i'm a newbie knitter (i'm a long time crocheter) and you inspired me to make one for myself!! this is my first time following a knitting pattern and have learned so many new techniques but i'm so proud of myself for getting through it. i keep going back to watch this when i get frustrated with my knitting and it really helps me watching your process :) i'm so happy you showed up on my feed, i can't wait to see what other projects you have in store!
Also a new knitter that has been inspired to try to make this too but i have some Yarn Baby size 3(its either 3 or 5) that i want to do it in so i hope it goes just as well with the thicker yarn 🤔 😅
SUPER CUTE!!!!!! The end result looks expensive and very classy! ❤❤ I have just finished knitting a black chunky cardigan with baloon arms that I designed myself. I will post a video of me wearing it this weekend ❤❤
I'm knitting my first cardigan right now in a similar yarn to this, just in a periwinkle shade, so it's so nice to see an approximation on the process and look. I too looks so cozy, and I love the bow!
Thanks for the video…… I’m a newer knitter as well. Sometimes it’s frustrating to see others knit so fast and perfectly 😂 it’s nice to see others learning as well.
I totally get that. You are brave. There’s a UA-cam channel called Danish Musings…. You should watch her episode 13. It’s crazy what she is capable of knitting. Super inspiring.. But definitely when you walk away from her videos you feel insecure lol
So glad you came up on my feed. Love the colour. I am just on the button band of my cardigan - did mine with drops air which is a little thicker and was nice to knit with apart from one ball which was a little uneven and knotty xx
ah love that yarn and your cardigan looks so good 😍 Just knitting a soft lemon yellow card of my own while watching and you're right it's such a vibe knitting to YT ❤
You might find that on the short row shaping the wrap and turn method may work better for you, especially with your yarn choice (German short rows need pulling up really tight which is harder in fancy yarns). Also when doing a gauge swatch you need to wash swatch then block ideally to get a truer sense of gauge and material achieved. Well done on being brave and jumping in. A lovely knit.
@@natashacrawf I always worry that giving advice might come across in a negative way 🙃 when written. Glad it didn't offend. There are some great master handknitters with youtube channels that I would encourage you to check out like Suzanne Bryan, Heather Storta, Roxanne Richardson, Nerdy Knitting, Patty Lyons and I’ve just binge watched a great new channel called Knicoleknits Knows Knitting. There are so many great designers out there like Carole Feller who have amazing workshops that go along with her patterns over on Stolen Stiches. I hope that you find interesting and good advice that encourages you to grow in your knitting journey.
June 30 2024 Maryland USA: Loving your channel that I just discovered. The cardigan is so beautiful. So many ideas of doing for evening with two yarns and adding a classy button with rhinestones on a black yarn! The one ply is so perfect to add a bit of glamor even with jeans and a white tee. Thank you for all the mentions such as what to expect with the yarn and the wooden circular needle that left ladders. Bravo for the lovely cardigan.
Soo weird seeing this because I literally just finished a soft yellow round neck cardi about a fortnight ago!! Mine was self drafted and I used drops air :-) its proving to be very wearable atm!
I thought I could binge-watch your channel now, since I just found you yesterday evening. But I just realized that you're still in the beginnings🫢 Loved the video and the super cute cardigan!! Keep it up🥰✨️ Greetings from germany :)
So happy you popped up on my feed, you've inspired me, I want to make one of these cardigans now 😊 it's good know the pattern is beginner friendly. Did you find picking up the stitches quite straightforward? This is something I have found a bit challenging especially if the pattern doesn't tell you exactly how many to pick up. Thanks for a great vlog and I will look forward to more from you.
Hi! Saw your video in the summertime and you totally inspired me to knit this cardigan instantly!! i’m now almost finished and thinking of doing the same with the crochet bows instead of the buttons. How did you attach the crochet yarn to the project for them? i’m not that experienced at crocheting.. thank you so much for such an inspiring video💛
Aw that’s amazing omg!! Honestly I didn’t have much technique, I just shoved my crochet hook in between two stitches, made a slip stitch chain so it’s attached by a loop and then a row of single crochet that I kept going into a few of the knit stitches to secure. I hope that makes sense!🫶
thank you!! I don’t actually think i’m that fast of a knitter but i will happily knit for 5+ hours if I’ve got meetings in my work day or watching tv or travelling etc!
I don't like alpaca silk on its own... it gets huge after washing it... I think it's best held together with other yarn. I learned the hard way and the second time I used merino held together and I was realy happy
you definitely will be able to with a bit of perseverance! some beginner friendly knitting tutorials have links to UA-cam videos for all the techniques which I found so helpful when I was starting out 🥰💫
I love the colour of your cardi, it's so beautiful! I'll be flying to Portugal from Bristol in a few weeks and I really want to bring my knitting along but I'm not sure of the needle rules. How did you find getting your knitting through security? :)
thank you! I had absolutely no issues, i thought maybe i was pushing it with the tapestry needle but nothing even got beeped on any of my 4 times through security. one of my friends flies with knitting all the time and has never had a problem!
how do you get from the body to sleeves or make a shape or different pattern for the neckline/collar Like do you need to knit parts separately and then put them together? That was what I was always confused about and what stopped me from starting bc I used to knit some long random pieces like a shawl but couldn’t bring it further than that 😂 I wouldn’t know how to turn that into a sweater
I’m assuming you’ve never used a pattern or tutorial for your knitting? They have explanations for all this! I wouldn’t have been able to knit this without the pattern for sure 🫢 there are plenty of free knitting patterns for any sort of garment if you search on Google 💫
hiii i have a question, bc of u i got this pattern and yarn from the same brand! so for the sizing/amount of yarn, are u going by the 'held together' amount that are for the mohair and silks that are in the pattern? because you said that ur gonna knit the xs and u have 5 balls so thats like 125g and for the main yarn recommendation amount in the pattern none of those align w 125g, or 120g for xs. i just wanna make sure i got the right amount of yarn and this is my first time following a pattern so i'm not sure. 😭
oh amazing! so the alpaca silk is a bit different from the recommended yarns in the pattern because it’s very lightweight, so 125g is a very different meterage from the recommended yarns. 5 balls of the drops brushed alpaca silk is 700 metres, which is roughly the same meterage as the recommended yarns for my size - I think it’s about 150m less because I made mine cropped. honestly converting yarns is such a headache especially when trying to use grams and I find that thinking about it in metres is a lot easier! and because the “held together” amount is the same meterage as using just one yarn you can disregard that, i hope that all makes sense!!
I loved following you along! Also I now feel like I NEED a soft yellow cardigan too 🐥
yay i’m so glad you enjoyed ! 🫶🫶

@@natashacrawf so nice to hear that 😍😍😍
Did anyone know what is the needle size😢
yeah the pattern recommends 5mm!

Absolutely beautiful! How many stitches on the bottom. I usually start my knitting from bottom up.
How many stitches has the bottom?
