I really like what Atkins has done to the outfield, but I'm equally impressed with what he may have done for our dugout dynamics. Varsho and Kiermaier suggest a maturity and toughness that too often appeared in short supply on this squad. Gurriel and Hernandez could be infuriatingly carefree when the team was behind; when we needed the players to get hard nosed and stubborn. Looking forward to seeing what impact these guys have on the temperament of this club.
Tend to agree as well. It was fine with Montoyo as manager as they were gaining experience, but it was often too silly in the dugout. These changes, coaches included suggest its really time to focus. Hopefully this only fuels Vladdy to another level.
We loved you daulton. Never think we didn’t want you in az. We wish you all the best. We traded from surplus to get an area of need and it’s painful but we know you will do great things
All 3 of the starting OF for the Jays in 2023 play the same way-full speed. It's gonna be harder this year for opposing hitters to sneak a ball into the gaps or down the line.
I think the transition in the clubhouse attitude started with Montoyo getting canned before the all star break, then the promotion of a clearly more hard nosed manager in Schneider, then bring in Mattingly as the bench boss, then out with the sunflower seed crowd corner outfielders and in with Varsho and Kiermier. A full season of this will be night and day different
Every player says he is going to hustle, go all-in, everyone says they are going to do what they need to do for the team to win. From what I have seen and heard others say and he himself now, I am believer. Welcome to the Jays and Toronto.
He is good yet underrated just because he played for the D-backs and hit for a low BA. But excels in just about everything else. The Blue Jays will be getting an excellent deal out out him.
Wow I really liked that first reporter from The Athletic! I didn't know the Blue Jays had such an impressive looking reporter covering them for The Athletic!
Welcome to Toronto Daulton, ithink youre going to be great!! I like how you adjusted your hoodie string 😀 cause i did notice one side really short, then it was fixed up after lol Go Jays Go !!!
Well done Kaitlyn McGrath. Interview a guy coming from Arizona, while playing blizzard footage from Toronto in the background. Just joking. Kaitlyn does a good job. Welcome to TO Daulton!
It’s a fair trade but man I’m gonna miss teo and Lourdes they are both solid dudes on and off the field but hey if this is what it takes to win welcome var to the blue jays we want another chip
Defence and pitching in win championships. Jays lineup everynight is going to be one of the best defensive lineups in all of the MLB. Platinum glove winners in Kiermaier and Chapman. Gold glove winner in Vladdy. Gold glove nominees in Merrifield, Varsho, and Berrios (when he pitches). Espinal has gold glove potential. Kirk was 5th in the MLB in catcher defensive adjustment. The rotation 1-4 is as good as any if Berrios has the year he has always had minus last year. The pen is better with Swanson. Tiedemann and Pearson could be wild card arms. Offence definitely has taken a hit even though Varsho does help cover a lot of Teo’s offence. Kiermaier’s offence doesn’t cover whats been lost in Gurriel but I dont see the offence being an issue much. Ross could still be looking to add another lefty bat that can bring some power/obp!
Varsho has a huge opportunity to get even better in toronto, slotting him in the lineup with hitters like bo, vlad, springer, chapman etc he’s gonna see a lot of pitches this year, wouldn’t be surprised if his numbers improve
With the addition of Varsho, It looks to me that the Blue Jays might have the best starting position players in Baseball. Is this view over-optimistic?
Nobody on the Jays outworked Bo Bichette, and his hitting carried the team in September. He continues to work on his D, but he is not the calamity some make him out to be at SS. Ultimately, probably be a 2B. The player who needs to bounce back the most in 2023 is Vladdy, whose D improved but his hitting dropped off the table compared to what he did the previous year. A fan of both, just being (I believe) accurate. Next player we need to improve from 2022 is Jose Berrios. Also a big fan of his; he battles. Again, just being (imo) honest and accurate with criticism. If our pitching improves at all, this team will be back in the playoffs and probably have a better chance at moving deeper. Pitching and D is wildly underrated by many fans in this era of long ball dominated play. This team will scratch and claw for more runs, and its D will subtract runs from the opposition.
@@allan2765 We gave up one of the game's best prospects for Berrios. Despite his obvious talent, there was a huge drop off after Manoah, Gausman and Stripling ( who obviously is gone ).
I wonder how long it’s gonna take for Kevin to slam into one of these dudes in outfield trying to catch every ball that he has no business trying to catch.
The jays are the only glimmer of hope for TO sports fans. I don't even watch the leafs or raps anymore since they are mismanaged and incompetent. At least with the jays you can see logic and some semblance of a plan.
Already seeing signs of how terrible of a trade this was for the blue jays. Varsho literally is such a bad hitter he shouldn’t even be in the league. The success Moreno and Guerriel are having this spring is impressive. Big L for the jays . What an embarrassing trade wtf
I will laugh at all of you in 8 months Moreno is the next superstar catcher on the level of Jadier Molina. Bats for average, incredible arm and framing with great speed at the C
Welcome DALTON to the 6 by the way to 1 reporter its Merry Christmas and it is not offensive to any person I've had the pleasure asking my private pole is 100% Not makes me wonder why the government canceled it just saying the start of tyranny
Bro Lourdes lost his power an is injured alot an isn't great defensively I think it's fair an Moreno is great in a sample size an you have to give something to get something an something we desperately needed
Moreno will be a great player, gurriel is on his last year of his contract, with bo and vlad needing extensions, he was the odd man out. But varsho also has the potential to build on last years success while not having to be the best player on the team, who knows, varsho could end up being a 30 hr 20 steal guy with ++ defense
I love this. Look at how genuinely excited he is to be a Blue Jay, every time he mentions it he smiles.
Very exited to see Varsho in Toronto and this blue jays 2023 roster is looking amazing.

I agree, and although I liked Hernandez I won't miss that stupid sunflower seed shower bs.
Gonna miss you Varsh! I hope you can pull it together and win with the Jays!

Agreed. Had him in fantasy last year. If you play I'll share my rankings with you just go to the fantasyword dcom
Excited to see Varsho in the toronto outfield! Great talent and hopefully a great year for the blue birds upcoming
I met him at the game in May.He was warming up Merrill Kelly and also Jeff Banister. He was very respectful and was thoughtful enough to say hi

How can you not like a guy wearing a Pat McAfee sweatshirt. If they all can stay healthy the Jays OF could be the best in the AL.

would have won it last year if mookie betts wasn't also in the NL.
Huge fan of the pms hoodie and now huge fan of his.

How's Darsho for a nickname?
varsho is gonna shine in toronto.

Varsho is Mike Trout in the making. Great trade, and all the best in TO, Daulton.
Put the crack pipe down 😂
Thanks for the observation, Mr. Jim Beam.

Yeah ummm maybe pump the brakes a bit bro.
Welcome to canada

Maybe this guy will get Bo to understand how to focus better, both on defense and at bat. He will show him up all day long.
Bo is the first out to practice and the last to leave. He doesn't lack focus. He needs to work on defence but his offence was great last season.
Nobody on the Jays outworked Bo Bichette, and his hitting carried the team in September. He continues to work on his D, but he is not the calamity some make him out to be at SS. Bo Bichette led the AL in hits the past two seasons.

you got Kiermaier mixed up with Pillar...this kevin knows how to run routes hence why is the best defensive center fielder in mlb the last decade
