I just built my bench and set up for jewelry/engraving. Microscope on the way. Scrimshaw and chasing. Love your channel for all you do. Thanks from a Louisiana Cajun . Merry Christmas to you sir.

Im in the middle of making my own bench. Just wondering if anyone would know what type of finish there is on this wood? Is it a worktop stain, varnish etc etc? The finish is amazing on this bench.

A microscope attached to a table with an engraving ball in a metal pan ... ??? The vibrations will distort and blur the image in the microscope. Especially in close-up of the glasses, the engraving ball must be separated from transmitting vibrations to the microscope ... I will say that the sound will be irritating ... sorry but my experience (24 years of engraving) tells me that this table is not for me ... a waste of money. Best regards from New York ... bearing in mind that my opinion might offend someone ... sorry ...

I was thinking about that engraving ball in the metal pan too. Doesn't sound like a very good design unless it's very solid and heavy.

    Really nice looking bench. Quality.
I wonder whether they give options of inclusion / exclusion regarding drawers ect, and more importantly, left handed option for the pedestal. Thank you Andrew for showing it off. I have to say that Durston Benches are some pieces of furniture to be proud of.

Hi Andrew! Question (please), a question I've not seen answered anywhere yet; many jewelers use borax and boric acid with mentholated spirits (as you call it across the pond), then use a "proper" flux for soldering. Why then, do people have success using a borax cone for soldering if the barrier flux made of borax is not good for soldering joins? It's a bit of a physics disconnect - in discussion. What is the reality? I imagine you'll enjoy illuminating this one, and you are surely the one to do it! Thank you!
