THANK YOU, YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST. STRAIGHT TO THE POINT, SHORT VIDEOS WITH ALL WHAT I NEED TO KNOW; PERFECT FOR A FULL TIME EMPLOYEE IN NURSING SCHOOL.
Love your videos! In my lecture today we were taught that status epilepticus is a seizure lasting longer than 30 mins, however in your video it was 5 mins?
Hi there! Yes, SE used to be defined as a single seizure lasting for 30+ minutes, however, that is no longer evidence-based practice. SE is now defined as a single seizure lasting 5+ minutes, or 2+ seizures within 5 minutes. I tried to find you a good peer-reviewed article about it, however, most are behind paywalls. Here is a link to the Johns Hopkins page about it, though! --Meris for Level Up RN www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/status-epilepticus#:~:text=A%20seizure%20that%20lasts%20longer,permanent%20brain%20damage%20or%20death.
