I've been obsessed with this song for a while now, but for some reason it never struck me as a Carrie & Quinn song. Which is kind of ridiculous when you read the lyrics. But then one day I listened to it & I heard it in a completely different way.
Then this video happened.
I've been working on this for over a month now because it has been so emotional for me to edit. But also because I was trying to say so much within just one video. As a detail orientated vidder, i find it extremely hard to make global videos, & this one isn't even that but yeah. XD
This video is about learning how to trust & love again. That's why I found it necessary to bring Franny into it. I've also been wanting to make a video with her for a while, so I really liked how this turned out.
One (of the many) reasons why Carrie & Quinn are a slow burn is because they are a bit of a paradox. What with Carrie now allowing herself to have meaningful relationships & Quinn not being able to accept love, it's quite a struggle. So what I've seen in the past few episodes (seasons for Carrie) is the reversal of that. That's also what I wanted to show here.
I don't know why I'm explain all this tbh. I'm sleepy & have verbal diarrhea PLUS I'm low key freaking out about the next episode (lower your expectations LOWER YOUR EXPECTATIONS)
p.s. : Currently listening to 'this is twice now' and my god their songs get me SO EMOTIONAL WHY

I still can't believe the show killed my favorite character. Quinn is the reason I kept watching.. this hurts. I don't think I can watch Homeland after this..

Yeah, daisy. I dont understand how killing favorite characters will make us loyal to the show. I dont understand how playing with our emotions will help ratings. Thats it for me too. :(
What mades us get attached to this charakter is his tragedy. His suffering makes us feel for him and wanting to see him better, jet him breaking down is the good writing. Especially him dying for something unnecessary like that.
Like Astrid said. He will never quit, not on his own. Even when hia body gave up, he kept moving forward. A solider to the end.
And don't get me wrong, I loved Quinn and seeing him like that felt awful, but the writing was good. No happy ending was good.
Part of me still wishes they had at least half an episode that everything was normal and they were together as a couple...but oh well
omg love this idea of carrie and quinn as parents, if only they had that chance together. Also this song is so good I just downloaded it XD

Showtime needs to write and deliver Quinn Prequel Missions. Explore the character's background, further reveal Dar Adal's off the book hitmen. The house where Quinn had flashbacks to, in New York with the diner nearby. SHOWTIME--if you want to excite the fans with a jolt, NEW QUINN MATERIAL.
Clare danes and mandy patinkin NOT for rupert friend so he's gone after exploiting his phenomenal acting talent. Quinn could have definitely recovered from foot drop and aphasia with therapy and been directing black ops so all a spin saying he couldn't. Writers did not honor soldiers affected with ptsd or war injuries rather made them look expendable. Seson 2 episode 4 throughout season 6 let the attraction between quinn and carrie solidify right up until they murdered quinn!!!!
We can say that Quinn was one of the best-built characters in history - alongside Carrie, Saul, Brody and Dar Adal... It would be possible to clarify the following doubts:
- I would like to see Homeland reveal how the CIA explained Brody in Iran and his death to the American press. Clearly, Javadi being able to take credit for capturing Brody helped his cause in Iran, but did the US government reveal Brody's role in Akbari's murder? Was his name cleared for the CIA attack? I'd love to know what you thought.
- Another loose thread: Paul Franklin and the murder of the "real" CIA bomber. You just did that ... why ??
Carrie was publicly humiliated, beaten, doped, shot and put her life on the line countless times without hesitation, just to make others see Brody as she saw him ... and succeeded. Abu Nazir, the CIA, Jessica and the show's own audience, no one came close to seeing Brody with the clarity Carrie has always seen. Carrie has always read Brody like no one else.
Ah, Carrie's dialogue with Javadi was awesome, it will be one of the most memorable moments of the series, without a doubt!

then! carrie saying 'you will die trying and i won't allow it' still gets to me, after all this time. cause that's the crux of the matter isn't it. 'they'd up and leave you soon enough', right. unless they die first, and unless you're kind of - basically - the cause of their death. of near death. i love how you included all of that. yup it's different from your usual, it's a wider perspective. + you factored in franny too, which adds another variable to their relationship. or maybe, a constant?

actually any scene where Carrie 'saves him' hits be hard. In a way it it's a big fuck you to 'leave you soon enough' & 'i'll fuck it up'. She's taking matters into her own hands & making sure that doesn't happen instead of assuming it will like her words insinuate. But then again, with this show words are often the last thing to be looking at when you want to understand something XD

What is backstory of why they made Carrie pregnant with Brody’s child?
Thankfully I had the foresight to document this back in 2015 because I am no longer in possession of the actual reference material. Here’s one reason, from Alex Gansa (original post here Hell Yeah Homeland no Twitter: "About to post a Gansa quote, re: C/B S3, tell me if I'm mistaken: "Carrie feels that he's finally redeemed himself, and has finally proved +" / Twitter )
“Carrie feels that he’s finally redeemed himself, and has finally proven to everybody that he is actually the man she always thought he was,” Gansa says. “And the only way to get him out of this funk is to tell him the truth, that she’s carrying his child,” a seed that Gansa says had been planted in Episode 6, “Still Positive,” for this very purpose.
My comment at this time, which I still stand by:
Am I reading too much into this or is Gansa admitting that the reason Carrie was made pregnant at all is to provide context for Brody’s own man pain and self pity at the end of S3?? Because what the fuck? I wish I was surprised, but I’m not.
At other points in the last few years I am 99.9999% positive Gansa has admitted that they had Carrie have the child to carry on Brody’s (her great love) memory in the show, which is why Franny has red hair.
