I love it!! One tip for the glass inserts...because our boys play basketball outside...we bought strong plexiglass inserts to avoid breaking glass. Your uplift is gorgeous!!
***In the video I accidentally referred to the paint sprayer as the 3000 model. This is actually the 4000 model! Sorry for that, my friends. :) For more info about the Wagner Flexio 4000 HLVP Paint Sprayer, visit: bit.ly/2UiqOBQ
I think painted or not is up to each individual. I have heard so many people say they think brick should be left alone. I don't like it when someone says they want to paint wood furniture, or brick for that matter and people freak out. Its your stuff. Do what you want with it! I think grey paint would go great over that brick and go nicely with your black shutters. Your home is lovely. Thank you for sharing.
Your house look nice after you finish and I really did love that garage door how you pulled it up and let that scream down that was different I have never seen that before just saying
This FRESH updated look makes us 😀. Automatic outdoor lights are great idea! Watching you DIY is empowering. Loved that you worked diligently & NO rain! (I love ladder men who help 🤗)
Beautiful! I wouldn't do a solid color paint for the bricks. Maybe a lime or white wash but a very light application. Your bricks don't look like a deep red so a heavy application would make every thing look white. But a touch of white throughout the bricks would make the sidings color flow seamlessly with the brick.
Nice! The curb appeal increased dramatically. It is amazing what some paint and light fixtures will do to improve the look of a home. I look forward to the other projects. It is so motivating.
Definitely paint the brick. I put it off for years and it made such a difference. My neighborhood has older homes like yours and everyone is doing that and it just looks so fresh and not so dated. You won't regret it!
Nicely done. However, I'm not a fan of garage doors in white. The front door should be promiant. Garage doors look best when they "disappear". Usually by matching to the brick color.
Your home is lovely. I did notice the difference (at the 9:01 timestamp) between the brick that had been covered over by shutters and the brick exposed to the elements. Before you paint, consider power washing your masonry (you should anyway) and maybe the driveway to restore their freshness. Some people even broom a very thin slurry of Portland cement and water onto the driveway after cleaning it. Many people post videos how to do this to avoid problems and get beautiful results. Best wishes!
This turned out amazing! The garage doors look so much brighter. I had to google painted brick houses, because I couldn’t picture it, and they look so cute! I definitely vote for painting it!
OMG, Serena this project really speaks to me. First, because I pulled the shudders off the front of my house as well. However, they were so thin and flimsy I didn't even thing they were worth saving. I actually just throw them away! Secondly, I have been having the same garage color debate. I see some of the new house trim colors today and think I would like to paint our garage doors black as well, but I just can't decide. I haven't done any color refresh on them yet because I think we will actually need to replace them soon, so that is a decision. Lastly, my husband and I have been round and round about the idea of painting our brick home. I want to paint the bricks and he doesn't. We'll see who wins! 😃 I have spent a lot of time updating our landscaping in the 4 years we have owned this house, included building a large cedar framed water feature and trellis, which I absolutely love! But I think it's time to make some color decision! Thanks for the exterior refresh video! I needed the inspiration to get back on my exterior project list! Also my daughters general don't care about my projects either! 😂
You did good. Looks fresh and clean. Don’t paint the brick. The brick is nice and in good shape. I would change the siding as you mentioned. Great job!
I love painting! It's the prep I can't stand. I have a two story house to paint, siding and trim, and I'm not looking forward to all the preparation. You made this look so EASY, but I know that bondo alone takes forever to muck around with, then forever to cure, then you have to sand it. Now imagine that all over in tiny spots on every side of the house, gah. I'm dreading it. Thanks for the inspo, though! Fresh paint makes the world of difference.
Your front facade looks terrific! Very buttoned up. After googling painted and lime washed brick homes, I’m favoring the lime wash without knowing the difference in cost. Another thing to consider when deciding between keeping the bricks original or having them painted is whether or not you plan to add any structures with masonry to your future landscape project (I.e. decks, raised beds, etc). I’m sure whatever you decide will turn out splendid 🤗
Nice job as always. I am glad you take us through cleaning of the surfaces too. I think you should do what makes you happy - I personally like the “whitewashed” look of painted brick. But it seems like a lot of work, and your house looks great.
So I saw your vlog late nite, when it came out but was watching on my TV. But meant to say! Paint it. I live in a home similar age to yours. And they are a bit dated. So some homes in my N-hood have painted them and OH MY GOSH!!, they look incredible and so updated and fresh! I hope to do it to mine. Well someday in a later time. Can’t wait to see how it goes. This shutter transformation looks incredible. Looks so good Serena. 👌🏼😍🙌🏼
The framing around the garage windows would have looked nice as black. The after looks stunning. I never saw a screen door like that for the garage. Who installed it?
There is a UA-cam channel called Young Lady Business and she just painted her 1950's red brick ranch and the paint job was a major improvement for the house. She also did some work on the interior because it was seriously outdated. She demolished her kitchen and it is incredible. She has a fresh style with a love for neutral colors. She is one of the sweetest I've seen on UA-cam. You and your subscribers may enjoy her channel as well for inspiration.
Hey Serena! The updates to the outside of the house are amazing! I wouldn't paint the Bricks, I'd leave it as is. Now if it was a brick fireplace or brick wall on the inside of the house, I wouldn't have a problem with painting those. Stay safe, and tfs. Much love, Dorothy
Definitely paint the brick. I would have never thought of it until I started seeing modern brick homes. Now I'm trying to convince my Mom to paint her brick house.
I think your project turned out wonderfully. I like natural brick and I like painted brick. It would depend on what your siding on the upper level will look like and what color, if any, it would be. For now I would just wait and enjoy the freshly painted shutters and garage doirs.
I would recommend a white mortar in between your bricks almost like a German smear look to brighten up your brick we did this to our 70s tan brick home and it looks made the house look new and gave it a white look without the damage paint can do to brick. All we did was purchase a white tile mortar and painted it on to the mortar or grout lines of the brick. If any got on the brick we simply rub it in giving the brick a lime wash effect.
Really good job! Looks great. Love that you got the nod from your boys. I would love to see the brick painted the same color as the rest of your house.
I'm about to pay about £3500 ($2500?) to have all the paint removed from the brick of my new house. It was put on many years ago and traps moisture in the brick causing damp inside. Not sure if paint does this, but think carefully.
It looks great!!! I would love to see what you choose to do with the brick :) painting it would look amazing :) Your videos always make me want to get off my tush and get it done myself. I need to be more confident and not afraid to fix or paint things in my house. Thanks again for some more inspiration:)
Your home looks so good now. I put up the same lights! Paint the bricks is my suggestion. You did a great job! And I’m subscribing to your channel. Thanks for sharing your project with us.
It looks so good! Amazing curb appeal now. I don't know for sure, but I think not painting the brick will be less paint maintenance in the future. But it would look pretty painted. I will be interested in seeing what you do.
It looks beautiful! Maybe trim the bushes a bit. You could add some flower pots on either side of the doors. Add a wreath or something to the front of the doors. I would not paint the brick. It’s beautiful!
Fresh paint brings such joy, right!?! - I even painted/touched up the hardware on my garage door and it made a world of a difference! Your project looks fabulous. As for your brick - I would leave it. In my opinion, I love the brick - and I can't stand it when people paint over nice brick (It's the equivalent of putting shag carpet over real hardwood floors in to me...why cover up good quality?)
I love painted brick. You'll be able to choose any color siding that way. So you don't have to filter or thin the paint with the Wagner sprayer? Everything looks great!
Your house looks so good after all your hard work. I’m not a fan of painted brick, maybe because where I live in the south it seems the painted brick I’ve seen always seems to be peeling. But, not my house ,so you do you. I’m sure whatever you do it will end up looking great.
Our house is similar, I plan to lime wash the brick. Great job as usual! I need to paint my shutters and try that bondo at my mom's house. Thanks for the video!
I personally would not paint the brick, it's so clean and fresh as it is!
I agree!
I agree. I love natural brick plus it is maintenance free
Great job Serena. As for brick, I'll always take natural over painting anything. It's a beautiful brick.
I love it!! One tip for the glass inserts...because our boys play basketball outside...we bought strong plexiglass inserts to avoid breaking glass. Your uplift is gorgeous!!
Great idea!! I'm the one who broke the glass, actually. HA! But I like this idea of plexiglass!!!

