I like how for no reason whatsoever this skit takes place in an m&m store, aside from the one off hand comment about brown M&Ms it was literally just the setting lmao

Kudos to M&M for no reason, allowing the rights to let this skit happen.
Its called parody. All they had to do was copy their branding indiscriminately and make fun of them.
This wouldn't count as a parody, because the skit doesn't really have anything to do with M&M. It's just set in an M&M store. SNL would have needed the company's permission to use their brand in this way.
Most likely, this was a collaboration with M&M, where the company actually paid SNL to have their brand be front and center in the skit. A decent portion of SNL's revenue comes from branded content and product placement. It's a way for them to show less commercials.

The black people love to talk loud in the theater, often with the cell phone
That reminds me to Scary Movie 2, when Brenda (Regina Hall, such a hilarious actress) talk loudly on the phone in the movie theater and annoyed everybody, and they finally can't take it anymore and stab her repeatedly. 😂😂😂 I don't know that it represents black people though, because I've seen people in my country (Indonesia) did that, too...especially people from villages/small towns.
A youtuber who's channel I can't remember right now explained it to us who don't live in the states about how it works. She was reviewing Ma while appliying some makeup (that's the spin of her series).
It's somewhat of a tradition for black people to actively engage with the film by talking to the movie characters or the audience while at the theater, and they would build up on that. Imagine a showing of Rocky Horror, but with every movie, if they so desire to start.
The racist part is that Jim just takes for granted that Joe does that, that all black people do it and they do it all the time.

Watch the bidet skit. It's one of my favorites of his.
Let me ask a probably dumb question:
But what’s the point of this being set in an M&M store?
Like humans Eminem's have different colors and feelings. Idk 😂
its just part of the joke, man. such a happy place with so much racism
Because it’s funny watching a dude in an M&M costume being racist
It's IRONY. . .M & Ms come in all colors, sizes, and flavors, just like people, none better or worse than the others, all equal. However, Racist Jim fails to see this same perspective amonst his own peers. If all the characters in this skit wore M&M costumes, the irony might have been a bit more obvious.
To make the brown M&M joke. And because it is completely random it adds to the humor.

3:27 "I wasn't finished with my list. Please don't talk over me. This is not a movie theater."

him staring off camera also not at the actors his talking to makes me think he's reading off something he even messed up his lines the way you would when your reading them not when you memorize them
Yeah, SNL famously has que cards, they even made a video about it. The sketches are written that week so the actors would only have a couple days to memorize tons of lines from multiple different sketches. I've been in a lot of live theater productions and it would be insane to expect actors to memorize all of those lines in that short amount of time, during a live show no less.
