PERFECT! I found one of these Bose Sound docks in the trash at our building. Snagged it, and came googling for a solution. This one will do just nicely! Thanks.
Update. There are 2 different types of Sounddock 1 called A & B. Sounddock 1A has a firewire charging voltage of 12V for early ipods and 1B has a 5V charging voltage for later ipods. Both models look the same and you can only tell the difference from the serial numbers. Iaw the Apple pin notation pin 18 (Bose pin numbers are different) is a pin providing an ipod output of 3.3V to switch the Bose on (same both early and late versions). I'm not sure where or how the 2Kohm resistor was determined in the above video. From my own experience for Version 1A to drop the 12V wirewire voltage to 3.3V the resistor needed was 390Kohm. A 2Kohm resistor sends nearly 10V down thw 3.3V rail!. Form version 1B to drop the 5V charging voltage down to 3.3V the size of resistor is 6.75Kohm. There also would appear to be a common problem with 1A where the firewire voltage is actually 17V, this is clearly far higher than it should be and may contribute to the 1A failure rate.
Thanks Will, have been using Aux with my 30 pin Bose dock (paid aud$250 about 7 years old). Will definitely give this a try, it’s such a great speaker, Perfect for my office.
hey!! i bought this device as well for my speaker but a constant humming sound comes when this device is put on the docking station.. i ll be glad if u could help!!!
Sounds like something wrong with ether the adapter or your stereo. Can you use the 30 pin adapter on the stereo with another device to see if that the problem or use the adapter another stereo. That what I would do.
Great video. Some good ideas however I have tried a couple of these Bluetooth devices with my old Bose Sounddock and they both create a lot of background noise. Similar comments from other users ☹️

I have the Bose series 1 that is not Bluetooth or portable. The ipod can't hold a charge after so many decades. I'm looking to get songs on my Samsung phone to play wirelessly on the old & still almost like new Bose Sounddock series 1. The adapter is my only hope before tossing it in the bin. Does the adapter pull power from the Bose? And do I need to buy the Amazon device to get this to work or manually control it from the phone?

Hi, just saw your vid about the bluetooth adapter and wondered which brand of adapter you recommend as the links you have posted are no longer active. Also doe they last. Some reviews have said after a month they don't work. I found my Bose Soundock and thought I would have to pitch it but I couldn't help but think there must be a way to connect and presto found your vid. Thanks L.
Trying to find an audio solution for my Series 1 Sound Dock, and the bluetooth adapter you linked is no longer on amazon. I have a few questions. Does that blue tooth adapter to the 30 pin connection work with the bluetooth on a lightning device (not 30 pin)? What was the brand? Does your adapter still work, as this could be the reason it is no longer for sale on amazon?
I've got 2 and 2 different brands. They both work great. Thanks for sharing, and I also thank you for adding a sense of humour into the video. Nice one. Can the Bluetooth work with Bang & Olufsen Dock-Speakers?

There’s a button on there try holding down for 10 to 20 seconds. Sometimes you have to play with it to get to to work.
