Chapeau Captain 🧑✈️! One of the most difficult systems to explain! Respekt that you didn’t took your hands of...but rather get things done. Thank you very much! So from my side I would like to encourage you to do more like this technical stuff. Your vid is a balance between theoretical knowledge and also practical presentation. Thanks 🙏
Hi Pilot , for the more uninitiated, explaining how the inertial driving system works is quite difficult. So I explain it this way: suppose we get a passenger into a car and then we blindfold him, when the car starts, the passenger, based on the sensations or perception of the movements of his body, will be able to understand where the vehicle will be at the end of its journey. Well, the inertial driving system in redundancy with GPS is able to allow ocean flights where there is no possibility of having VOR or NDB radio aids.
Very good and detail video. I follow few pilots that are creating similar content as you, but there are not much real examples on real plane like you did here. Please continue with this type of videos as much as you can with this level of details.
Seeing the Garuda ATR remind me of a good old days in Indonesia. Been there 2010-2015 in Wings Air, and now im in my home country and under training for B737NG Batik Air Malaysia. Your videos are owesome. Keep it up !🎉
Denis, thank you a bunch for that very rich and clear explanation about the "monster" , the IRS system. Your didactic is great, and pictures and diagrams are great ! 👍👍👍👍👍
Great video! I have watched a lot of B 737 ng tutorial videos and you are the first one to fully explain the IRS System. I think you should do more videos on B 737 ng systems. I have not seen all of your videos but could you do one on the pre flight walk around on the B 737ng.
Hello, Thank you so much for the video! It was very informative! I am flying a 737-800 in Xplane 11 sim a lot in my freetime, and I would really love to see similiarly deatiled videos about other 737 systems as well. I really appreciate your effort on these videos!
Thanks captain😊.Very intresting😮. Your videos are growing everyday and its epic!!!. Thanks for sharing this information captain. Love from India 🇮🇳 🇮🇳 ❤
Thank you very much for this very interesting video! I really like this kind of very technical video! And again thank you for taking the time to explain to us in detail !
Nice video . Can you make video on how to taxi a aircraft. I know it can be done with a tiler but can you make a video taxing airplane. Please also record the movement of tiler in your vlog . Please try to do it . PUM PUM ✈✈✈✈
Great instructional video, this explains a lot of what I didn’t understand,I’ll be playing it several times (I am building a full 737 sim and want to learn the correct procedures, this will really help me) keep going .
Hello,Denis. Thank’s for this video. It’s extremely interesting but I should watch the video again to understand better. 😄How long have you been flying by first officer?
I'm a 737pilot and though you are right we should read our manuals I listen to your videos while I'm washing or shave... 😀. I find it really helpful to listen! :))
The ADIRUs send inertial and air data (like airspeed, airplane attitude, yaw and roll rates, accelerations, etc.) to the SMYD. So, without this data, yaw movement detection and rudder command calculation are practically impossible. That's why YD disengages with IRU off. Greetings and deep respect from the avionic technical instructor! Your videos are awesome!
You are a good teacher Denys! The older type IRS(or INS) used rotating gyros so the equipment was a lot bigger than as now we use laser light instead, obviously. I think it has to do with the speed of light and Doppler effect with movement but I may be wrong.
Hi Captain! What an amazing video, a way to easily understand the IRS. I think that you can't engage the yaw damper switch with the IRS off because the Yaw Damper/Stall Management Computers receives some information from the ADIRUs, and with the IRS off, It would not receive the required information to work. I'm just thinking loud, gotta check the FCOM to see. Greetings from Brazil!
Awesome video, Denis, I love this kind of content that you give us from the cockpit. Thanks You! P.D. I could see a "Zibo mod" picture, very nice, you should try it (Xplane11), this mod will surprise you!
Denys! Divers caught the cockpit advance recorder today! From the plane that crashed into the Java sea (9 jan.) I just wanted report this to you! Greetings Betsy.
Great presentation. . During normal conditions OK, but when flight conditions are challenging, as in an emergency, with noise, vibration, unsteady motion, I can't imagine how readings and switch and button selection can be accomplished and that would be the time when operator efficiency would be most critical. I wonder how a pilot would specify a cockpit display and control system, carte blanch.
I know this is an older video, but I'll ask anyway. How often would you enter the lat & long on the ISDU, while doing an irs slignment? Great video by the way. I have been studying this system for the last few days.
well done and interesting video ! One question : How can the 737 navigate when for whatever reason both IRS's are off ? It surely can continue to fly but how will it navigate ? What means remain ? Maybe by using GPS only ? FMC route will still work ? Thanks.
I found this (in Boeing-Aero): "Loss of one IRU does not significantly affect navigation accuracy. Operation on the remaining IRU should be limited to diversion to the nearest suitable airport. In the event of dual IRU failure, the left GPS true track is displayed on page 3 of the PROGRESS pages on the CDU. This serves as a tertiary backup for the airplane heading or track and an update to IRS ATT mode."
and also this (from 747 pilot): "The GPS (alone) will not drive your Map display. You will have to figure out which way you are flying (the hard way). You can enter a HDG into the IRU's, periodically (from your whiskey compass), when they are in ATT mode, but still no Map. You will have to use dead reckoning and also fly manually (no A/P)" So i think thats the answer to my iniial question.
Hi! Just today in flight radar I found your aircraft flying from Sharm El-Sheikh (SSH) to Odesa (ODS) I found you aircraft for the first time in flight radar btw! Isn't your registration "UR-PSP" ?
Pilot Blog, does this instrument large? I ask because I heard lots of accidents on general aviation here in the States. Wonder if many general aviation planes equipped with this instrument accidents will be thing of the past.
Hi. The ISR system is not very large. Sometimes it is used in general aviation. But it is not necessary. The modern GPS system gives the good daya as well. For example there is no IRS or INS systems on ATR42/72.

Hey capt. do you fly the 737Max ? or have u been inside the plane?
Hi,
If we enter the ATT mode and enter 275 MAG HDG should the ND show 275 MAG also? VAR is 2* E
Hi Dennis hope you are well. On the IRS System panel I see that there is a Positive a Plus + symbol what does it mean?
Hi, i have a question on my assessment, why is the IRS took longer to align at high latitude geographical position ?
u looked so young back then when you flew the ATR😂😂
Why some aircraft have 2 (787/777) and other 3 IRS (747-400) ? new generation are more reliable ?
Thanks for this nice video

So is the irs a more modern version of the gyroscope on older planes?
Gyroscope is a part of IRS... Laser gyroscopes are more modern.
One question what's hard for you landing or take off.
No)
IRS - Laser Gyros
INS - Mechanical Gyros
What in simple words is Required nav perfirmance and Actual navigation performance ?
The limit that you need to follow and what you actually follow...
hi captain
can i select VS in CDU for climb Like 1000 or 2000
in VNAV if i on autopilot
after take off
plane 777
Hi, I am not a B777 pilot, sorry I don't know. On B737NG you use MCP to set the V/S
What is that plus mean, under HDG/STS 4:30
Does it have something to do with RNAV?
Yes, without the IRS the RNAV navigation is not possible
Thanks, that's what I thought.
