This just changed my life lol, thank you so much. I have been trying to emulate film in davinci for years and this saves me so much effort.
Been waiting for this! Thanks 🙏🏾
Love your tutorials! Gracias por tu tiempo.
you rule, this is such a generous resource. thank you!
Without a doubt the best video out on any media explaining the richness of real film and how to get digital to have it. Man i just discovered you, instant sub. Ive been looking for years how to get the richness. Keep the videos coming. I love your chanel.
Thanks so much, appreciate it!
Your effects are amazing!! I knew that you built something special, but putting them on my Morocco video clips fully completed them :))
Love this man - thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your time and explanation.
Absolutely great, thanks for sharing!
Thanks again for sharing your knowledge with us!!
You are awesome man. Keep up the great work. I've been messing around with subtractive color to get rich colors.
Aprecio mucho el tiempo que tomas para compartir este increíble material, seguiré atento a tus futuros videos... Saludos cordiales desde Lima Perú
so beautiful! thank you!
Amazing power grade man, thanks so much!
Q: Name a real-life hero without a cape.
A: RAKK Productions.
I’d cop the official Rakk Productions color checker 🤣. 🔥 as always bro!

You da real mvp. THANK YOU!!!
Bro, thank you sooooo much! You're awesome!
dude what, this is amazing
Fantastic work!
YOURE A GEM.
Thank you so much ! ❤💫
Fantastic! Thank you!
Found this on reddit and really enjoyed the power grade work flow. Can't really seem to figure it out as im working with Flog2 and Resolve does not have a proper CST for that, so the grade is def odd. But its been fun to play around with. Trying to make it work haha Thank you!!!
Great job bro! I'll try it out!
THANKS SO MUCH
found you through reddit, keep it up my boy
LOVEEE itttt ❤️❤️
This is the best video I have ever found on YT! Thanks, mate 🙂
When you transform the color space in node one, I have only options for Gen 4 (BMPCC 4K) but not Gen 5...
Resolve is updated to the newest version
Change it in RAW settings of the clip
A golden ticket
Amazing bro
this is amazing !
i love you man!
dude i love you
THANK YOU!
Great job
ALVY is really nice with the film emulation :)
Thanks for this👍
I think I'll be on this channel for a while :) Subscribed!
Thanks for your sharing
Thank you blogger for sharing. Thank you so much! from China😀
love you
Hello,
Thank you very much for the tutorial it's very useful !
I would like to know wich lens did you use at 00:39, how did you do to make it so smooth and to keepy everything in focus?
thanks!
Hey! Sorry for the late reply. I used an old Canon ENG lens to get the zoom. It uses a battery to power it and has a zoom function on it. It's a parfocal lens so everything stays in focus for the whole zoom range.
Sold man thanks for the tip and get my subbed!
What is the best way to fake the slight film jitter?
Amazing channel and you are very talented. Thanks
You are god 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️ thanks man, thanks a lot for share your knowledge
Thank you
Thank you so much for making this video. My question I have is can this power-grade be used for the free version of Davinci Resolve 17? Apologies if you mentioned it and I didn't catch it.
Thank you for the wonderful tutorial. I am really grateful for the power grade provided.
One question is, is Linny's best LUT?
Is the LUT provided by Juan sufficient?
You're welcome! The LUTs Juan made are very well done. I believed he did a bunch of colour matching and profiling when I he was making them. And they're free too!
This was super helpful and well put together! Is it possible to recreate a similar look using premiere pro?
Which LUT is used in the Powergrade with Sub and Emulation?

Thank you very much for sharing these powergrades, but would you say that the halation affects on the v3 powergrade is much more realistic then the v2? Since that's what I primarily used the v2 powergrades for.
You're welcome! I think v3 is a lot better than v2 and I've been using it lot's on tons of projects and personal work too.
thank you dude, is it possible to do a tutorial on how you do your intro title? its really cool
I don't know but lumix camera looks very cinematic than other mirror less camera out there that more digital feel
Love it dude, thanks a lot! How can i spread/soften the halation? The roll of on edges seems to be a bit hard on my footage
You can with the second halation node using the curve! If it still seems harsh, you can lower the output of it all together.
@@RAKKProductions thanks, that worked!
you're a god..
This is awesome one question where do you add film convert in v3?
Can you do a premiere pro tutorial please? Or how this concepts can be applied to premiere pro?
Not color related - but dang would love to see a video on that canon tv zoom lens, looks so sick!
That's definitely on the list!
@@RAKKProductions heck ya! stoked to see how you converted it to work.