Ohhhh Serena, to crean the house front is really such a task. Looks great Serena, you nail it again!
I think painted or not is up to each individual. I have heard so many people say they think brick should be left alone. Paint the brick!!! I’ve seen sooo many homes with painted brick. So modern
Your home looks terrific. Another inspiring project. I love painted brick!
Your house look nice after you finish and I really did love that garage door how you pulled it up and let that scream down that was different I have never seen that before just saying
Painted brick is nice I just saw a diy done with this white paint. Great job on this project as well
This FRESH updated look makes us 😀. Automatic outdoor lights are great idea! Watching you DIY is empowering. Loved that you worked diligently & NO rain! (I love ladder men who help 🤗)
Never afraid to try anything!! Respect for that. Curb appeal is much nicer now. Well done Serena. Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!
Beautiful! I wouldn't do a solid color paint for the bricks. Maybe a lime or white wash but a very light application. That’s beautiful. I think painted brick on homes is really pretty. Voting yes for painting the brick
Definitely paint the brick. I put it off for years and it made such a difference. My neighborhood has older homes like yours and everyone is doing that and it just looks so fresh and not so dated. You won't regret it!
Painted brick looks amazing!
I love painted brick houses! We need to paint our garage door too. Gave me confidence to do it instead of buying a new one.
Nicely done.
However, I'm not a fan of garage doors in white.
The front door should be promiant. Garage doors look best when they "disappear". Usually by matching to the brick color.
Nice job! Painting or lime washing the brick will bring it to a whole new level.

