Skating will never be the same again. Like you said, we didn’t have UA-cam, Fortnite, Roblox, etc. I grew up on a deck, knee on the board accidentally running over my fingers every now and then. THESE KIDS DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT SKATE TAG IS!!! Our boards were our transportation, happiness and a place to rest when we really needed to sit or even lay down 😂😂😂😂. I still keep my board in my trunk and stop by the park it least once a year. You’re right, there definitely isn’t much kids that skate anymore, but the kids that do are insanely good. Idk wtf they feed these kids but I swear I wasn’t that good until high school. They’re 12-13 max laser up a quarter pipe fakey down wtf!
This week I swapped from 52 to 56. I needed more speed in miniramp. I was thinking of 54s but i had these 56 at home and tried them.
I'm skating again after some years with little to no skating. I bought the 56 so i could make less effort in park transition, but they started to feel a little brutal for slow ledge tricks and for the miniramp and my friend's home. So i got me some 52 until i gained confidence and control. 2 months later, i felt like 52s were a little to slow so i gave the 56 another chance. I'm starting to feel comfortable with them. I made no effort to gain speed up the transition.
I have another board with 52s i may use for street or maybe to practice new difficult things in ramp when i need a little less speed. I will see if i like them or swap them for another size. I'm relearning my skills and adapting to new things so trying different sizes and types if you can i think it's a good idea.
I stopped skating around 2012 and started again last year. I felt like I was up so high on my new board and I felt very uncomfortable but I figured it was all in my head. I found my old board from 2012 and saw that I went from 50mm wheels to 56mm wheels. Twelve years apart and I could tell the difference haha.
