    Hi, this is exactly what I was looking for. I'm redoing a coffee table for a friend (eye roll) and she cannot decide on color. I've used BOSS as a primer, it really took the stink out of the table. I did the top in a brown paint (she didn't like) so now I'm thinking to use Espresso Gel Stain on the top and Gator Hide - family of four including two teens and two dogs. Sometimes it gets difficult to work with friend/relative. Thanks for the video, easy peasy explanation, so helpful.

      Hey Margo! No, The No Pain Gel Stain may have a slightly different look depending on the type of wood, due to stain absorption at different rates etc. I hope this helps!

    Hi Amy thanks for sharing this lovely technique. Is this product for any other surfaces than wood? If you do kitchen cabinets with a factory coating, do you have to use a top coat?

    • @DixieBellePaint

      Hi there! The stain wouldn't be able to seep into anything. You may be able to sand it and use No Pain Gel Stain. However, we recommend trying our Voodoo Gel Stain :) We hope this helps and happy painting!

      I just watched your tutorial on Dixie Belle jell stain. I'm doing a buffet for my daughter in law and the buffet is oak. She wants it stained in black and have some of the grain showing. She doesn't want it full coverage. Is this the stain that I want to use? Should I do a wash with caviar instead? I appreciate your advice.

    Thank you for the amazing video Amy !
    Is it a must to light sand before or no ? Thinking of redoing my kitchen cabinets however I think I would be easier to just clean and then stain ! So my question is does the light sanding make a difference or no ?
    Also for a kitchen is a top coat needed ? Which is best to ensure no lines ?
    I have a Dixie Belle sponge and just to ensure I am using the right top coat !
    Thanks as always !

      Hi Jannine! Sanding is not required, however make sure to clean properly before applying the stain! We recommend to seal with Gator Hide as this is our most durable top coat is perfect for high traffic areas! We hope this helps and happy painting!

      I put on two stains of the colonial black over top of chocolate brown kitchen cabinets, then added a third tonight !
      To be clear it won’t do complete coverage right ?
      Can always see the back colour however only slightly correct ?
      Wondering if I would need 4 coats possibly !
      Love DB products ! 💞

    Can you use DB gloss over the gel stain as the stain is oil based & gloss water based ? Thanku

    • @DixieBellePaint
      @DixieBellePaint  4 роки тому +1

      Hi ! SO we suggest waiting at least two weeks cure time when using a gel stain and wanting to gloss over top. When you think the piece is cured, try first in a more hidden area to test first before painting Gloss over the entire piece. Hope this helps ! 😍

    Good Morning. Can you help? I have golden oak vanity cabinets that are 24 years old. I have sanded them with 100 grit sandpaper to remove the shine. I have applied gel stain very lightly to one of the pieces (on the back) yesterday and put it into the garage where it is about 90 degrees with very low humidity. 12 hours later I can wipe off some of the gel stain. Shouldn't this be dry enough by now and ready for a second coat? I followed the exact application procedure that you used in this video.

    What would the weathered gray look like over an oak finish?

    • @AjsVintageDesigns
      @AjsVintageDesigns 4 роки тому

      I have a video on this page from 2 weeks ago using the Weathered Gray on a top and then added dry brushing over the other gel stain colors for a driftwood look. You determine the coverage based on how many coats you put on it. If you do 3 thin coats (letting it dry between coats) you can get a full coverage (you build up cover with additional thin coats). Hope this helps. Thanks for watching... Aj from Ajs Vintage Designs
