Found this on /r/Unity and now I'm subscribed! This is a nice video, and I think lightning will be very important in a game I'm probably releasing next year.
Hey Everyone, I'd like to add another method to this for any After Effects users. Create a new Solid and then use the "Advanced Lightning" effect. It creates realistic looking lightning with plenty of tweaks. To animate it just hold the ALT key while clicking on the little clock next to the "Conductivity State" and type in "time*1" . Be sure to change the Glow Settings found in this effects parameters to make it white so you can edit the color in Unity. Thanks for your tutorials Mr.Aguiar! They have been a tremendous help in getting my vfx up to professional level quality.
@@GabrielAguiarProd Hello, please help me, I want a single lightning strike to strike with the first method, how do I do?I only want a single lightning strike to strike
I'm trying to do a VR project where the player is a god defending his disciple and culture from invaders. I was wondering if you had some sort of tutorial on how to get the player to shoot lightning and destroy the invaders.
Looking at your thunder effect, I wonder if there is a way to have to burst in random positions in my level... There might be a start position someplace, or I would have to use a bunch of these
Nice video! I have an issue where my trail lightning moves up after it hits the ground (even though I have damping=1 and bounce=0). I think this might be because the noise is still moving the lightning. Do you know how this can be fixed? If I kill the particle on collision the trail disappears, so thats no good.
How can I generate it in the game? I tried modifying my script entirely but nothing works. I'm looking to modify time and location to my needs. Thanks so much for your great videos!!
Create a prefab of the Lightning, instantiate it whenever and wherever you want, access the particle system and change what you need. Let me know if this helped.
Nice VFX! Do you know you have a lightning generator in After Affect? Normally I use 4 different versions of a lightning in AE. 4 variations with more or less secondary branches on a 4x1 texture. Your execution is really good. :)
Gabriel Aguiar Prod. I was doing the noise and trail. I was following carefully and I dont know what went wrong. May I also know how did you do such dark scene? I have a scene which lighting is much brighter. Been following your tutorials for a while. Thanks.
Have you Collision turned on with Type set to World and in Sub Emitters selected "Collision" instead of "Birth"? Collision allows Unity to instantiate a sub emitter when colliding with something. Let me know if this helped, cheers.

I'll just use the particle trail and noise method. Thanks for showing me two other methods, though.

Do you sell this effect? Particularly I'm interested in the thunder and rain shown here.
How to make this background cloud?
Sir can u share this project

I also wonder if I could use the trails to create the forks... also I would overdrive the colour to create the bloom look of the bolt
Another amazing video! You're awesome!

For now I added a hacky script to move the lightning particle way underground when it collides with the ground

Thank you man.
Actually I once played with it, but to be honest didn't remembered to include it in the video. :P
MY subemitter doesnt work right. It goes at the start of the thunder not when it touches the ground. Any suggestions?
What is the type of Lighting you are creating? Procedural (Noise & Trail)?
