty towers the power of Television was then at a height we will not see again.
Thank goodness I recognised the ladies of gentlemen from this excellent comedy! Unfortunately the narrator got most of the information wrong! Don’t you fact check your info before butchering it? Please sir, happy days.
Haven't read the comments section yet, but, WHAT HAPPENED TO STUDENTS ; "DUFFY" & especially "SHARON" ?? SHARON (or the actress who played Sharon) was regarded at my high-school "As Fit As A Butcher's Dog" All, as in ALL the lads fancied her like crazy, both lusting & drooling over her It all got swept aside later in 1974 when Annifrid' ("Frida") & Agnetha turned-up singing "Waterloo" ("fit birds")
Derek Guyler played Mr Potter not Price and was never in Doctor Who as far as my and IMDB's memory recalls ? Miss Yule was the Deputy Head not Headmistress. The Police series was called "Zed Cars" nor Zee Cars. Only 5/10 - Could do better.
I don't mean to be rude but if you're going to talk about a classic TV show you need to watch it first and get the characters and the actors who played them right.
These so-called short films about british tv shows can be really annoying...why use an American narrator who sounds more like a electronically produced voice?...and the errors abound, some of which are mentioned below me...really irritating.
Don't bother. The title is clickbait, and the clip is rubbish, full of sloppy, lazy mistakes! And no, they aren't all dead. Some of them are still alive and still acting.
why an american is making a video of a classic tv show is anybodys guess. clearly hasnt done his research. John isnt the only actor thats alive actually
David Barry, who played Frankie Abbot, Carol Hawkins who played Sharon, Peter Cleall who played Duffy are all still alive, and working as well.
Deryck Guyler played Norman Potter who was the caretaker in Please Sir. Mr Price was the Welsh school teacher. You Americans should pay proper attention to the series and get your facts right.
Derek Guyler played Potter not Price.Price was the bald Welsh teacher.
‘’Oh Yes’’
I was a desert rat you know....
My thoughts exactly
This was before the school leaving age was reduced from 38 to 16
Your comment is about as accurate as much of the rest of the information given.
....but very witty...😂😂
Peter Cleall (Eric Duffy) is still around... age 79... Now an actors' agent.
As is Jill Kerman (Penny Wheeler), now 77.
Who is this guy he needs to go back to school and do is home work
@@davidmathews4524 No idea... but, you're so right, he does.
My favourite student was Carol Hawkins. I only watched the program because of her. Now though she is 74 years old.
Carol of course played Sharon, the class bombshell, but the first Sharon (in episodes up until 1971) was played by Penny Spencer, equally bombshell. Both still look great in their mid-70s.
Carol Hawkins was the second actress who played Sharon, one of the students. I personally preferred her predecessor, Penny Spencer.
My thoughts entirely.
Communication problems the (fawlty towers) episode joan Sanderson was in
Joan Sanderson also featured in an episode of RISING DAMP ; It was the PINK CARNATIONS one!
PRECISELY!!!
She played Mrs Alice Richards. It wasn't a cameo role as she was central to the whole story line, it revolved around her character. Cameo means a brief appearance.

Facts Verse and actual facts are strangers!
We pronounce it 'Zed Cars' -thanks for a great video.
Derek Guyler's character was Mr. Potts, not Price. Miss. Yule was the deputy head, not the headmistress. Mr. Smith was a history teacher. Mr. Price was the science teacher.
Derek Guyler was Norman Potter.
@@chriswinter6672 That's right Chris, I stan corrected, thankyou.
Potts ? Not Potter ?
Derek Guyler's character in the series was Mr. Potter and not Potts. My favourite teacher character was Miss Ewell.
True, also Eric Chitty was not in "The Huggets Abroad,
Blimmey i can honestly say every cast member was absolutely brilliant and necessary which made it work Joan WAS my favourite because I had a boss identical to her which no long tea ☕ breaks 😂 cheers Stephen 🍀✌️👍
Correction: The Janitor (caretaker) was Mr. Potter, not Mr. Price or Mr.
Potts.
....least they got the shows title right....😊
Derek Guyler's voice is still used in every performance of The Mouse Trap where he reads the news on the radio.
