So, I discovered your comment on my first deep dive into Mr. Seger's songs. I wanted to hear some of the non-hits I've never heard and man are they just fine. Great singer/songwriter for damn sure.✌
I was there too. I was sitting way at the top in Tier C. One of those whistles in the background is mine. Man was it smoky up there. It was also my first concert. My cousin gave me the tickets as a birthday present.
Saying who's the greatest story teller isn't for me to judge. I believe BB King may hold that title, but it could be Kris Kristofferson or Bob Seger, Kenny Rogers is pretty good at it as is Dolly Parton
@@bobseger3824 this song touches my heart in a way I don't quite understand. I can see myself on the bus, in the restaurant and in each scenario mentioned in the song. And I love the saxophone in it. I was in a marching band and we traveled a lot but I bet it's different for you.
This song never gets old. Troubled kid in the 70's. Chance to get education on a full scholarship. Quit my senior year. Coach told me quit football by the time you are 25 you are going to be dead or incarcerated. Walked on at a college and got a (small) and got a scholarship. Still troubled and quit. In 1982 became a police officer and retired 12/29/2023. 41 years of service both as a street cop and sro. Saw a lot in me in those kids. Did not know their home life. Many of them got their only meals at school. Unfortunately you can not help everyone. At least 2 of them came and thanked me for making a difference in their lives. Worth more than all the money in the world. Now retired and enjoying life. This song has always inspired me. Thanks Bob Seger!!!
Saw him several times in Michigan, Texas and San Francisco. At the Fillmore West in SF, Alto Reed started the sax solo in the back of the auditorium, everyone turned around to see him as he came floating to the stage on a wire, playing the solo all the way down. Everyone of his concerts were great.
Still love him all these many years later....He's never lost the talent in any way! I'm sad he has done the Roll Me Away Tour.....and I won't be able to see him perform ever again!💖💖💖 The final show in Indianapolis could not have been any better!! I was there for the first night of that concert. I first saw Bob Seger in a little bar with about 15 tables spread out. I think it was down Brown road when it was a dirt road, not sure now. Beer was 50 cents. Iggy and the Stooges played there a short time after Bob did. I wish my wife could have seen this video with the flashback images. Bob Seger was always so meaningful for us. I worked with Joe Flores, a neighbor of his at Pontiac Motors for several years. One day my wife, then girlfriend, said she saw Bob at Pontiac Mall and she brought me back a Smokin OPs album. I would give anything if my wife was still here and we could go back in time.
In 1968 Bob Seger played at our school dance Stevenson High School in Livonia Michigan. He played a lot around the Detroit area honing his music skills back then.

They do. It just doesn't get played on the radio for the most part. A few get played on AC radio. Artists like Bruce Springsteen, Dennis DeYoung. Ringo Starr, Richard Marx, Styx, Journey, etc. have released new music in recent years. Goldmine magazine's critic listed a lot of older artists in their list of favorite albums and songs for their year ends recap. The late Burt Bacharach co-wrote the song "Always" with Richard Marx. Burt, was in his 90s when he co-wrote it and it is a great song. Showing that a lot of older songwriters never lose their ability to write great material. Bob Seger is one of those few singer/songwriters that get better and better with age. He is a very talented songwriter who writes from his heart and soul. His songs are about life. Life's good and bad moments and it's challenges and lessons. Each song speaks to different people. To write songs like turn the page and like a rock and etc. can pertain to just about anyone. It's a gift from God to be able to write songs like these by Several. And he gets better everytime.
I think Johhny Depps new song *Miss Hedy Lamarr* is also a good one from the heart and soul too. I would love to see these two work together or do a song together. =) That is my wish anyway.
RIP Alto Reed; will always remember your performances, and how you walked above the crowd at Pine Knob, on the catwalk, playing sax. Play on in peace.......
@@yuletide1751 You are stupid. Saw him in Austin on his last tour at age 72. Sat down 3 x to play acoustic then piano. Rocked it for 2 straight hours. I feel sorry for lil kids like you. I really do.

How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you're a fan ? Have a great day.. Stay Safe
Ive had the pleasure of seeing Bob Seger 6 times. This song always started the build to the kick azz finale. I saw him many times in a 12,000 seat arena back in the day. Amazing memories.

