I'm guessing the driver didn't do a tug test or get out and look. Before raising the landing gear I like to get up under the trailer and look to see if the jaws are locked. If there isn't enough light to see clearly I get my flashlight.

Always when hook up trailer go forward apply chasy break then reverse and apply chasy break in winter due to cold 5th wheel lock doesn't lock properly leaving best way is go under trailer and see the lock

But I thought it was dirty and has not come in contact with anything in a long time but it hit the truck pretty good Wich means it did have contact so assumption was wrong based on evidence u had no awnsers