I love his voice 😊
They were ALL my favourites. British Comedy at its very best!!!
Brilliant series one of my favourites i have all the dvds 😀👍
Derek Guyler never played price. His charecter was Mr Potter the school caretaker.
Misleading title because many of the regular cast members also included the actors who played the students and some of them are still alive.
Was going to say that Peter Cleall might have something to say about that clickbait title.
....I think the actor who played the class ringleader Duffy has passed away..
@@chatham43 Peter Cleall the actor you are referring to who played Duffy the class ringleader is still alive according to Wikipedia.
Typical of this sensationalist and often inaccurate channel.
Potter not Price, TRY AND DO A LITTLE RESEARCH ,,,
Agreed, and the narrator should learn how to pronounce "Bernard" as well!
It's ZED Cars, not ZEE Cars. Ye Gods! This is what happens when you unleash an American narrator on British culture 🤬🤬🤬
Also BERnard Hedges, not BernARD.
Actually it,s not Zed Cars its Z cars
Derek Guyler Was Potter Not Price, Richard Davies Was Price The Welsh Teacher
Love John alderton with his wife in upstairs down stairs .no honestly , forever green he was also in film calender girls and him and his wife Pauline Collins also in coffee ads he was also in Thomas and sarah
Don't forget my wife next door, with the stunning Hanna Gorden.
There was also one called upchat .he was also in some early episodes of emergency ward 10 and Mrs colcoot cabbage war
Derek Guyler and his washboard lol.

I like how the channel is called Facts Verse, but they get many facts wrong.
They did a video about Peter Cook and "Beyond the FRIDGE"!!! Such an inaccurate channel!
Accuracy would improve this video
Accuracy would improve ALL facts Verse videos!
And what of those actors and actresses who played the pupils??Your title is very misleading
Haven't read the comments section yet, but, WHAT HAPPENED TO STUDENTS ; "DUFFY" & especially "SHARON" ??
SHARON (or the actress who played Sharon) was regarded at my high-school "As Fit As A Butcher's Dog"
All, as in ALL the lads fancied her like crazy, both lusting & drooling over her
It all got swept aside later in 1974 when Annifrid' ("Frida") & Agnetha turned-up singing "Waterloo" ("fit birds")
Guyler played Potter
John Alderton, britains James Stewart❤
Price was a teacher!
Penny Spencer who played the first Sharon, is still alive..
Great series and film. Joan Saunderson was born in Bristol not Dublin
...least they got the programme title right....😊
Fond memories
Derek Guyler played Mr Potter not Price and was never in Doctor Who as far as my and IMDB's memory recalls ? Miss Yule was the Deputy Head not Headmistress. The Police series was called "Zed Cars" nor Zee Cars. Only 5/10 - Could do better.
It's Zed cars!
I don't mean to be rude but if you're going to talk about a classic TV show you need to watch it first and get the characters and the actors who played them right.
Not Dave - ees' he was Dave- iss' not zee cars zed cars.
Derek Guyler played Nr. Potter and not as stated Smith.
'Zee' cars? Nope, no, it was 'zed cars.'
Misleading headline. Alderton is the last surviving TEACHER not cast member!
You need to re title this, as some of the students are still alive, such as eric and one of the sharons plus i think peter.
John was also in fenn street gang
Not quite accurate. At least three members of the cast are still alive.
These so-called short films about british tv shows can be really annoying...why use an American narrator who sounds more like a electronically produced voice?...and the errors abound, some of which are mentioned below me...really irritating.
Noel Howlett was not born in maidstone....it was Bexly kent. You are confused with maidstone other famous howlett.
Downvoted for misleading title and many, many incorrect facts
Don't bother. The title is clickbait, and the clip is rubbish, full of sloppy, lazy mistakes!
And no, they aren't all dead. Some of them are still alive and still acting.
Derek guyler didn’t play mr price he player mr Potter
So many errors
Price for me
Another of these laughable "Facts" lies. John Alderton is NOT the only surviving cast member. Appauling videos.
This is why we fall for this, rubbish.
why an american is making a video of a classic tv show is anybodys guess. clearly hasnt done his research. John isnt the only actor thats alive actually
Zed cars not zee cars. Grr
get your facts right please or change your name
