I'm chuckling to myself, as I caught myself grinning away with joy to see that young man drive that Hitachi down the road. He IS going to be another well trained and good operator when he get's to be a bit older. Well done Chris!
Thats awesome! I started at 9 years old. First machine I ever ran was a 942 liebherr. I dug a small hole and my grandad backfilled it. I will never ever forget that as long as I live. That young man will remember his dad and most likely Chris as well, for helping him practice his skills.
Gabe was tracking it like a boss! That’s awesome and made his day I’m sure. Good to see young kids interested in heavy equipment. Nice job clearing too! 👍🏻
Thanks for the explanation on why it is not advisable to leave random trees that had been growing in the woods when you clear land. I was not aware of that problem.
The young man operating the giant machine wow love that could you imagine the excitement in his heart wow I'm extremely proud of that young man and you for letting and teaching him good man thumbs up my friends just that makes this your number one video
Got my 4 year old on my Vermeer mini skid. He has to stand on a 5 gallon bucket but he can already move logs with the log grapple. I love to see kids starting young. I started on grandpa's backhoe when I was probably 5. Good times
One of my clients had his son setting on a IHI mini @7 running it. His feet didn’t reach the floor but he was handling the joys with no issues. I remember his eyes being wide open like Reggie Singletary from the Chicago Bears.
I got a picture of myself at around 10yrs old sitting in an excavator when we built our house. The contractor let me play with it a little. Drove up a driveway just like that, and dug a couple holes. Been hooked ever since. 👍👍
Its all about seat time and a sharp young eager mind is easy to teach. You and the boys dad are setting him up with a life of success and honest work. He'll never be out of a job with skills on a machine. The world is your oyster when you've proven you have what it takes to run a machine.
Most 7 year olds that I know are lucky to be playing with a Tonka truck in a sand pile. This little guy gets to run the "Big Boy" toys and he's loving it. Chris you do know he works pretty cheap keep training him.
It was always so exciting for me when my dad brought home the crane and bulldozer after a job was done. I don't think he ever let me drive it- but I remember sitting in the seat pretending. lol! He even took my sister and I to work with him once! We were probably around 10, and we mostly played- but he did give us a ride in the bulldozer, and he drove it down the ditch embankment backwards!! Scared the crap out of me but at the same time I knew he wouldn't do anything that would hurt us. I can remember it like it was yesterday.
Your 100% right Chris trees that don't see wind (we don't need no roots) Love the little guy!!! You say you started then, pop out the archives videos and let us see some of them when you were a little guy, HA! HA! HA!
Chris is the king of the side off load.......Still can't believe owner will let you do that. That kid tripped me out. Chris asked "think you can handle that?" Kid says with authority "I got this!" Trees don't stand much of a chance with that Tachi. It don't cull many..........
ahh to be a kid again I think all kids should learn like this, around his age I was running an old 55 michigan to load at the pit. Teaches respncibility....
I laughed when you were on this site before, and I said to myself, Chris will be back to this place soon when the homeowner decides that he needs additional work done. Money in your pocket!
Surprise, surprise... when he got into the cab I thought, wow, you're going to give the kid a thrill riding with you. But, hey, he took off by himself which made me shut up... good video.
I’ll be darn, good job kid... 3:35.. A guy in Utah let me walk his D6 Dozer when I was 11 This was in 61 so “Old D6 with the pony motor and cable operated blade.
I also learned young, road in equipment ever since I was a 1 year old and then when I turned 5 my grandfather sat me in his cat skid steer with a cinder block on the seat behind me because it had a weight sensor and then he let me run it by myself.
Of all the stuff on UA-cam I never thought I would see a seven year old driving a multi-ton excavator down a road... Hasn't the kid heard of Tonka Toys? Do they still make them any more? When I was his age I played trucks and cars in the dirt. He obviously knows the machines. Very impressive.
Man what I would give to have a machine like that for a day out on my property. I have a small backhoe on a subcompact tractor that does the same thing to trees around 3 or 4 inches in diameter. I would love to take down some of the bigger ones like that rather than with my current method of using a chainsaw and a stump grinder.
Enjoy the videos a lot and have a killer case of excavator envy. Amazing how the newer machines you operate are more efficient than the older Hitachi: don't really care though as I just want an excavator. Wife keeps telling me I don't need one though: I keep saying what does "need" really have to do with it :) Got a backhoe, dozer, crawler loader, loader landscaper,a dozen tractors. But no excavator.....
In a few months, parents are going to be reading their kids' Christmas wish lists and asking, "Why on God's Green Earth does my kid want an excavator!❓.
The trackmotors are some expensive machanik, so as most as possible you whant to work over the idlers whitch "only" are som big steel wheels and some beerings. They can handle mutch heavyer forces than the track motors can.
If Chris is using the Hitachi it is his side job. On Saturday and Sunday. If he is in a Volvo it is his weekly job. He has been doing this for at least the last couple years I have been following him.
