So cool, In my opinion this is what is gonna need to happen for UA-cam gear reviews to got to the next level. Real players live... no 37 takes in the "laboratory". I reall appreciated this thanks
Thanks for sharing! Both amps sounded fantastic and great playing! I’m quite familiar with the Smallbox having owned one for a year, great amp but personally I preferred the Jubilee in the clip, I thought it cut through the mix more, especially for lead work.
Something magical happens with boosting the Jubilee, instant monster. For Death, Thrash, Black Metal... and nail the 80s hard rock classic rock punk stuff of the 90s 2000s. Such a awesome sorcery this amp.
Excellent video bro! You know, I loved the sound of the Jubilee live - more presence and stood out in the mix a little more 😊 both great amps Jeff 😊 have an amazing day!!!
Jay Parmar yes it’s pretty classic Marshall. Bright on top and I didn’t even go really extreme. Thanks for watching Jay! I think I might have found a new niche for my videos. Since I’m out onstage anyway, might as well take stuff with me and test it.
I was in a similar situation where my friend's Marshall cut better than my Smallbox Dave walked me through modding mine by snipping the coupling capacitor over V2 That really opened the amp a lot more, and when I boost it with a Suhr Koko Boost reloaded, I get all the cut I need. Awesome amp
Really great review! Very helpful to hear the amps in context and that you took the time to explain a bit at the end was a nice touch. Great guitar playing too. Thanks a lot !
Great to see them in a live situation, makes such a difference. I had a Small Box but sold it as the band I'm in runs direct so I use a Helix. I sort of preferred the Marshall though.
Your band is great! This is a helpful comparison because it showcases the type of music I would probably play. You guys did a killer job with these songs. Thanks for taking the time to share.
"...you never really know until you take it on stage" ...there speaks an actual GIGGING musician. Great comparison video, really good to see it in this context. Thought I was going to prefer the Friedman but, the Marshall sounded fantastic.
The jubilee was the clear winner to my ears - the freedman seemed a bit muddy in the mids - but was good in the soaring leads. Thanks for the great demo I am contemplating getting the silver jubilee- so far I have not heard anything I like better but ya never know
Man, what sound is that!? So killer!! You are a great guitar player!! Awesome amps, the jubilee is more classic tone, but this two amps together is so fuck*ng great, thanks!!
In a live setting is the perfect demo! Two of arguably the zenith of rock tone amps. Impressed by everything because wisdom obviously rules here! Great choice of rock songs also...thanks for the video and your comments 👍
Both amps sounded great but the Jubilee was always much higher in the mix so it sounded bigger. It also even sounded as though you had a longer delay setting with the Jubilee, although this could have just given me that impression because it was louder. Didnt mean that it was bigger sounding. Ive got Two Jubilees and Two Friedmans (BE 100 and Dirty Shirley 40-Watt) all good amps.
i’m a fender guy. i bought the baby version of this beast the 2525H marshall last year and my first owned marshall in my 37 years of my existence. i normally sell and change my stuffs. now i sold my fender twin reverb and my vox ac15 due to let’s say finance problems. and now i only have one amp my marshall jub mini. and do rarely gigging now but i can say all you say is correct the silvee jubilee. for small gigs it kick ass already and for just bedroom playing it’s an overkill of enjoyment practicing with this amp.
Thanks for the video, i am looking at a jubliee in the basement as i type .it is a beast with total clarity and great grind that always delivers on stage.
@@BetonBenni where to start on this. I have not tried the 100 deluxe. Just a three channel version of what I have. Mine is a newer model with certain switches that are not even in the users manual. In all honesty, The Friedman has a much tighter sound. But that does not mean better. I find when I am playing through my single coil fenders or Les Pauls, I prefer my Marshall. It’s not as tight but it is sweeter. The mid range is where it’s at. It’s actually surprising how much gain the Marshall can put out. But it really starts to compress and fall apart after seven on the gain. In my opinion. When you start pushing the power tubes on the Marshall, magic happens. I really love this amp! Now on the B 100, every time I am thinking it can’t get any better than the Marshall, I plug into the Friedman and it blows my mind. It’s a tighter I British tone with ridiculous levels of gain! And it doesn’t fall apart, it just wants to cut your head off. This amp is no joke. I have a custom shop 62 strat and I can make that thing sound heavy as hell with the Friedman. Xtra switches on the back to pinpoint your tone. The main guitar I play through on this amp is an Ibanez prestige RGA 121. I have a dimarzio humbucker from hell in the neck, and a evolution in the bridge. Crushing tone with searing distortion. I think a good example of the differences in tone would be AC/DC big gun for the Marshall versus Steve Vai tone from passion and warfare. Just depends on what you’re looking for.