Color Space Transform no longer has the options of "ARRI Alexa" or "ARRI Log C" on the studio 18 version ! Do you know of a workaround?
can you do a shot with sky and grass? does this method create noise in the image?
Can this work with sony s log 3 profile? the juan LUT that is for free? If not, are there any similar PFEs or LUTs for it?
How does the grain node method work?
Hi ... just subscribed ...u really explain well... I imported the powergrade files ... but when i apply it no change happens ... the nodes appear but nothing happens ... please help ... thanks
I’ve been trying this subtractive method for a bit, it’s good. I’ve been trying something different recently which is to get a CMY layer node tree by removing the rgb inputs from the original file and add the CMY together. It’s pretty effective. I find that if you produce a prior layer node tree that gives you an output with 100%sat in the rgb the you don’t need to put sat anywhere else. The saturation effectively comes from the density of the CMY. For contrast I’ve been trying something else rather odd. I found out that contrast was often produced in film by overlaying the colour negative with a bw negative. Essentially darkening image through luminance only. I’ve created a separate overlay after the fact near the end.
Interesting. Do you think it works better then traditional HSL HSV node? Would like to have a better explanation if you don’t mind!
i love you
hey bro, can you share your color correction video, so i can practice, i'm new use to davinci
How can I use this on Davinci Wide gamut timeline?
Thank you so much for the tutorial men ! I was wondering what kind of adapter did u use to fit this old canon zoom lens on your gh5?
A B4 lens mount from eBay!
Man this is way too helpful and i aprecciate it, but i cant make it work, not even doing it on my own node trees, particulary the red halation, i have fluorescent tubes and i cant make the red halation work it adds like a glow but i cant separate that glow with anything, if theres any way thar you could help me that would be awesome.
Ive been playing around with these all night and im loving it so far!
Quick Question though - Is the Sub Color technique supposed to be causing some colors to clip? I've noticed that while using the Sub Color trees it causes the colors in a lot of shots to clip out, especially the reds, giving them an extremely over-saturated look. I know the point of the sub-Color technique is to give a lot of colors a specific richness, but is the clipping out intentional? If not, should we just be raising to the HSL/HSV gain wheels to correct it?
Hey! Adjust it so it's not clipping or adjust it to taste.
Hey man! Can this work with sony s log 3 profile or sony profilrs in general? If not, are there any similar PFEs or LUTs for it?
You can use any camera with this! Just make sure to change all the CST options necessary.
Gr8
doooope
Do I need any plugins for this? Thank you!!
when I add the power grades my play back just becomes super choppy and laggy, I've tried changing the resolution and optimizing the media but nothing works. is there any way around this?
Remove the olpf node and you should be good!
im really new to resolve, how do I use the files from the drive?
Hi! would you do the HSL & HSV prior to the Linny lut? As in, log?
Hey! Don't do it at all if you're using Linny as they are very similar
I am getting a render error when trying to render clips with the SUB with FILM EMULATION power grade but not the sub. The halation nodes seems to be the issue also seems to be very strong, any tips? Thanks
I'm not really sure, unfortunately. I've had issues with Resolve giving me an error on one clip due to the clip corrupting in Resolve or even with an effect.
I've seen all the tutorials but it doesn't work anymore so I can't try it
When I click V3_1.1.1.and apply the grade it does nothing.
I'm a newbie, I've used it many times, but I still can't use this preset correctly
Why it's not working in davichi 17
Saskatoon! Coooooool :)
great video!! can you convert it to a lut cube file? thanks
Thanks! You can, but it won't have any of the grain or halation data in it.
I have no idea what I’m doing wrong but the power grade does nothing to my footage. I shot on BMPCC 6K Pro in the flat film profile and in color space transform put: input color blackmagic video gen 5 input gamma: blackmagic film and output same as you show in video (Alexa and ARRI LogC). I just end up with a log shot that has no grade on it…
You might need to add a LUT!
@@RAKKProductions Ah, that’s it. The film convert lut used in the powergrade is not on my computer
@@Clashing0N Use one of the free ones in Resolve or download some for free at Jaun Melara's site!
hi. can you address premiere users with tutorials for them too?
very gang.
Does this require the studio version of resolve?
Hey Rakk! This power grade is making play back on my computer. Very slow. I have a new MBP with M1 Max, 64 gb of Ram!
How is it running smooth for you? Can I ask a computer you are working on?
Hey! That's strange. I use a pretty beefy PC. Try deleting some nodes like the grain node. It may for whatever reason think FIlmConvert is still in the PowerGrade causing it to slow down. Resolve 18 has kind of been a pain to use and quite buggy. Hope this helps!
You have Halation 1 and 2. Do you turn both on or you just use one at a time?
Use both!