Chris said it would cost 10k to have one installed! Its probably not set up for one already. I bet he upgrades to another excavator before he add a hydraulic thumb to this on...
So, all the volvo machines are on other jobs? if the hitachi supposed to augment and allow chris more jobs or is he not running all the volvo stuff full time.
That fixed thumb bothers the heck outta me. So much more productive with a hydraulic thumb - like missing an arm. And when you plumb it for a thumb, then you can add all sorts of money-making attachments (drills/plate compactor/breaker etc etc).
I'm chuckling to myself, as I caught myself grinning away with joy to see that young man drive that Hitachi down the road. He IS going to be another well trained and good operator when he get's to be a bit older.
Well done Chris!
Looking at that lad it takes me back 65years when on a farm I learned to drive tractors at 7 years old, never forgotten.
Best dad ever teaching his kid early. Awesome.
Good for you allowing that young man to show off his skills.
The beginning of this video put a huge smile of my face! He'll be a master operator once his legs are long enough!
Hey cris I got a new backhoe today👍 it's a wood stick with a metal plate on the end. What I didn't know is it came with blisters 😩 I'm tired.
ah the Armstrong EW .005 a classic design but the user interface leaves a lot to be desired
@Dig Byck powered by Barley(tm) taint cheap either, though it numbs the pain after a few pints
Ahh, the ole Chinese backhoe. I remember being young and getting excited about using one
@@KJ-kw7gh it sucks I'm 50 and still use one...I should have stayed in school!
Thanks for the explanation on why it is not advisable to leave random trees that had been growing in the woods when you clear land. I was not aware of that problem.
Big 🍊 = Big 💰 get after it Chris!
That's awesome letting the kiddo track Big 🍊
True
That was awesome to watch him driving that machine. Loved his big smile. Very impressed. 👍🏻
Chris you have such a big heart making that kids day. God bless
The young man operating the giant machine wow love that could you imagine the excitement in his heart wow I'm extremely proud of that young man and you for letting and teaching him good man thumbs up my friends just that makes this your number one video
Big smile on my face .Well done young man . He even set the brake.
That 7 year old handles an excavator better than some operators I’ve seen 😄
Mrs. Elite Earthworks 😂😂
Brandon will get better eventually
B S 🤣 I doubt it
@@DC-1 he's pretty good
What's your husbands name so I can poke fun at him too?
Reminds me of when grandpa let us kids drive the D8K in the woods when he was logging/building roads in the Siskiyou mountains west of Merlin Oregon.
I started on equipment at about 7 as well. I like seeing other kids doing the same. It's good for them.👍🏻👍🏻
Props to you letting for little mans run the hitachi, you know damn well that made his week!
I got a picture of myself at around 10yrs old sitting in an excavator when we built our house. The contractor let me play with it a little. Drove up a driveway just like that, and dug a couple holes. Been hooked ever since. 👍👍
Wasn’t the Hitachi originally for use around the homestead? Glad it’s making money for ya.
Scott S. Chris stated in the video when he got it he had some side jobs to do as well
State the facts
Gabe is da Man ! That was cool watching Gabe walk your machine down the driveway, very nice of you.
Thumbs up !!!
Chris the things you do with these machines blow my mind very awesome .I really enjoy watching your videos .
You made his day Chris ....hope he gets a free T shirt now 👍🏻👍🏻
That's cool you let the little man drive
Very impressed with the little guy's ability to move the machine. I would have liked to have seen him dig some!
Its all about seat time and a sharp young eager mind is easy to teach. You and the boys dad are setting him up with a life of success and honest work. He'll never be out of a job with skills on a machine. The world is your oyster when you've proven you have what it takes to run a machine.

This is soooo cool. I didn't drive the family car until 12. My first vehicle was a small fork truck!! It's fun to be 7 my friend!!
I bet you could pull a tick off a fat leg with your excavator skills, Chris. 😁 Pleasure to watch you , my young friend.
That's awesome Chris ! You made his day
Dang! The little guy drives that thing better than many (adult) drivers I encounter on the road with their Toyotas and Hondas.
Your 100% right Chris trees that don't see wind (we don't need no roots) Love the little guy!!! You say you started then, pop out the archives videos and let us see some of them when you were a little guy, HA! HA! HA!
you made that kids month right now, how awesome is that :) thanks for doing that!
That little man will watch this video over and over !!
When school started, I hated those assignments, “What I did during the summer?” Now, I could have written about this!
Chris you are the expert in this kind of projects 👍😎👌 seven year old boy, going to be a good operator.....
If you keep working with that boy like that & he'd make you a good helper some day
Stopped at 4:00 in and realized your the best dad around. Thumbs up
Little Buddy liked driving your Machine !!! lolol... Good one Chris.... Have a Good Evening !!
Hick yeah brother I’m glad you are getting some jobs with your new machine!!😀
Chris is the king of the side off load.......Still can't believe owner will let you do that. That kid tripped me out. Chris asked "think you can handle that?" Kid says with authority "I got this!" Trees don't stand much of a chance with that Tachi. It don't cull many..........

