Den Oldenburger Weihnachtsmarkt kenne ich sehr gut! Du hast Ihn, für Engländer, sehr gut erklärt. Es ist sehr lustig anzuhören, wie für uns so Selbstverständliches kommentiert wird!
Danke for the great vid! I'm an American looking at the possibility of studying at the University of Oldenburg for a semester. This was really helpful for getting an idea of what the city is like.
Yay, a Weihnachtsmarkt video! Also, your lighting and mic setup seems to be impressively good for a "new" youtuber. Nicht schlecht, Herr Specht! Since you mentioned Munich, here's a little trivia for you, maybe this is something you don't know. München comes from Münch, which is an old word for Mönch (monk). In the 12th century, the Duke of Saxony and Bavaria built a bridge over the Isar river, to profit from the salt trade on the Salzstraße (Old salt route). That's because you had to pay customs for salt transport. Next to the bridge, there lived a bunch of monks. Around the bridge, a market developed, which later turned into a full-fledged city. So really, the english name of München should be Munken. Well, at least it's not called Monaco (di Baviera), like in Italy.
+Mike Miller Interesting story about Munich and the monk background! I didn't know that München comes from Mönch. Thanks for the info, I'm sure that your comment was helpful to others too! Regarding the lighting and sound, the editing process is much quicker now (no more fine tuning the sound so I am loud enough) and the light make such a difference. :)
I was watching an older video of your's and was thinking she needs another microphone her voice is so low and then I started to watch this one and YES I could hear you so well so yes absolutely, your new mic is a blessing. I live in Iceland and our Christmas is rather similar to the German one, many of those traditions arrived here via Denmark.
your video is very charming .. i realy love it .. so kind to see we can love more than our own country, greets from thuringia and a nice time in germany for you :)
I didn't expect to see Flammkuchen being sold in northern Germany. Fammkuchen is typical for south-west Germany, northern Switzerland and Alsace (France).
Sadfully not every "Weihnachtsmarkt" is a pearl like the one in Oldenburg. Back in the days ... ehm ... twenty (or more) years ago, there were a lot of small "Weihnachtsmärkte" where you could buy many handmade stuff. They had a lot of charm. But today, there is almost nothing special anymore :( I miss those "Weihnachtsmärkte" of my childhood. But ... the one in Oldenburg looks very nice. By the way ... I like your Videos! It's funny how you explore Germany and it's kind of sad, that ... and this not meant to be insulting ... a young and very likable british Lady shows me (and maybe a lot of others germans) how self-evident (???) everything is. It is refreshing to see all the good things about Germany through your (and some others) eyes ;-)
+Harryontwowheels I suppose I see the positives more than the negatives about Germany. Of course, not everything is pearly white. ;) Thank you for kind words. :)
There is no business than the "Weihnachtsmarkt"-Business! The prices are higher than otherwhere, because the "Weihnachts-Gift-Ware" sells better with the holy Christmas-music.
Exactly-many wares are available at regular stores. And the food prices are inflated. But many markets have a Midieval or other theme with their own special drink-not just Gluhwein.
Neat video... Very cool to see what Germany is like at Christmas. Thanks from Texas, USA!
Your German language skills are nearly perfect
Can't believe I'm sitting here in Southern California weather missing my Hannover Christmas Market. Thanks for the memories.
+MrKgBizzle No problem. Maybe one day return to Hannover for Christmas? :)

3:07 once we are on the subject, those stuffed up academics at the Oxford Dictionary still insist on "aswell" 2:07 being spelled "as well" .
OLDENBURG! I live only 10 minutes from there!

Why did you move to Germany? 😊
lol ..back to the studio? you mean your living room ? ^^
It seems like you didn't get the joke there... lol
OMG the "Gewürze" at 5:50 are from my Uncle Eo!
+Wastydest hey that's cool! :)
+craftyapplepie Another Name for Reibekuchen is Kartoffelpuffer, hence the Potatoetaste 😎
Do you really call Champignons just mushrooms? Because there are many other edible mushrooms that aren't Champignons.
tuschman168 no mushrooms are Pilze in German. Champignons is a sort of mushroom
