It's a Po Pie! Miku Kobato enhances everything. She doesn't fill in the gaps. There are no gaps. She elevates the entire song. She is the extra nob of butter in the sauce. The butter goes unnoticed until it is absent from the sauce. We take that richness for granted at times. All hail the Mighty Miku Kobato founder of the greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century! Good review good metaphor!!! They give us what we never knew we needed =.their very best!🎉❤😂

"Choose Me" -- a song featured in the Netflix original movie "KATE" and the HBO Max series Peacemaker as BAND MAID, has so many great RnR chops, it's kinda unbelievable. From Saiki's old-school phrasing, cadence and a super soulful vocal at the end; MISA's driving bass, her special riff after Kanami's brilliant, rocking main solo (complete with harmonic pinch), and her pulls at the end of the song that really funks it up with Akane's drumming; to Kanami's original composition, off-beat octave stretches during the verses, and her addition of a second uncomplicated yet super tasty solo; to Akane's unique snare & tom flurry that launches the choruses; and to Miku's octave-down, in & out vocal backup and lyrics... all makes "Choose Me" a throwback rocker that surprised me when I first heard it - and I'll bet most anyone - that they would come up with this western-style, rock 'n roll classic.
Of course, after years later, it's not surprising at all coming from this important band of geniuses who are, along with The Warning band, almost single-handedly bringing back the joy of rock. Forbidden tale has Kanami's custom PRS that was made to her specs....and misa almost always wears no shoes and goes barefoot, unless she is at a outdoor venue and the stage is hot

Kanami's custom guitar for her use is quilted maple which reminds me of a tigers eye gem. A tawny golden broen masterpiece! The Signature model is a smoky green color each one signed by the space cadet/riff princess her self. For sale to the lucky few. 😮@@BigMikeReactions
The guitar in this video is the first PRS she used after switching from the Addictone brand, which she had a signature model.... she uses it in their first few videos "Thrill", "Real Existence" and a few others. She had borrowed this PRS from a member of their crew. Since buying her first green PRS, she's added a few more; red, purple, brown, and grey versions. Her Private Stock is gold and looks like a setting sun over water, which she uses in their newest MV "Forbidden Tale". I thought I couldn't love their music, or the band anymore than I did already. Then I watched the latest acoustic version of "Day dreaming"..... Saiki plays the piano, Miku and Kanami harmonise.....magical

And they throw in a couple of acoustic performances in their live set from time to time.
There is no other rock band out there like the Maids, nobody does it like they do, Yes MISA plays barefoot at live shows, except at some outdoor festivals if the stage is really hot, she has since the beginning, they tried to get her to wear high heels, she said NO they hurt her feet, so now she plays barefoot, and because her bass line kills it on every track her nickname became the barefoot bass assassin, I love watching reactors become "Maidiacs" when they figure out that its not about the lyrics or the maid outfits, great reaction Mike, rock on man 🤘🤘

If you think you heard the style of song before...maybe. But I guarantee, listen closely and you didn't hear the noodling in the background like Kanami does...or indeed such thoughtful bass lines. Yes, the dual vocals absolutely charactetise Maid Rock 👌❤🤘🤘🤘

Big Mike , through out your commentary you are spot on , know about MISA , she is known as the Barefoot Bass Assassin , because yes MISA plays barefoot and during an interview the interviewer asked about MISA`s outfit not looking like a Maid outfit , Miku spoke up and said it was an Assassin Maid outfit , put it together you have Barefoot Bass assassin .

Misa, on stage, she doesn't wear shoes, she feels the music through her feet, so she doesn't have to wear a clicker in her ear. She's barefoot and always killing that bass, hence The Barefoot Assassin. After you do some Baby Metal, how about Dice next. Great reaction, had fun.
In the early years, Misa stopped wearing her maid outfit. During a TV show interview, the host asked why she wasn't wearing a maid costume. Misa said that she's wearing a maid assassin outfit. So, the term stuck with her.

MISA said she feels Akane's kick drum and plays off the feel. Akane feeds off of MISA's drive and groove. For me they are currently the best rhythm section in the rock genre.

During an interview, the interviewer asked MISA why she wore black instead of a maid outfit, and Miku said it was because she is a maid assassin. MISA doesn't like wearing heels because they make her feet hurt, which is why she usually goes barefoot. Hence Barefoot Assassin.

Band Maid didn't write their own songs at the beginning and their record company wouldn't put out the songs they wanted to do... so after they made the video Thrill and it got millions of views, their lable didn't want them playing that style, so the quit and got a new label. So they had their pop era, then their Punk/Hard Rock Era and as Miku learned more chords they are more in the Prog Vein. Like Rush.
This band is just so, so good a gorgeous glorious miracle of a band 👍🍻
Lol naw, whoever told you that has lost track of time. by 2010 the fun pop-punk genre was dead. This is definitely early-mid 00’s pop-punk song but adds shreddy guitar solos. Its what the pop-punk genre could have been if performed by more talented musicians and as a fan of the era and genre myself I say that with full honesty and hardly any cynicism. These ladies are the best and no band has ever combined this level of depth and catchiness at the same time.
Edit: I would say this song most closely resembles a combination of Damone’s Out Here All Night and The Veronicas’ Untouched but played at a level that far exceeds both combined.

@@BigMikeReactions Oh you'll find so many more bands to entertain you. So I think you'll check out BabyMetal next, then there are bands like SiM, Maximum the Hormone, Nemophila, Hanabie, Asterism and good old shonen knife and show-ya. Aldius, Lovebites, Crystal lake for Metal / metalcore.
Ningen-Isu for something more progressive. Wagakki band or Band-Maiko for Japanese traditional instrumental and modern Western music fusion.
There are a huge list of up and coming bands I didn't cover.....if you want to go down into J-rock, J-metal rabbit hole, do it at your own pace. 😁
Me personally I still find Band-Maid the most diverse and quirky band out of all the rest.y

Try Kohta Yamamoto’s song called ‘Tactics’. It features Saiki on vocals. So no Miku in this one. 😊