My brother's favorite! I love it too. Many fond memories of all the concerts in the 70's. Went to all when he rolled through Cincinnati. I was young and alive and loved that decade of great concerts. Am curious why his hair was short in '75 and super long in '76 and beyond. Seger in the 60's didn't have that long of hair when real long hair was more in vogue with the hippie age. 70's was long hair but not quite that long in '78. Funny how this song was never a hit until the live version and it is much better than the studio version.
Where'd the time go Bob?? 73 now and we're both white heads😂still love ya, first concert you were bob seger system,!!! Sixconcerts like yesterday!! Rock on Bob... God bless you 🌟
I heard the words, "turn the page" the other night and I immediately had a flashback to 1984, I was 19 years old and Bob Segar was one of the first concerts I ever went to. This song always was and will always be a classic !!!
Always had a thing for Bob Seger. He is so beautiful! I remember listening to him when I was a girl and wanting to run away with him. That voice. That smile. That hair. That presence... He is still the handsome drifter he was back in the better days! My type of guy. Here is to the ladies like me... Those who refuse to settle for anything less than men like this!
Rest in Peace Alto. Of the hundreds of artists I've seen perform live, when I first saw you and Bob perform this during "The Distance" tour, where you were lit by a blue spotlight and Bob, at the keyboard under a red spotlight, with the rest of the stage dark - it's one of the most enduring concert memories I have. Thank you for that image that I will always play over in my head. Rest in peace.
In the Fall of 1973, I had to quit the Eleventh grade at John Tyler High School, in Tyler, Texas. I had to save my kid sister, Vickie Lynn from the presence of our parents. I never regretted this mission I had in front of me. Vietnam coming to an end, but the war in the Mideast heading closer to home. Nevertheless, God works so many miracles now I can this, my sister was murdered in Tyler on Loop 323 and State Park Highway 14 on October 14th, 1973. Her last words were telling total strangers that she love me.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SONG!! To me, This isn’t just a fantastic song, I think it’s an Anthem from Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band to all of us! I hope Bob Seger realizes what an amazing, and awesome impact this song, and in fact, the majority of all of his songs, have had on our generation and every single generation forward. Bob Seger, you made such a positive impression on me and millions of other people throughout the world! I’ve been to several of your concerts and I was blown away by you! I actually saw you at one of them. My best friend and I were standing next to a wall on the main Concourse of what was previously called/known as “The Capital Center” in Maryland. You were standing next to the other wall about 15 feet away from us. I literally had to do a double take/look at you because the last time we saw you, you had long hair and this time your hair was short and beautiful! I was totally star struck by seeing you that I couldn’t move. I was literally frozen in this moment until my friend pinched me and asked me if I was alright. Thank you so much for sharing your many gifts and talents with us, all of the people of this beautiful world of God’s! Mr. Bob Seger, YOU mean more to people than you’ve ever thought possible. YOU MATTER! YOU have made a difference in the world! That’s NOT a coincidence either. Thank you for sharing your songs with me and us! May God Bless You and your family now and forever.
Saw him sing this in concert at what was then called The Meadowlands in New Jersey back in '84 when I was in the military. Me and one of my closest friends, who just a year later was killed in a plane crash, had gotten tickets as soon as they went on sale and scored seats right up front. We road my motorcycle to the concert and got in the right mindset (with help from some Northern California Sensamilia that I had scored) just before going in. We were so stoned that pretty much all I remember from the show was them playing this song. It was one of those epic nights from your youth that you will always remember till the day you die. R.I.P., my old friend.
Simple music can make you sing, a simple hug can make you feel, better, simple things can make you happy, I hope my simple hello will put a smile on your face.. Hello!!! How are you doing today, I just wanted to know if you're a fan too? Have a great day..
Just listen to this!!! No one can cover this. it wouldn't make sense today. It was a moment in time, never to be repeated. It is almost half a century now. Do you you think anything recorded today will be listened to in 2074????
Back when my sister’s ex was a hippy, he had long hair and an earring. He was in a little restaurant, sitting on a stool at the counter. A couple of big bikers came in and one of them started shooting off his mouth about the earring. He thought he was going to be humiliated and, worse, pounded. The guy strolled over to him, and said he liked earrings. He showed off his own. Talk about relief, lol. Thank you for sharing your songs, Bob, and I hope your back isn’t too bad. Gratefulness and a heck of a lot of appreciation.😊👐🇨🇦
Rest in Peace Alto Reed and Bob Segar! You are truly one of the best and it takes me back to my childhood and so many great memories! I am so grateful to you and your music! I introduce people to it today and they are so intriqued by it! This is what I grew up with! Bob ThankYou!Your music and writing has been a gift to the world!
Back in 1975 my brother came over to my house and I had "Turn the page" playing on the record player, he was in a band and they just came off the road, he heard this song for the first time and he listened to it with his eyes closed! He said this song was his life on the road. He past away in 1999. Every time I hear it I think of my brother, Jimmy.

Some memories never fade Anybody else still runnin against the wind Well you walk into a restaurant Strung out from the road And you feel the eyes upon you As you're shakin' off the cold You pretend it doesn't bother you But you just want to explode Most times you can't hear 'em talk Other times you can All the same old cliches "Is that a woman or a man?" And you always seem outnumbered You don't dare make a stand Special Thanks to Bob Segar and the band.

