This brilliant creation puts a lump in the throat and tears in the eyes of this absolute lump of a late 50’s year old Scotsman…pure unadulterated class.
I am 59 I couldn’t stand this guy or his music back in the day Never listened to him all my life Just seen him perform this song on jools Holland 2024 Absolutely love his voice and performance, thank you for such a gift
Honestly have loved this particular video version of this song, since first hearing it, over a year ago I think, but anyhow, it inspired me in several ways, one of which to go see at Let’s Rock in Shrewsbury…..not next door for us, but myself and youngest son can’t wait to see 🥰
Dave Ball laughing at 2:36, just shows these talented musicians are really good friends, you can see the love and warmth between them. C'mon Dave & Marc, keep Soft Cell alive, your majestic songs are perfect. It shows a fantastically well written back catalog, that when, even re-recorded in a new version, they still sound masterful. What a band.
@@davidramonemorrison2652 they're absolutely brilliant, been a fan since a kid. Can't wait for the new album. Marc Almond, what a voice! He could teach this new rabble (with a couple of exceptions) of so called singers, dependent on auto tune and effects a thing or two, he's really got the goods.
Unbelievable! Nearly Pissed myself when I heard Marc Almond was 62. What a Voice he still has. How is it possible to still look and sound as good/if not better. as he does nearly 40 years later. Fantastic
I'm a 68 year old man and this beautiful song is one of the most emotional tunes ever written. Dave's incredible keyboards and Marc Almond's beautiful and emotional vocals make this song so special. I cry everytime I hear it, for no particular reason except it is such a magnificent song, both lyrically and musically.
One of the best songs they ever did, love the david gray cover, but this is sublime & as good today as it's ever been... They deserve their place at the table of the greats... Welcome back... Later! xx
A stray cat came to a neighbours house and we looked after it but months later it became ill and i took it to the vet for where it was put to sleep. The words "I never knew you, you never knew me , say hello goodbye" makes me remember him.
I love this more than I have the words to say. I ache and burst with an uncontainable adoration for this song and performance. I am at the same time devastated into desolation, to learn that their last ever performance is days away and sold out.
Last performances and irrecoverable partings are always sad... at least today compared to the 1980s.,there are many more ways to access quality recordings of performances that can alleviate the "endings" time brings, and instead relive the moment!
Groups, bands, singers, whatever, could learn so much from these two musical giants. And the thing that really got me was the fact they must've played this tune a gazillion times yet they looked liked they were having a 'ball'! Sorry Dave, I had to say it. Pure unadulterated class, from start to finish. Thanks boys.
Every now and then i just get the urge to listen to this song . Ime not a huge soft cell fan and I don’t really like the song tainted love probably due to it been overplayed but this song and the way it’s written and the lyrics . Then to top it off it’s marks voice . Truly brilliant record . Timeless
Absolutely superb ! Class is timeless and these guys are proof of that ! They laid down the soundtrack to the formative years of many of us and we are blessed for that ! Thanks guys , you were, and still are heads and shoulders above the rest !!!
Outstanding, that song is timeless and it was flawlessly performed. I wish most in the US could have realized how amazing they were well beyond Tainted Love, not to mention Marc's solo career. Would love to see their last show.
Unfortunately, they didn't get much promotion here, and neither did Marc for his solo endeavors... He did get some traction with "The Stars We Are", but I think cancelling the subsequent tour date in Los Angeles ended any momentum...
Ohh man, this made me tear up. I'm so happy that Marc didn't die from drugs, and that he is here to make SO many people happy again. If you don't have a copy of the new "Keychains and Snowstorms" box set they recently released, you MUST get it. It has ALL the 12" versions and mixes etc.
One of the greatest songs ever written and never gets enough airtime or love.
This is a painful song to hear for me and makes me cry. Utterly magical.
Still puts shivers down my spine and I'm nearly 54
@@barrypotter5751 it’s just one of those records isn’t it.
@@VinylSamuraisMusic definitely well said my friend amazing
It was a super hit. Finds a new audience every year
I agree. Really no radio time for such a great. Instead tainted love is overplayed
Marc almond and his beautiful voice... Still intact. Great artists. Pure talent
A tip: you can watch series at Kaldrostream. Me and my gf have been using it for watching loads of movies these days.

Just seen him perform this song on jools Holland 2024
Absolutely love his voice and performance, thank you for such a gift
Dave’s keyboard work in this song especially during the chorus is truly a thing of beauty.
Martin Rev is my favorite keyboard player however Dave Ball is a very close second ! in addition I always liked Dave's fashion style more
credit where its due ! this man smashes this song every time he performs it

Yeah- I get the face- probably had work done, and fair play to him, but there's no disguising a knackered voice- his voice is still amazing!

Wow voice has hardly changed , unlike many 80’s bands , you wouldn’t be left feeling short changed with that performance

One of the best songs ever written! Dripping with soul, class, despair and beauty. Still stunning after all these years...
Just pure quality
Pure class! Soft Cell still got it. Quite emotional at the end with Marc singing next to Dave, Roll on the 02 on Sunday.
Gave me goosebumps. An utter fucking classic. If you are not moved by this your must be dead

Ooh, didn't know David Grey covered this song .... goes off to seek it out on UA-cam :-) Thanks
It's horrible, nothing like Soft Cell's! Marc just sings this song to perfection along with Dave on synth & the electronic percussion.
great comments they were very under rated marc and david are up with best of them during the best decades of music
true
EASILY the best song they made so much better than the overrated over played tainted love
1 word needed ... superb
I’ve loved this band since 1980...
The performance and singing were brilliant, the smiles at the end were priceless.
The sound of synthesizers is too good. Korg !!!!!
Whats the top one ?
Korg Synthe-Bass
This song has a new dimension to it now that it’s surely the last Soft Cell reunion
Finally I got to see Soft Cell play live in 2023 and they were magnificent - Great songs and great memories....
Class lives on, here's the proof ! This is stellar ! Absolute classic from the 80's best duo without a doubt ! Perfect live rendition ...
Still got that beautiful expressive voice. 💜 💜
60 years old. Just unbelievable!!
What a marvelous song that only Marc almond could sing with that panache.
What a singer Marc is his singing voice is so good
Sometimes when your around in the eighties you miss absolute perfection because there was a lot of stunning stuff but this was the gold.
I love Marc almond he is my favourite artist
Just brilliant. As great today as it was in 81. The original synth duo. I hope they continue to make new stuff.

The greatest, most Haunting, Melancholic Tragic Love song of all time ❤......
Beautiful, almost brings a tear to my eye, grew up with this band, I'm so lucky to have been a teenager in the 80's
If Dave and Marc had hugged at the end i'd have cried. Brings back so many good memories and one of the all time greatest duos and songs. Timeless
Been ages since I've heard this. Absolutely beautiful.
Marc hits the spot with this performance -the hair on the back of my neck stood up.

A truly beautiful song. It’s so good to see these two reunite, even though it was for such a short time.
Lovely version of a lovely song. And how nice of that kindly old pensioner/local pub attendant to join Marc on keyboards.