@@13mrbolivar I like to play modern metal stuff, sometimes at drop C, but I love Marshall type of amps, because they're sounding open and not toooo compresses, like most of the modern metal amps. Just my impressions on the feel. The Silver is a great 800, but what makes it jump to just a little higher level, especially on leads is a boost! The way the amp comes alive exceeds the SM50 for some reason. I love them both and could use either on any gig. But if I was going to go on lead tone with the boost it’s Marshall all the way!
Cool video! I had the 2555x head and combo. I liked them. I never played the small box, but I do own the BE100 Deluxe. The BE100 feels more natural organic and many tonal options compared to the jubilee. You should get a 100 Deluxe and do a comparison.
I'm currently trying to decide between a Smallbox, a JJ Jr, or one of the 20 watt Marshalls. So hard to decide. I also have an HXFX. Do you recall the settings you were using on the OCD for boosting?
I preferred the Marshall to the Friedman in this clip and the Silver Jubilee has never been one of my favorite Marshall amps. One of my favorite Kemper profiles is Michael Britt's Friedman BE profile. I'm surprised that I preferred the SJ in this clip. Side by side with a JCM 800 I doubt I would ever pick the SJ. Good band. Love the Dokken tune. We used to play that.
@satinwhip : Around 1987, when the Silver Jubilee originally came out, I already was gigging with two 800's (2203 and 2204) and a boost pedal in front . Marshall wins easily and half the price of the overpriced Friedman which copies it anyways. Why are the drums too loud? They overpower everything you need to A/B the sound better so you hear more than just banging drums.
@@FinalResonanceTV I still take the Marshall as it is half the price and sounds as good if not better. Plus it is not trying to copy another amp. The only Friedman amp that is any good is the BE-50 or BE-100.
Craven Moorehead this is true. Except if you know the Silver, it’s different than almost every Marshall I have ever owned in that the volume taper is pretty slow at getting loud. It takes 7-8 on the dial to achieve what Friedman does at 3.5 on the distorted channel. I volume matched them prior to the show. The lead boost on both is coming from Line 6 HX Effects. I did mentioned the Marshall has more low end girth, from its power plant.
Probley, the Friedman has more midrange cut, but you hit the Jubilee with a front end boost and it’s the best lead sound and feel of the two by a good bit!
Big fuck yeah! Booth sound good! But the Silver Jub rules! It sounds 3D, i dont know why! I whish ive been in that gig to drink some beers with you! Great band! Cheers from Portugal 🤘🍺🇵🇹
Mine is fat and perfect for live. Marshall need to be onstage to under stand why they have so much cut. They were designed with that in mind. They are not always the most pleasant alone.
ISNT THIS A 100W MARSHALL VS 50 W SMALLBOX? its not a fair comparison! of course the 100w will outshine the 50w in a live situation, unless you are micd thru a PA system. 100 will always have a bigger, clearer sound and cut thru, than a 50.
Yes this is true. It was pretty close. Just the Marshall did this magic thing with the ocd boost for leads that made its sustain incredibly cool. The Friedman was a little less fat with that. But your correct 100w gives you that extra weight and thump
@@FinalResonanceTV I understand. I have a JCM 800 2203x and a JTM45/2245 (The post will bring it tomorrow). I will have them wired into the stereo at 8 ohms. Box 4x12 Vintage 1960. Fender ABY switch. Overdrives Friedman BE-OD and Smallbox

Shocking I know!! In my mind I thought they were very even on the Rhythm Channels, but when I hit the Marshall with the OCD Boost Model! It did something so different than the SmallBox.
Jub set perfectly in the mix. Also seemed a tad louder?
Probley, the Friedman has more midrange cut, but you hit the Jubilee with a front end boost and it’s the best lead sound and feel of the two by a good bit!