In the early 80s I used to commute between LA and Phoenix, where I saw Seger twice. I'd leave LA after the rush hour traffic had died down a bit. I'd stop at Quartzsite, AZ at a little country bar for a beer or two and to chat with the barkeep/owner until he closed. I'd head east, window rolled down, with Live Bullet on the stereo. This song always made me feel very introspective, and I can still feel the wind in my hair when I hear this song today.

I still listen to you like it’s the first time all over again. I love The Eagles. Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen and all kinds of music. But you sir, have and always will be my favorite. Your songs are the story of my life as well. Thank you. Joyce. West Haven Ct,U.S.A.🇺🇸 ARROW *🎱 eights and aces.

I remember Bob Segar in concert, driving away in limo...someone from the band stuck his head out , looked back and said "hi Bobbie"... So those of us outside knew it was THE Bobbie...Bob Segar in
SIMPLY ONE OF THE BEST

Born in early 90’s and my mom sang this to me as a lullaby when I was a baby! She never knew why she did, but now I just sang it to my 2 month old to go to sleep. Full circle what a beautiful song.
Only the Greatest Bands & singers sound better Live than they do in the Studio & this is a great Example.

Me either
Now this is a song with the words, the emotions, and real story of one of the greatest musicians. Thanks, Bob❤

That is one of the best sax starts of any song I've ever heard
I like how he calls it an old one in 1975. Here I am still singing along in 2023 heard it the first time done by a cover band at a JR high dance 1973
because its from the Album back in 72, which he refuses to re-release, unfortunately.
Hipe you’ve heard the Metallica cover. Also equally great!
RIP Alto Reed, from your friends and fans in Detroit.
He plays the Alto Sax and HIS NAME IS "ALTO REED"? HOW ICONIC IS THAT?
I love him as much now as I did 40 years ago. And he's still just as good if not better !!!!!!!
Your going senile

Ive had the pleasure of seeing Bob Seger 6 times. This song always started the build to the kick azz finale. I saw him many times in a 12,000 seat arena back in the day. Amazing memories.
even though alto is gone , we still get to hear him play his saxophone and bob seger sing a great song "turn the page"! thank you BOB ..
WE played this at my friend's funeral at his request. He was a carny. Gives me shivers!

This is no doubt the best song he sang. He's got a great voice, so strong, and he puts on a great show! He's fantastic.
One of the coolest and most liked bands ever.
One of the all time greats. You can be down and listen to bob and forget what the problem was
Where'd the time go Bob?? 73 now and we're both white heads😂still love ya, first concert you were bob seger system,!!! Sixconcerts like yesterday!! Rock on Bob... God bless you 🌟

I heard the words, "turn the page" the other night and I immediately had a flashback to 1984, I was 19 years old and Bob Segar was one of the first concerts I ever went to. This song always was and will always be a classic !!!
The Book of Life has but a few pages, but it's a tome to my heart, and soul. Thaks Bob, thanks Silver Bullets. Can't Touch This.

Bob's songs could make you cry , make you dance , make you happy or angry . The man's voice epitomized "Old Time Rock n Roll " ! Best ever !
Rest in peace.
saw/heard Alton in Denver years ago. Great sax man
72 this yr, still no one ever like Bob Seger, lastConcert I went to was American Storm in Vancouver Canada.
Hauled swinging meat from Omaha to New York city every week years ago looking little bit like bob Always played this song on the way out.
Love the Sax. Love his voice.

So sorry for your loss 😔🙏

Back when my sister’s ex was a hippy, he had long hair and an earring. He was in a little restaurant, sitting on a stool at the counter. A couple of big bikers came in and one of them started shooting off his mouth about the earring. He thought he was going to be humiliated and, worse, pounded. The guy strolled over to him, and said he liked earrings. He showed off his own. Talk about relief, lol.
Thank you for sharing your songs, Bob, and I hope your back isn’t too bad.

A modern poet! Every song tells a story! The best, maybe!

Saw him do this 4 times. Twice as a warm up act and twice as a headliner. To say he is amazing is selling him short.
Some memories never fade
Anybody else still runnin against the wind
Well you walk into a restaurant
Strung out from the road
And you feel the eyes upon you
As you're shakin' off the cold
You pretend it doesn't bother you
But you just want to explode
Most times you can't hear 'em talk
Other times you can
All the same old cliches
"Is that a woman or a man?"
And you always seem outnumbered
You don't dare make a stand
Special Thanks to Bob Segar and the band.
thank you for making this world just a little bit better

In the early 80s I used to commute between LA and Phoenix, where I saw Seger twice. I'd leave LA after the rush hour traffic had died down a bit. I'd stop at Quartzsite, AZ at a little country bar for a beer or two and to chat with the barkeep/owner until he closed. I'd head east, window rolled down, with Live Bullet on the stereo. This song always made me feel very introspective, and I can still feel the wind in my hair when I hear this song today.
I know that this is a rock of famer! Nobody has ever topped this one in my book.
