The Verge great review. Thank you for taking the time to prepare and present it. I’ll definitely keep an eye out as Snsp continues to modify and upgrade Spectacles, but as advised...I won’t be purchasing them anytime soon.

Snapchat is really missing the point. They need to decouple it from snapchat and focus on quality, look and ease of use. They need to give it a universal charging port like USB C. There's such an opportunity to own this market before it takes off.
IMO they lack the money and technology to own this market, even with a dominating head start. Even if (and that's a big if) they got it together, streamlined hardware & software into a cheap cohesive unit they just don't have the money or know how to keep pace with Google and Apple who are working on actual AR glass. Google recently acquired North (a Canadian AR company and the only company doing better than Vuzix in this space), and Apple has been working on theirs behind the scene for years and years. When AR drops in 2021 and 2022 Snap will be left in the dust still trying to figure out the R&D side of things. How many times did this guy say novelty in his review? In my opinion Snap's best move would to be to actually embrace that. Be the cheap novelty version of AR that appeals to kids & young adults too cheap to invest in Google or Apple's expensive offerings.

Why does someone else's misuse of a product mean it isn't for you? If someone was recording video with their iPhone 11 Pro in the public bathroom, does that make it something that's not for you?
As a tech enthusiast... I had completely forgot that this even existed. That's how much of an impact this product line has had. I didn't even know that they had made a second version... let lone a third.
it's not your money that they use to develop the product, and there are lot of effort from talented developer and engineer team to make this product a reality, so why you write a harsh comment like that do you have a grudge toward the hardworking developer?
Ria The number of generations of a product doesn’t necessarily have any correlation to its success or profitability. If I had the money to do so, I could release ten generations of a product with each generation selling not a single unit.
As an owner of the snapchat original spectacles, I have found these useful in capturing moments that I cannot get off of my cell phone or camera. The best camera is the one you have on you! I notice that there is much better audio feedback from the spectacles 2, and this new virtual reality technology seems to be where we are heading next. I think that snapchat has a good sense of setting the trend with these wearables. As for how many people are using snapchat, I use this platform a lot for business purposes too. I can honestly say that snapchat has done wonders for my store and am looking into getting a pair of these new Spectacles 3!
Can you explain more about how you use them for business purposes? I have a pair and I’m new to Snapchat so I’m trying to figure out how to incorporate them into my daily life. Thanks
desaturated I mean I had a ton of fun with spectacles 2 and with 3 I’ll have a ton of fun with the effects and AR community . This review wasn’t good. If you guys want you can add me on Snapchat to see surfing and all sorts of cool stuff I do with mine . I love like looking out in the world while I record. I see other people when traveling they lift up their phone to take photo but they aren’t even paying attention to them BEING there . That’s what spectacles feel like. Your still aware while record cause you don’t have a rectangle screen in front of your face

100% correct. The concept itself isn't the problem, it's the execution. Snap can have it a part of its Snapchat suite but realize that it's not the form it's the function. These should literally be "GoPro for your face" and if they can improve the battery in the microphone and the ability to record for longer & lower the price...these could literally be a hit. If they video much easier to export. the idea itself, as somebody that used version 2.0 of these, is really good.
It’s a very good gadget for content creators and traveling. Definitely something that’s gonna be massively adopted once they get a lot better and more accessible.
3:00 can't forget the OG rainbow flowing out of your mouth back when filters were new and sometimes you have to pay for them. I remember it was so fun whenever that filter was free, because I feel like I remember it sometimes being free and sometimes being like $0.99 or $1.99
I’m good with my gen 2 spectacles. I got them when I was making a documentary so people would stop ducking out of my camera and they’ve been surprisingly useful for low key camera uses like pet photos since.
Notice the filters were used in “perfect scenarios” grid on buildings and pathways work fine for AR. But for real life in ur home layout. It’ll be more erratic
Yep that’s the plan . Right now they are gathering data and going off the fact you can record your life and share that easily. They will do it it’s just they wanna do it with a good foundation. Would be very fun to put them on and see people’s faces morph in front of you . Also ar directions is a use too
Would there be good for filming everyday life like maybe being able to capture my kids first steps or capturing other things that I wouldn’t want anyone to miss
See, I'd imagine them being perfect for that. The only caveat is you will need to be wearing sunglasses. Although apparently you can just easily pop the lenses out and have empty frames or even go a step further and install prescription lenses if you need them. Let me know if you end up making a purchase on a pair and enjoy them.
I just bought a used pair from this guy in Missouri for $65 - yes, I'm serious and yes, I'm talking about v. 3. He couldn't figure out how to use them.
I don’t think it would be a bad product of the resolution was better number one, and number two that Snapchat integration was secondary to the hardware in the ability for people to record video and images without the need for a Snapchat account. It seems like for privacy reasons you just can’t trust media companies like that with your content privacy.
This is a step in the right direction towards a tool to enable the visually impaired to integrate more comfortably and safely with society in general. The depth perception will be the key to success in that endeavor.
I like the idea of it but yeah ... for this to really go worldwide, personally i think it needs to at least live stream the filters to the phone with footage. Having the phone being able to click in and work or have a projector on the lens would be optimal.
My problem is still the look. I feel they need to look a bit more natural. I know they released the Nico's and another pair, but they're £50 more than spectacles 2 and don't even come with the charging case

I own the Spectacles 2 and I mostly just use them as prescription sunglasses. I love them, and the video feature does come in handy