Yessss! A few holes in my neighborhood have been painted and I think it looks amazing!
Love how everything turn out and painting the brick is a go for me 👏👏👏
YAY, glad you see my point of view! Now to convince my family....
Beautiful. I would just paint the siding and update the front door. I love the brick. Great work. Looks beautiful.
It didn't take much to really freshen up the look of your house. It really looks lovely.
Thank you!! It's amazing what paint can achieve! I feel happy when I drive home and see how much cleaner it looks now! :) Thank you, Andrea!

That is a definite improvement. Nice job.
Looks beautiful! The new lights brighten things up...
Definitely paint the brick..I painted my brick and love it..others in the neighborhood followed..
Wow! What an improvement. Thumbs up on painting the brick.
You did good. Looks fresh and clean. Don’t paint the brick. The brick is nice and in good shape. I would change the siding as you mentioned. Great job!
The finished product looks great! You're a rockstar.👍🏿
Definitely paint the brick👍🏾. My fireplace had the same color brick, we painted them white....looks modern and clean. Nice job on the exterior.

Fab job, Serena! Well done! I love it too.
Yes, yes, yes, paint the brick!!! Paint the siding too if you are able to. Not sure if that can be done but if it can you totally should!!!
Your front facade looks terrific! Very buttoned up. After googling painted and lime washed brick homes, I’m favoring the lime wash without knowing the difference in cost. Too much upkeep when you paint bricks.
👏🏾 That’s a fantastic makeover Serena! Definitely adds more appeal! 😁

paint the bricks, love all your projects
Love the outcome. Did you paint your front door and please tell me about that screen ?
I've seen brick painted white and it looks gorgeous, so I would say give it a go. You did a brilliant job, well done.
I'm a professional painter. Videos like this will keep me working for years.
Brilliant
I LOVE painted brick!!!
Great job! You’re making me really want a sprayer!!
The framing around the garage windows would have looked nice as black. The after looks stunning. I never saw a screen door like that for the garage.
Who installed it?
yes, paint the brick!!! great job, keep on diy'ing ?!? love your content

