When Lindsey and Pentatonix did this video she was more famous than them. She was on America's Got Talent or X Factor. Did not win but got some good exposure which helped her career.
Not really. She was on America's Got Talent but was told that she wasn't good enough of a violinist to be able to dance and play at the same time. She worked hard at it, despite their harsh criticism, where Pierce said something about her sounding like mice being killed, and became a huge success on her own. I wouldn't call that good exposure. She's said that after her appearance on the show she went into the bathroom and cried until they asked her to leave.
Her recent song "Story of the Untold Her" is about her disappointment on AGT and the video is a showing to her past self what she was able to accomplish after that tough time. She's been called back onto AGT as a guest performer a few times. AGT actually had the gall to request that she compete on the show again in their 1st season of their AGT Champions, even though she wasn't a champion. She pretty much told them "not a chance." She's already got a hugely successful career with multiple albums and multiple tours around the world. There was absolutely no reason for her to have to go through that pressure again.
Great reaction. Lindsey Stirling dances and plays violin. Their Collab “Over The River” is great. They also do “ Papaoutai” with her which is a cover of Stromae. ( a Belgiun singer and rapper).
PTX truly gives it all to every song. Some people or bands have maybe 20 really great songs. PTX is so amazing their catalog is all good. I love their collabs with people. They truly want what is best for the song and want their guests to shine.

Lindsey Stirling is a great success story of hard work and not giving up, despite harsh criticism from America's Got Talent. She's a dubstep/hip hop violinist who dances while she plays. She did the collab to help Pentatonix get their name out there through her fanbase.
She didn't give up after competing, and with hard work she made herself a multimillionaire now, was on the Forbes 30 under 30 in 2015, and has collabed with ones like Lzzy Hale from Halestorm ("Shatter Me" which is about her struggle with and breaking free from an eating disorder) and Amy Lee from Evanescence (Love Goes On and On). She's got her own line of violins as well. At one point she was considered to be the most successful female UA-camr. Her debut album spent 37 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard's Classical Crossover Albums chart. So, she pretty much proved AGT wrong. I believe that Pierce even apologized to her in a Tweet admitting that he was wrong in his criticism.
She's currently got over 14 million subscribers and billions of views. She came in 2nd place when she competed on Dancing With the Stars, even dancing to her own song and actually playing her violin while dancing during one of their later dance routines, which I've never heard of anyone doing before or since. There's a compilation video of her Dancing With the Stars routines.
I would highly suggest listening to some of her songs, even if you don't react to them. Most of her songs are instrumental. Crystallize is a great one that I believe was her first big hit. Shatter Me, that I mentioned earlier, is also a good one to start with. All of her music videos are from her being big on cosplay. She makes her own wardrobe and edits her own videos. She's very particular about how her videos look. I hope you have fun going down the Lindsey Stirling rabbit hole.
Lindsey made her career playing violin and dancing. However, in the past few years her singing has emerged. First on her video "I Wonder As I Wander" which introduced her voice to the amazement of many, me included.

It is said cellos, violins and oboes are closest to the human voice, with cello being the closest. So it makes sense how amazing this combo is and every time Kevin plays. And yes, Lindsey is amazing and worth watching more of. Very creative.

Lindsey has done two other videos with PTX - Over the River and Papaoutai. She started as a dancer then took up the violin, I believe. She had to make a choice and chose the violin, but obviously incorporates her dance training into her performances.
When she first came out to the public eye on one of the talent shows as a violinist who dances, no one had ever seen anything like her before. Now there are quite a few instrumentalists who combine playing with other talents.
I especially love Papaoute, and to fully understand and appreciate that one, please watch the original with Stromae, who would be another new performer for you to explore. I absolutely love him (found his music through this cover by PTX).

I agree about the videos with music, just when you think they can't get any better they manage to, and I'm still wondering if there is anything Kevin can't do? He's a total package of awesome. Lindsey is a violinist and dancer - who somehow manages to move around like a ballerina without getting her hair caught in her violin or bow! I would definitely recommend checking out her channel to see what else she has done.
This video is approaching 11 years since release (March 2013). At the time, Lindsey was much more well known on UA-cam than Pentatonix was, so by collaborating with them on this video, she was really helping a lesser-known artist get a break by introducing them to her fan base. Each of them released the video on their own channels, but if you check out the views, Lindsey still has almost 4 times as many views on the video as Pentatonix does - so her fan base is definitely alive and well!
This is the first of 3 collaborations Pentatonix and Lindsey have done. The other two are Papaoutai and Over the River. Papaoutai is a song by Belgian artist/rapper Stromae - and both his and PTX's versions are performed entirely in French! Over the River ("and through the woods to Grandmother's house we go...") is an epic version of the old poem/song that everyone has sung as a kid. If you watch The Recording of Evergreen, the Trio (Scott, Mitch, Kirstie) spend some time going over the minute details of how they want to perform the song - it's a highlight of the video for me!

Yeah, I wouldn't bother with Lindsey. Nothing to see here.
She's just... your average classical violinist gone rogue, dancer, singer, choreographer, composer, arranger, video conceptor, director, editor, costume and set designer and philanthropist, who happens to have 13.9 M subscribers, 3.9 B views, six gold or platinum studio albums, 2 Billboard awards, numerous sold-out domestic and worldwide tours, and a NYT best selling book. Who struggles with an effervescent and charming personality and legions of wildly devoted fans. All done on her own dime, without a label.
If you ignore my advice, beware! She's a mite addictive. Start at her beginning and after a few gobsmacking videos, take a look at her BTS videos to be amazed even further. She's like a Marvel Universe UA-camr!
