It was an amazing day, I was an 18 year old cast member who worked in recreational watercraft. Four of us were recruited to be Chinese Mushrooms in the Grand Opening Parade. Starting at 0:17 for a few seconds I can see myself in costume just behind the Marching Toy Soldiers. I knew it was an important day, had no idea how historically significant it was.
This looks like it was such a fun opening! Happy 42nd, Walt Disney World! Here's to another 42 years, and beyond!!

I was there as a 15 yr old trombone player. We played 76 Trombones and the band was 8 wide and the length of Main St. At the hub we accompanied 3000 choir members who sang Wish Upon a Star. I still get teary eyed every time I hear it.
We are here this week in 50 th anniversary year.
