      I was looking at all different types of optics. They guy from EuroOptics mentioned that the Meopta optika6 had better glass & turrets than the Leupold VX5HD. As soon as I looked at the 3-18X55 Optika6 with your Reticle I was immediately sold. Thank you soo much for such a innovated and Brilliant Optic !!!!

      I am glad you like it. To be clear, I do not work for Meopta, so I had nothign to do with the design of the scope itself. They asked me to help with reticles, so that's the extent of my involvement.

    Bought one today. Can’t wait to take it to the range. Price is $895 - $950 now. Was able to purchase one for $825. And I ordered with the MRAD reticle. Seems to be a lot of confusion where the scope is made. All of their scopes are assembled in Czech Republic. However with this model some of the components are from Philippines. Their higher end models are made completely in Czech Republic.

    I also prefer scopes to boxes! Interesting reticle. I have followed a similar philosophy (with varying text sizes, two fonts and bold/plain text) for Range Safety Rules, especially in posters covering key points. Uptake of this scope/reticle combination should hopefully be very good. Best of luck with it.

    Hi DLO and thanks for your reviews. I need your expert opinion please.
    I read your guide 'Riflescopes: Under $1100' and I am settling around the Meoptas for close range airgun varminting and small game out to 350 yards.
    It was suggested to me to go for an Element Nexus for optics, weight and 10m parallax but I do not want to spend that much.
    Meopta MeoPro Optika6 3-18x50 FFP is sufficient - wish I could have a bit more magnification.
    Meopta MeoPro Optika6 3-18x56 FFP 50g heavier - wish I could have a bit more magnification.
    Meopta MeoPro Optika6 4.5-27x50 FFP seems to be perfect - but min parallax 22.8 m.
    Meopta MeoPro Optika6 5-30x56 FFP 200g heavier & min parallax 22.8 m (the only one in the series with ED glass?)
    Q1. Do you think min parallax 22.8 m will be a problem for close range varminting?
    Q2. Do you have a better scope suggestion for my requirements?
    Thanks and keep those vids coming !

    • @ertatta
      @ertatta 2 роки тому

      Supposedly the 4.5-27 is not on the same level glass wise as the 3-18’s & 5-30. 3-18 is more than enough to get you out to a thousand yards.

      @conandrum74 2 роки тому

      @@ertatta thanks for the reply. This is what worries me. ua-cam.com/video/6W8p0t7U1ag/v-deo.html
      At 300 yards the image is fuzzy and out of focus with the nexus.
      PS. You meant 1000 feet

    • @DarkLordOfOptics
      @DarkLordOfOptics  2 роки тому +1

      On question 1: that sorta depends on what is close range to you. Personally, I'd be using much lower magnification when that close, which increases depth of field. You'd likely be fine.
      On Question 2: Within its price range, Optika6 does really well. Another good option is Element Titan. They have a 5-25x56 now and the 3-18x50 is coming soon. Element Nexus is a better scope than all of these, as you correctly pointed out, but it is more money. Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 should also be in this conversation, along with Athlon Ares BTR.
      Now, some general comments: I have not spent much time with the 4.5-27x50 Optika6, but I thought that the 5-30x56 model was a notable step up from that. I have 3-18x50 and 5-30x56 Optika6 scopes and like them a good bit. I am not really a magnification hog in that I tend to not use the highest magnification too much. However, if you are shooting something really small at 350 yards, I'd lean toward the 5-30x56.

    • @conandrum74
      @conandrum74 2 роки тому +1

      @@DarkLordOfOptics I can get the relevant scopes at the following prices:
      (I am leaning towards the 5-30 magnification as you said).
      €1015.00 Athlon Ares BTR 4.5-27x50 G2 SF FFP MRAD - MINIMUM PARALLAX 23 METERS
      € 860.00 Meopta Optika6 5-30×56 FFP MRAD - MINIMUM PARALLAX 22.8 METERS

      € 640.00 TITAN 5-25x56 FFP MRAD - MINIMUM PARALLAX 15 METERS
      Q1. Is minimum parallax of 22.8m going to be a hindrance when targeting say a rat or pigeon at ~10-15m?
      Will the target be perfectly in focus, but the reticle will be floating and moving around over the target?
      Basically I do not know what problems to expect...
      Q2. Any comments on best bang for the buck on the price list I posted above?
      As always many thanks!!!

    • @DarkLordOfOptics
      @DarkLordOfOptics  2 роки тому +2

      @@conandrum74 I am not up to speed on European prices, so I can't help you much there. Whether the target is going to be in focus depends on which magnification you like to be on. If you want to be on high mag at 10meters, get a scope that focuses down to 10meters or get a screw in aperture. Personally, I'd get the 5-30x and use lower mag at close distances.

I have a couple of Meopro 4-12x 50's they are outstanding, particularly in dusk light conditions when the bambi are getting about. What is very interesting is your thought's on the design, a #4 reticle at low power is exactly what you need for the up close and personal shooting situations, and the tree for the more focused and deliberate shots.

      I compared the 5-30 Optika 6 directly to my Razor G2 4.5-27 and found the Optika to have slightly better clarity and resolution at max magnification. I also noticed less CA on the Optika. I did have more stray light on the Optika but adding a sunshade mitigated the issue. The razor has a larger FOV and more forgiving eyebox but in my opinion, the Optika produced a slightly tighter image (notably so when dialing down the Optika to 27x). Colors are slightly cooler on the Razor by a tiny margin. I also seemed to experience less eye fatigue behind the Optika although I cant explain why. Downrange, practically speaking, I noticed more detail when looking through the Optika at max zoom. I did not like how muddy the razor's image gets on a hot day at max zoom. Both subjective tests had these scopes on the same rifle, rings etc. I think getting behind the razor is faster but when you focus on the details (like a brick's texture or grout work on a house at 100-200 yards) for me, the Optika seemed to provide a more accurate image. I must have gone back and fourth in doubt for many hours but honestly, the Optika 6 blew my mind...at any price. I wouldn't spend the extra money on the razor although I will say the illumination and turrets are superior on the razor. Optika's turrets are positive but are not as easy to manage as the razor's. You can feel the rotation and click on the razor without overdoing it while on the Optika, you have to be mindful of each click without over-revving past your stopping point. Both tracked well during my box tests but I would rather have the razor's turrets at the end of the day. The zero stop works well on the Optika but due to the mechanical design of the relationship between the cap and markings, getting the adjustments to always align with the marks takes some fiddling with the top cap screw.

      In the USA, there are plenty of dealers. CameraLandNY, LiebrtyOptics, SWFA, etc. If you want to contact me directly, use the contact form on my website. That goes to my e-mail.