Well Chris old girl showing you she can do as much as Christine nice job today my friend 😎👍👍
Repeat customers is always good !! Especially when he moves tonka toys around !! Lol
Made for a great video bro, that young fella sure knows his way around the digger. Be a really good operator by the time he is a teen, look out Tim.
I started running equipment at 5 years old setting on my dad lap I remember it like it was yesterday it a d9 cat dozer on a coal mine he worked at
Good man Gabe, love seeing the Hitachi
I don't know what to write. Everyone else has said it already. Awesome ! Chris.
That is the way to start out a young person. Teach them early in life if they have the desire to learn.
Good job little man got a another letsdig in the making.
That’s how you train them and it’s good to let them learn young glad you don’t mind letting him drive
I laughed when you were on this site before, and I said to myself, Chris will be back to this place soon when the homeowner decides that he needs additional work done. Money in your pocket!
Yes , that's how it has to be , teach them young , teach them respect of machinary , lasts a lifetime , Good Job !
Chris I think little Gabe is gonna be your summer vacation apprentice....soon he can fill in behind Tim now and then 👷🏻♂️
Very cool kid,I believe in teaching the early
Start them off early!! They will respect the craft later in life!!
ABOUT random trees hows the tree you move to the farm doing ?
Kids at the age of seven or more than capable of learning how to operate equipment. I was raised on the farm we start off that age.👍☕️🍩
Surprise, surprise... when he got into the cab I thought, wow, you're going to give the kid a thrill riding with you. But, hey, he took off by himself which made me shut up... good video.
Looks like good dirt to work with.👍 🇺🇸
That’s one lucky kid!!!!!!
Haven't seen Tim in awhile, hope he still working for you
I’ll be darn, good job kid... 3:35..
A guy in Utah let me walk his D6 Dozer when I was 11
This was in 61 so “Old D6 with the pony motor and cable operated blade.
Last time I knock the chain off my saw, I had to replace the bar. It tore the heck out of the chain too!
good job with the boy.. my grandpa let us run his D8K up in the woods and run the farm equipment on the ranch at his age
I also learned young, road in equipment ever since I was a 1 year old and then when I turned 5 my grandfather sat me in his cat skid steer with a cinder block on the seat behind me because it had a weight sensor and then he let me run it by myself.
Thanks for the video.
Which one you like better the valvo or that one ?
Teaching my nephew to run an Excavator as well at 10 years old. He loads my dump truck with gravel or select fill.
Start him young and have yourself a future employee of letsdig18
Fair play.. I started at 6 😂 start them Young only way they'll learn great job on the clearing..... 👍
Thank you.

You started at 7 years old your 47 or feel like it lol. That kid won’t have calluses on his fingers from video games it will be from work.
Absolutely
In a few months, parents are going to be reading their kids' Christmas wish lists and asking, "Why on God's Green Earth does my kid want an excavator!❓.
Well that got my day started right!
Putting that Hitachi's ass to work! 👍
That is the fastest way to reck a trailer. It voids the worenty on both the trailer unloading and loading that way
Looks like you are going to be there a while . If you need any help let me know
The young fella has some skills for 7yrs old watch out Chris give him 20yrs new employee.
Love the video Chris and have great day .
Did you get the air fixed on the orange beast?
Is it better to leave the track motors in the rear of the machine while excavating?
Yes if possible.
The trackmotors are some expensive machanik, so as most as possible you whant to work over the idlers whitch "only" are som big steel wheels and some beerings. They can handle mutch heavyer forces than the track motors can.
Good video Chris enjoyed watching
I would say let the kid dig some dirt I vote YES :)

All these paying jobs, you'll soon be swapping the manual thumb for a hydraulic one Chris 👍
Chris said it would cost 10k to have one installed! Its probably not set up for one already. I bet he upgrades to another excavator before he add a hydraulic thumb to this on...
What did you do while you were out of school this summer? Not much. I just unloaded huge machinery for my dad and his customers. Not much! ;-)
other kids: Whats that?? We have been playing video games all summer!
So, all the volvo machines are on other jobs? if the hitachi supposed to augment and allow chris more jobs or is he not running all the volvo stuff full time.
Awsome job 👍
Looks like you got a lot of work to do
Ok that’s Justin boy. CM in Louisiana
Oh yeah? Well...well....when I was 6, I held the rope on the boat when my daddy launched it into the river! :D
That fixed thumb bothers the heck outta me. So much more productive with a hydraulic thumb - like missing an arm. And when you plumb it for a thumb, then you can add all sorts of money-making attachments (drills/plate compactor/breaker etc etc).
Kinda funny seeing ya run over limbs and drive through brush that you would take the time to move in the Volvo. :D
Teacher: Gabe, what did you do this summer?
Gabe: I moved heavy equipment, like this excavator (*shows video*) [and also dug some holes]!
Do you do these jobs in your of time or do take time out of your to these?
