I don’t know whether this video motivates me or demotivates me lol. One the greats hands down, I can’t even possibly dream of being that good
You may not be but you don't need to be. You aren't the best at drinking water, but you still do that don't you? You also aren't the best on the planet at paying attention to your surroundings: are you going to give up on that, too? You aren't the best in the world at whatever you do for work but you certainly won't stop doing that. This comment sounds kind of condescending but I mean to encourage and I hope the message comes across.
I started working on Pass’s amazing solo version of this tune from Virtuoso 4 tonight, and just getting the first 8 bars mostly down felt amazing. It’s a small step, but I think taking these things that give you that feeling and just touching a little piece of them really tips the motivation scales in a positive direction - I’d be playing until I pass out now if I didn’t have to work in the morning!
For the vast majority of us, this is just meant to enjoy and marvel over the excellence that is possible.
Wow what a marvelous piano player I haven't heard him play piano in a very long time. He is supremely talented god blessed him with a very special gift.❤
Oscar Peterson. What excellence is all about.
I am Professor of Music, I teach all of my students about the 3 H's of Jazz, how do teach the connection between Oscar's "hands" , "head" and "heart"? I saw OP in College live for 1st time in Chicago....I actually Hyperventilated 1 hour into the concert, and had to walk out....lol, I was totally overwhelmed !!! I BELIEVE GOD......What a GIFT....been listening to Oscar for since 1979, I am still at not there , lol.....I need more GOD....Lessons cant teach that........God Blessed Oscar...what can we learn about the HEART of Music ?
takes some great deal of humbleness to be the best ...and still to remain silent because your guitar is not needed next to the piano played by Oscar
This dude is incredible. A complete master. Theres no other words......but who. In the hell. Had the dumbass in them to dislike this heavenly display of musical ability. Im just dissapointed in the human race right now. How can you not enjoy this eargasm that this man put us through?
OMG. Just omg lol. He is just insane ! There are layersss of skill there, his touch is immaculate and his knowledge just beautiful. What an accomplishment, an incredible man.
Un angelo nero..😊
Ben detto 👼🏿👼🏿
Had a couple of albums of Mr Petterson when I was young, I listened to them all the time, then I got bored!!! Now listening to him again after all those years makes me feel nostalgic❤
Absolutely beautiful, an artist for the ages!
Clear and brilliant sound 、it's looks like classic piano.
He trained classically!
So beatiful! Muitoooooo bommmm! Deus abençoe estes artistas!!!!!
I could listen to this all night long. And sometimes, I do.
What musicianship!
Incredible journey✈. Oscar is so fascinating!!! It's like God sent an angel down to earth to entertain us.
Oscar's left hand is so gentle while his right hand flutters dynamically up and down the keyboard.
4:18 - 4:36 FREE PIANO FINGERING LESSON, EVERYBODY
I laugh in disbelief every time I watch that part.
Which practice materials can grow people up to that level?
@@tedbloh Simply slow the playback speed in the settings option and you can hear and see how Oscar plays that section (and others, of course). Then you can practice it yourself (and others, of course) . It's a free fingering lesson!
@@jonathangreenberg2362 Back in the 1970s, my gran have me an old radiogram which had four playing speeds - 78, 45, 33 and a third, and the obsolete 16 and seven eighths!
The beauty of the 16 rpm setting was that, being almost exactly half of 33, I could play L.P.s at half speed so the key was the same, albeit down an octave.
I learned countless tunes that way!
진짜 최고
love this video. oscar was a gift from god. no question he made an indelible mark on the world.
Who was he?
How happy a piano must be to be played with panache, elegance and sublime clarity ! I've surprised myself by spontaneously applauding after the last note!
Oscar Peterson. Lived the reason he was born.
Thank you Lord for the replay button!!! What an amazing gift!!!
Oscar Peterson is a special sort 😯
3,212 views. I probably have half of them. :)
Un fabuleux pianiste !
He's unbelievable!
This is what it means to be ‘in the matrix’. He’s inside the music; impossible to make a mistake. Wouldn’t we all love to experience that!
OSCAR ! ! !
Now that's music! The great Oscar Peterson.
I love the UA-cam video when they said he went to next level genius. He starts out at that level!!!!
The fact that this play got me chills, is something as u might say MASTERPIECE
May I recommend Gene Lees' book: 'The Will To Swing' about Oscar Peterson? It gives an in-depth portrait of his life and portrays his will always to perform at his peak, with all deserved acclaim and notwithstanding the criticisms about his playing.
Thank you for the reference.
The King👑👑👑👑
Absolutely incredible
Not much you can say- sublime!!
I believe there are ten gods of jazz music. Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Oscar Peterson, Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones, Wes Montgomery, Art Blakey, Duke Ellington, Coleman Hawkins, Thelonius Monk, Dizzie Gillespie, and Bill Evens. Sue me if you want. These are my Mount Rushmore of Jazz.
Not a bad list. But Dave Brubeck and Art Tatum deserve a spot in there somewhere.
t4fnut yeah I know 😂 but there’s so many otherworldly jazz artists that deserve to be up there, but not everybody gets to have a seat, kinda like a lottery if you will.
@Paul...Teddy Wilson? Chet Baker?
When only the best will do!
another bass player out of work
John Jordan Ha! The band, like the audience, were hypnotized by his genius and musicality. ❤️
Bahahahah! There are NO Bass Players "out of work!" But I getcha!
What genius!😃
Someone please point an AC at this poor man, he's clearly heating up from all the fiery notes. Seriously tho he was sweatin beads wth guys is this how you treat a legend
Oscar would sweat when he reads.
OP is the master.
+Bob Cardone Yes he is genius...
I love OP but Tatum was the master.
Pull And Be Damned ö,
@@BenStarnercorrect , all hail Art ! No denying OP’s brilliance either
Can someone get this on Spotify please? I want it on my playlist there, it's perfect!
I see only one piano player, but I would take oath that i am hearing two piano players. Sorry that I spoke in error. OP is at the piano; the expert is at the keyboard. Oscar has been my musical hero since 1962. RIP Oscar. You are still alive in my ears.
2:27 The lick
No
That is a genius.
Bunny Berigan played it good. Oscar Peterson plays it excellently!
'' THE IMMORTAL '' OSCAR PETERSON.
Pure class
On of the great craftsmen of quality music in Jazz or any musical genre. 😎
This is just enchanting...
Who was the single dislike! ?
Idiots who know nothing about music, or those who are insanely jealous of his talent and skills on the piano.
Ryan Villanueva Keith Jarrett
M GM Music someone could have accidentally push the down button and not realized it, no one in a right mind would purposely hit the down button . This is the master of all Masters.
WOw
How can you be so god damn tasteful and free at the same time
Not often do you witness a human living the reason they were born. The natural and the metaphysical in
total harmony.!!! Otherworldly.
When you flip to 184 in the sixth edition real book you will find another reason why this is so good. Such amazing feel! Writing cant capture what he is doing here!
Not positive, but 4 people who watched this video may have have died instantly.
Layers and layers of pure elegance!
וואו
My drug.. Oscar❤️

Un fenomeno...!!
Fabulous.
Who taught him to play piano?
His teacher lineage goes all the way up to Beethoven.
Paul de Marky, whose own teacher was a student of Franz Liszt.
4 bassist dislike this video 😂😂

Amazing,
Shit what kind of heroine is this
What followed this!
You mean who dared to follow this!

Nowt

Não gosto de muito arpejo no piano, principalmente piano do Oscar Peterson ...