Marsh was more 80s, SB was more 70s. Winner: Smallbox. Sounds less cliché
Big fuck yeah! Booth sound good! But the Silver Jub rules! It sounds 3D, i dont know why!
I whish ive been in that gig to drink some beers with you! Great band!
Cheers from Portugal 🤘🍺🇵🇹
Thank You!! Yeah dude you hit that Silver with the OCD and it’s incredible!
JUbilee ftw
I own the Marshall Hunter watt Jubilee also but I am having a problem with it being really tinny can you give me some tips
Turn the output Master up to at least 6.5. Also, you might want to lower your presence and treble and up the mids. Can also be your cab…
Mine is fat and perfect for live. Marshall need to be onstage to under stand why they have so much cut. They were designed with that in mind. They are not always the most pleasant alone.
Love my smallbox but jubilee here
Jubilee sounded amazing. How'd you boost the volume for the leads?
I used the HX Effects in the loop
nice job make this real world demo! could be called a draw, but the marshall is 100 watts and $800 cheaper.
The jubilee cuts through better and has a nicer creamier tone
Is this a reissue Jubilee or the 80`s model?
Hi there,
What speakers did you have in the cab?Great video and playing.
Thanks…
Vintage 30
@@FinalResonanceTV Thanks.
Marshall
Do you use some kind of power soak on your 100w amps?
No I don't yet.
I was just wondering because I’m going to buy a 2555x! Haha
So your tone is always on point, your just running the hx effects in 4 cable method?
We’re you running the 4 cable method with the helix or was everything in the front?
4cm
Its so obvoius, the Marshall won
How many watts is the Jubilee?
ISNT THIS A 100W MARSHALL VS 50 W SMALLBOX?
its not a fair comparison! of course the 100w will outshine the 50w in a live situation, unless you are micd thru a PA system.
100 will always have a bigger, clearer sound and cut thru, than a 50.
Yes this is true. It was pretty close. Just the Marshall did this magic thing with the ocd boost for leads that made its sustain incredibly cool. The Friedman was a little less fat with that. But your correct 100w gives you that extra weight and thump
Hi, did you have the amplifiers connected via the ABY switch please? If not, would it work into 2x8ohm stereo via an ABY switch? Thanks
I didn’t, I switched them on set breaks because my effects and switching was from the HX Effects unit.
@@FinalResonanceTV I understand. I have a JCM 800 2203x and a JTM45/2245 (The post will bring it tomorrow). I will have them wired into the stereo at 8 ohms. Box 4x12 Vintage 1960. Fender ABY switch. Overdrives Friedman BE-OD and Smallbox
what was that solo at 3:05??? Awesome playing!
Dokken- Alone Again
Thank you!@@bradleywood1499
What are the 2 songs after crazy little thing called love?
First was Alone Again by Dokken.
What Channel have you used on the jubilee?
Ch 2 the gain channel.
How did you hook up the fx? 4cable or straight in to the Marshall? Thanks
4 cable method and channel switching via my Line 6 HX Effects.
Final Resonance TV How did you get the channel switching for the Marshall to work.
Final Resonance TV Are you running green back speaker too
@@mickeyvon Through the HX Effects relay switching.
@@mickeyvon Yes that my favorite cab I have!
Love is all small box and jubille
I hate to say this. I did not dig the Friedman at all.And dude, I have a Smallbox Combo. After hemmoraging that much cash for a single combo,(to be fair the local Friedman dealer did charge me the max they figured they could get) I saw that Sweetwater had a blowout going on DSL40C's and I could have bought NINE of those for about the same price I SHOULD have picked up an old Traynor or 2 or 3 and made a devastating wet dry wet pedal platform.
lynyrddeville i understand what your saying. It’s a lot of money for sure. My Silver was $1200 on final closeout and it’s a great amp. Depends on what you prefer for eq focus.
Jubilee
Which song is that at 2:50, please?
Alone Again-Dokken
Marshall wins...
Shocking I know!! In my mind I thought they were very even on the Rhythm Channels, but when I hit the Marshall with the OCD Boost Model! It did something so different than the SmallBox. It was the perfect sustain and feel. The Silver is a bit of a beast like an old 800 with a little more gain, but add OCD and it’s the perfect high gain lead channel!
