But even before that, it really just felt too big to be grouped with other ones. You don't normally think of indie games to be as loved by the mainstream crowd as Minecraft became, even before Microsoft.

Cave Story is not an Indie game. Cave Story is THE Indie game.
I would agree, Cave story should have AT LEAST made it to the top 3, but he did comment "unfortunately the script had already been finalized" so I understand -but still😡. Anyway, I was kind of offended that he didn't even mention how in depth and emotionally touching Cave story was, nor did he show any footage of any of the really decent parts (labyrinth, core, plantation, hell, Etc...), plus (some) of the music was a little bit sad when combined with the story, it is said to be even depressing. NOT TO MENTION, BALLOS, Curly brace (and her own mode), MULTIPLE ENDINGS, Secrets, Perfect-Masterfully-made game design, and so on I could LITERALLY go on forever.
PS. that one super secret prinny-cap thing for ONLY ONE of the Versions. (look it up on the internet)
PPS. That one fake but SOOOOOO realistic mod (fourth or fifth ending) considered to be "truly the best ending for cave story", I have to say it was PERFECT x 10.

Some of my favorite indies are Dust an Elysian Tale, Skullgirls, Guacamelee, Mark of the Ninja, and Castle Crashers.
I think I enjoyed looked at all the wonderful game suggestions than the actual video.

Dust: An Elysian Tail. Made by one guy; better than many action games in recent years.
Very strong list. I'd complain about certain games I like not being here, but frankly there are FAR more that 10 indie titles deserving of mention. That being said, I would encourage everyone here to play Botanicula and Machinarium. Both are wonderful, and extraordinarily creative.
Good list! I would definitely put Cave Story up higher on the list though. Other good inclusions in my opinion would be World of Goo, To the Moon, VVVVVV, and Binding of Isaac.

My favorite indie video game is Imperishable Night. A 2004 indie game in a long running still alive since 1995 indie game series called the Touhou Project.

Two indie games that I would recommend is Cave Story and the other one which is less known, Dreaming Sarah. I will admit that Dreaming Sarah is quite a interesting game cause it's kinda creepy and maybe weird but on the other hand, Cave story is like a platformer with an run and gun style shooting. I really enjoyed the characters and story but not so such with Dreaming Sarah but they're both worth trying out!

Undertale is a terrible game. The graphics suck, the story is cliche, and the gameplay is lazy. The only good thing is the soundtrack.

You guys should look into starbound, a 2-d sandbox game with the concept of space travel, you can travel to different solar systems that include different planets,moons,and even different portals orbiting one of many stars,which determines the difficulty of planets.oh, and a good hand full of species from Medieval robots to violent flower people to cow boy star people.
I'm familiar to the most of these games thanks to polish strimer and YT person Maciej "Wonziu" Makuła. And you forgot about Kerbal Space Program.

I am honestly not going to argue with your opinion (Even though I do like Minecraft) but Minecraft has honestly gotten worst in both game play and popularity. People are starting to hate on it, most updates are just out of place. It was after Microsoft bought Minecraft that it started going downhill from there. I would say Shovel Knight would be Number 1 because its decent in popularity, a very small amount of people hate on the game, the game play is amazing, and the updates are also a fun touch with free DLC as well. If it was the older Minecraft when everything wasn´t about that topic then I would agree, but it has changed to become worse sadly.

GOAT SIM?! Really? That's just a sandbox with semi-funny scenarios! The Forest isn't that good at all. There are many better survival/horror (I don't really remember how that game goes 'cause it wasn't memorable at all) games. A Story About My Uncle is good, but there are muuuch better platformers like Spelunky, Super Meat Boy, and Dustforce DX. The FNAF series is pretty bad. It banks its scare factor on jumpscares, which is pretty shitty. LIMBO and INSIDE have much better creepy atmospheres
