Brosnan was great as 007. Even from his days on Remington Steele, I thought he had the charm to play Bond. They were stupid to get rid of him. Glad he bounced back
When I watched the first episode of Remington Steele (one of my all time favourite TV shows), I turned to my wife and said, want to bet who the next James Bond will be? It was fairly obvious to any Bond fan he was made for the role. Very disappointing that he was dumped for no obvious reason.
Yep, they do this all the time. Watch videos on guns and airlines. They'll say 3 5 7 instead of Three Fiftyseven. Or 7 4 7 instead of 7 Fortyseven. its annoying.
I still don't understand how they went from Pierce Brosnan to Daniel Craig. No offence to Daniel Craig, he has his own style, just not a suave super agent.
Certainly irritating. I'm sure all the BONDs, would agree..and then make a very bad..and equally funny joke about it..while playfully testing out another fine product from Q-Branch..lol.!😊
I watched the Bond's films in the cinema since 1973 (Live and Let Die) and I really liked Brosnan's Bond. The way he said: "my name is Bond" is, to me, just perfect.
Brosnan always looked like he was having fun with the role, each actor brings a different tone to their series i don't think the public could shift to the darker Casino Royal with him and sadly its a ticking clock with longevity in those movies as well. It would be great to see him in an Old'Bond movie though
"This is the reason why Pierce Brosnan was fired as 007... Pierce was born..." That's EXACTLY why I detest that kind of "documentary "... Stick to the subject please... 🙄🙄🙄
Pierce Brosnan was probably the best actor to ever play James Bond. Unfortunately, he had to work with some of the worst scripts in the series. And awful cgi as well. Goldeneye is great, though.
They raved about Casino Royale. It was absolutely dreadful. The whole death of Vesper Lind sequence was overblown and boring. All the Craig Bond movies are dull.
$1.1 billion in box office takings for Skyfall alone says you’re wrong. $774 million for No Time To Die doesn’t make it a flop either, in fact it was the third highest grossing Bond film ever. Such a shame Santa didn’t leave you that extra braincell you’ve been craving. Brosnan was a great Bond, but after Goldeneye the writing got worse and worse. Invisible cars and OTT CGI 🥱
They didn't fire him. He wasn't under contract to make a fifth film. They wanted to go with a Bond Begins storyline (Batman Begins was a success in 2005) so they recast the role.
One important point that you got wrong. Pierce Brosnan wasn't fired from the role of James Bond. He had a contract for four films. He wasn't under contract to make a fifth Bond film. The producers decided to recast. Brosnan claimed the producers were going to make a fifth film with him but they changed their mind. The producers, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson, said they were tired after making Die Another Day and wanted to reinvent the franchise so a new actor was necessary. It's fair to say Daniel Craig's Casino Royale was less cartoony than Brosnan's Die Another Day. The producers did give the franchise a shift in tone and for better or worse Pierce Brosnan was considered not right for the change in direction. Casino Royale was also a Bond Begins storyline so not suited to an older established Bond actor such as Brosnan.
I also believe Pierce Brosnan is the best one who played James Bond He pulled it off like it was nothing Started with GoldenEye and moved his way on up I think Pierce Brosnan is also the first one who got his own game back in the 1990's
Billions in box office takings say you’re wrong. And Brosnan was in his mid 50s by the time Casino Royale was made, hence why Die Another Day was as much fun to watch as having your toenails pulled out.
His singing didn't get mixed reviews in Mamma Mia, his singing was AWFUL!!!!!!!!!! My ears hurt hearing him singing. I joked with my wife that I didn't realize James Bond sucked so much as a singer. 😁😁
As for his looks, they are probably as as handsome as a guy could get. And he did have a charm about him. I accepted him as James Bond, of course love my favorite was Sean Connery. 3:403:423:47
P. Brosnan is a very versatile actor. His one time co-star, Stephanie Zimbalist from Remington Steele described Brosnan as an excellent character actor who is very handsome. His variety of early roles in Ireland and after Bond certainly confirm that view. Brosnan always gives 100% to each character. For Bond he brought by intention a far more nuanced emotional Bond which Connery was not allowed to do. The short original novels portrayed Bond as brutal and suave. No emotional depth. Connery, Timothy Dalton, and Daniel Craig were spot on with their versions of the character. Roger Moore enlarged his TV Saint character for his Bond. Little relation to the novels. I greatly enjoyed all of them for their versions. All were entertaining. Now, Bond Girls open up an interesting topic. Commentators really must read the original short novels to have a legitimate basis for opinions other than "I Like . . ."
What on earth are you on about? Pierce never acted in Ireland, he only portrayed characters originally from Ireland who emigrated to other parts of the world.
@@IrishScribbler Please read his bio and filmography on IMDB and other Internet sources His Irish based production company Irish Dreamtime is also interesting. Best to do basic research.
He had what the stereotype of Bond needs - elegance, good looks, arrogance but also self-irony, and emotion. That was what Sean Connery shaped. Roger Moore was a little too arrogant and aristocratic for my taste. For me the last Sean Connery movies was a highlight, because they made endless fun of the stereotypes. When he pours some liquid in a glass into the face of the guy that tries to kill him, and that guy screams and falls over as it it had been the acid from "Alien" - and then Sean Connery looks at the tag on the glass "urine sample James Bond" - that was priceless. For me Daniel Craig was the exitus of the series - the character has been reduced to a robotic killer machine. Like so many modern "heroes". All lone wolves that are on a revenge spree against the evil villain(s), in total self-justice, defying any laws and regulations. Killing becomes an aesthetic ballet, and realism is sacrificed to that. It is all not much better than an ego-shooter computer game. The hero has practically unlimited ammo. running out of ammo is just a dramatic interlude. Dozens of enemies shoot with rifles at the hero, not a single hit, the hero shoots while running and without aiming and kills with each round. When the hero gets hit, he says "Ouch!" and seconds later is in better physical shape than all the enemies. Handguns are not good at penetration at distance, but rifles are different. Wood panels or car doors are no match. The only safe place behind a car is the engine block. Also that is totally ignored in the movies of the last decades. While for germans like me that is anyhow all just a fairytale, as guns play no role in our everyday lives, in the US where guns are abundant and celebrated as necessary part of a true man's life, I have the fear people's ideas are influenced by such "performances". That guns are a legit means of handling a conflict, that self-justice is OK and that you as a hero will make it.
He was a good Bond, but his movies weren't good after GoldenEye. So the producers chose to start over instead of doing a Roger Moore again using him until he was way too old for the role.
