“why not me, why can’t I save this species?” Jeez what an 11 year old!! God bless you
Such a profound statement! We could all learn something from Mr. Galves.
and then everybody clapped..
Imagine the world if everyone had that mindset
Right
@@kenziesickafoose1391 Everybody had that mindset when they were 11. The only reason why you doubt it is that you are the one who did not have it.

All it took was the decision of that scientist that said "ah, ok kid, lets go", to change the life of someone else.
Changed an entire species.
Reminds me of a book “The Noticer” and the information he told to an old widow who felt she was ready to give up on life.
Yeah, that and also the fact that he even asked. 😊
That’s exactly what stood out to me the most, if he’d said scram kid he would not have fulfilled “what seems to me” his purpose. Any they probably would have hired someone who would have done it just for the money and further abused the manatees .
@@koreenellahome "Any they probably would have hired someone who would have done it just for the money and further abused the manatees" Why would you assume this? Is there a precedent for this happening?

*most of us cant say so*
Disappointingly accurate

I wanted to become a teacher! 😂😂🥴
I can
I wanted to become a pirate captain. It’s probably a good thing that I didn’t. 😆
never underestimate how much a single event can impact a child’s life and their future choices. give that small chance.
Agreed
yes for good or bad. People be positive with children!
So true. Just allowing him to come change the direction of his life.
In america kids are never given chances like this - which is why everyone ends up getting so self entitled
Yes! I was just about to say the same thing!
Dude meets every criteria of what it means to be a "Man" among children.
And also it took a real man to say "ok c'mon kid let's go" and TEACH
I have no idea why people cant just accept what another person has to say without finding some trite offense. This Man gently cares for the children around him of all types including the manatee and he passes on that same caring and knowledge of how to care to the next generation. Who said anything about beards either? Who cares. Just accept the statement for what it says. This is a Man in my book.
here in the States the media brainwashes the public to call him a Black Man not a Man
I completely agree. I think many guys have a skewed idea of what it means to be a true man. To me, a real man is not afraid to show love for others, including animals. Showing emotions makes a man stronger, not weaker!
@@Mhats I hate how Americans divide their people. "Black people", "white people", Latin American people" and stuff like that. Also, the mere fact that you still use the word race... In my country (Germany), the last time we used this term was when Hitler was still alive. Now it's racist to say the German counterpart of race. Race doesn't even have any scientific base, so why do Americans keep on dividing people based on something that doesn't even exist and is just based on a few aspects of outer appearance?! Maybe stop separating people altogether?
Sorry for going off topic. This is a topic that bugs me a lot .-.

Shoutout to the researchers who let him stick around despite being a kid. He showed interest and they probably never would've imagined that a field trip for a kid would ever evolve into a lifetime of dedication. It would've been so easy to shoo him away so they could focus and this man's life probably would've been different as a result but they didn't and that's amazing! 👏🏾

Most kids at 11 are playing video games, this guy was out helping saving an entire species at that age. Now he is an adult and teaching other kids about Manatees. Very inspiring young man!
You just taught an old man a lesson. I dreamed of being a marine biologist when I was young but couldn't stay focused on science and lab work in college, I found it terribly dull and I wanted to be out in the water with the sea life. Feeling defeated, I chose another path. I'm so jealous of your boldness and tenacity at 11, that I didn't have at 20, to find a way to do what you loved without using the traditional route. I'm now 50 and I'm going to check on some local volunteer possibilities. Thanks.
Also, the culture he came from allowed the curiosity of a child to be accommodated. A natural connection exists between children and animals. Academia dries out passion.