Yes a lime wash on the brick would look amazing.
Love it! YES! Paint the brick! It'll really finish it off! 😁❤
Turned out great.looks new and fresh.
It all looks so beautiful.
I’ve seen some painted brick and it is really nice. I think the key is coordinating the look.
Turned out fabulous. Great job
I absolutely think you should paint the brick. It was the first thing I thought of when you changed the lights. Something in the grey or white family.
Hey Serena! The updates to the outside of the house are amazing! I wouldn't paint the Bricks, I'd leave it as is. Now if it was a brick fireplace or brick wall on the inside of the house, I wouldn't have a problem with painting those. Stay safe, and tfs. Much love, Dorothy

Looks very fresh & clean!! 👍🏾
I love how this turned out! Great job!!!
Great work on the makeover, but I love your front door too!
Definitely paint or lime wash the brick.
Agreed
Yes agreed :)
Agree, that will completely update your home
I'm about to pay about £3500 ($2500?) to have all the paint removed from the brick of my new house. It was put on many years ago and traps moisture in the brick causing damp inside. Not sure if paint does this, but think carefully.
sorry, ALL paint? this is masonry paint and it also looks awful!
So beautiful- clean lines ! You make me feel like I could actually try and tackle something on my house! Love how calm you are ❤️
I love this. My home has similar color brick with white siding. I've been thinking about what color I want for the shutters. These are gorgeous 😍
👍🏽 Awesome job! I’ve seen a tuber, Young Lady Business, that lime wash 70ish brick home and it was lovely! So I 👍🏽’s up the ideal!
No don't paint brick awesome job painting garage and shutters. I wanted to do ours and you are truly inspiring me to do it.
You can do it!!
i used to have one of these and im a wagner fan i have found the airless is better in finish and saves paint way less overspary
Your home exterior looks so much better after those changes! Nice work with the FLEXiO 4000 paint sprayer!
Thank you! I absolutely love it! Thanks for the Collab!
It looks great!!! I would love to see what you choose to do with the brick :) painting it would look amazing :)

My vote paint the brick 👍 looks great so far!!
You did a lovely job. You're projects inspire me so much. Thank you ♡
It looks so good! Amazing curb appeal now. I don't know for sure, but I think not painting the brick will be less paint maintenance in the future. But it would look pretty painted. I will be interested in seeing what you do.
I added shutters to my small house before selling. I thrifted them, and repainted. They changed a dull box into a cottage in one afternoon.
Looks real nice.
It looks great well done
This is soooooo good!
I love smeared bricks, watered down paint goes on and some is wiped off so it looks weathered.
It looks beautiful! Maybe trim the bushes a bit. You could add some flower pots on either side of the doors. Add a wreath or something to the front of the doors. I would not paint the brick. It’s beautiful!
I want to know more about the screen door at the end of the video.
Fresh paint brings such joy, right!?! - I even painted/touched up the hardware on my garage door and it made a world of a difference! Your project looks fabulous. Shocking about the mixed matched shutters..Wow really? Yes paint the brick and definitely new foundation plantings.
Looks really good!
Thank you!!
Looks beautiful 😍
Looks great, good work.
It looks great!
I love painted brick. You'll be able to choose any color siding that way. So you don't have to filter or thin the paint with the Wagner sprayer? Everything looks great!

Looks great and I like painted brick!
Oh! That is the paint sprayer I’ve had in my homedepot shopping cart online for a month now. Glad I watched this video!
Looks amazing!! 👏👏👏
Thanks for sharing your awesome work. I don't think you need to paint the bricks but I'm sure whatever you decide, it's going to look great.
I have that same sprayer it works pretty good. It did make my hand and arm hurts after a while // I personally like painted brick
Looks great!! Thanks for all guidance! I love painted brick, go for it :)!
There's a light grey painted brick house on my street and it looks fabulous! You should do it 😃
Yes, the paint would be beautiful.
