So good to see Marc looking comfortable and relaxed. His voice has recovered really well. Used to go and see him and also Soft Cell. Loved his repartee with the audience. Must repeat how great it is to see him back. Saw him at Ipswich Regent when he was clearly ill at ease and his voice was yet to return properly. Think the little shows he did during the Covid crisis really helped him get his confidence back

Soft cell had me hooked as a 18 year old. Never has a band resonated with me . They were the number one band. 2024 and I've said this for 42 year's. Torch 12 inch is up there with one of the greatest ever records in new wave or synthesised music . For me it's my all time favourite song but we have to put it in the gendre of music. You can't compare torch with 99 reds balloons for instance. Music shapes our lives , our souls ,even our future . Soft cell were the greatest in that field

Marc/Soft Cell songs were the backdrop to my teens.
As my avatar shows, i'm a synth guy, and playing their songs is a passion of mine.
There will never be their kind of music again.
Their first album, non-stop erotic cabaret, is a journey into a world, you wouldn't believe songs could be written about. Songs about living in a bed-sit (small apartment/rented room).
It was a magical time back then.
Always a pleasure to see and hear Marc.

Either in Soft Cell or within his own solo output, Marc has been one of the best & most talented male vocalists the UK has ever had the pleasure of knowing. His songwriting skills are totally off the scale & he has a Midus touch when it comes to covering a song & then making it his own. It's good to see him so upbeat at such an early hour on the BBC. The new album is another outstanding production & nothing's ever going to slow him down. He should have his own Saturday night show on the BBC by now in my opinion & when will Glastonbury eventually invite him & Dave down to the farm for a very long overdue gig?

Once in Copenhagen in Denmark I was at a concert with Soft Sell, one of the best concert ever experienced, Marc gave such a perfect performance but the the danish audience was so quiet and passive and me and my wife was almost the only one dancing and singing around and we were thinking, has our danish people went to a wrong concert cause they were so ungrateful and passive. Maybe it's just the danish way in general, they don't freak out a lot, but Soft Cell/Marc Almond is absoluely one of the most important band/singer I have ever experienced.

I ALWAYS had 'Non Stop Erotic Cabaret' playing in my casette player of my VW Beetle back in 86.
I had spent two weeks attempting to woo Melanie White. Then one night, sensing the moment was right, just before she stepped out of my car as asked:
"Melanie, what you say if I asked you out?"
She said “I would laugh of course!”
Gutted and crestfallen I asked "Why?"
She said, "Because you are gay of course!" She then kissed me on the cheek and walked to her front step.
Over the next week I asked around, and as it turned out EVERYONE thought I was gay because of THAT casette!
    😂👍❤️🇬🇧
EDIT: Kissed me on the cheek not ‘chick’. There was NOT a chicken in the car.

Marc Almond & the stomach pump......... a great story, it's included in a book called "Meaty Beaty Big And Bouncy."
This is a book and not to be confused with a Who album of the same name.
There is also a great story regarding Status Quo called "Status Quo And The Kangaroo".
If you only ever buy one book, buy this one.
It's full of true stories regarding artists, musicians and rock bands about their life on the road.
