A bit late to the party but so glad I found this channel, especially for all the great Smiths videos. Too bad its gone silent but great body of work here already, so thank you for that!
to see the great talent you have I imagined that your channel had millions of subscribers, but no, which surprises me since you have enough talent which you know how to use, greetings.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. Needless to say you nailed it, that was perfect. It would be better IMO if you showed the chords instead of tabs, though.
Man i love this version, cause i think it has such great melody, specialy the middle and the outro, but in the record it sound sooooo frikin low!!, but anyway thanks for sharing man, nice work
I know, good ear. I usually do tune my guitar up to an F# but I use these guitars alot for my videos. The constant tuning up and down throws my intonation off so for some songs it's just easier to capo. If you check out my "Barbarism Begins At Home Video" I have my jag tuned up to F#. It definitely gives the songs more of a 'twangy' sound. Thank you for your comment, I appreciate the support!
@@GuitarAddictRL yess, to the "F# ... definitely gives it more of a twangy sound." part. i agree. as much as hardcore/metal is all about downtuning, to Eb & lower, so the strings sound heavily thicker & deeper when you bang down on their loose nature, i feel like johnny marr was all about the opposite of that.. j.m. even said himself once, "i was basically just trying to do the opposite thing as punk.." in a post-ramones/sex pistols time. like, if they played an A5 as "5.-7.(x.x.x.x.)," he would play a full 577655 barr & arpegiate it clean.. i thought it was interesting 'bigmouth strikes again' was in G#, taking it up 4 notes higher instead of 2, also.. i think the whole guitar was tuned to that also, in the same vain. i think it /was/ for the sake of the string tension. considering he still played the same way, with the same kind of C shapes & all, compared to bands like linkin park that would tune down to C#, but then play in a totally different key, like D#(m). (when, obv., they could've tuned to D#, & play a 022000 open minor chord, in predictable fashion.) i heard johnny marr would use some "nashville tuning" in his recordings too.. a.k.a. buying a set of 12-string strings, realizing you don't have a 12-string, putting them on a 2nd guitar in a 2nd layer, tuned an octave higher, to make one giant octave chord of everything! one of his more interesting ideas, i think. (i knew it had to be more than "buy a rickenbacker. u will twang." considering converge & city of caterpillar had ricks, & they didn't sound like that at all lol. still such a nice guitar. but johnny doesn't even play them anymore. & his "signature guitar" is a white fender jag. so wrong lol.)
do you have the tab sheet for how to play the outro with the capo on the 2nd? because it looks like you’re playing it differently than the tab on top of the screen. also this sounds really great!!!!!
Well I wonderDo you hear me when you sleep? I hoarsely cry Well I wonder Do you see me when we pass? I half-die Please keep me in mind please keep me in mind Gasping but somehow still alive This is the fierce last stand of all I am Gasping, dying but somehow still alive This is the final stand of all I am Please keep me in mind
wow, this was amazing.. i think it's kinda funny people think of johnny marr as this cRaZii talented guitarist, just cuz there's a capo.. when, from this, to girl afraid, it's all like the same Am, C, Dm, F, Em, G progressions haha.. i'm glad you picked up on some of his weirder chords he had as a trick up his sleeve though.. i particularly liked the way he played his D's...
That's the whole thing about Marr that amazes and annoys me at the same time - you watch him play a riff, and in 15 min you can play it, but no way on Earth would you ever come up with something like that... Stuff like Barbarism, etc... I mean come on!
Hey as a new guy i am still trying to figure all this stuff out. I know chords but am still figuring out tab. And the capo thing. Not sure what you mean by Tuning: Full Step Up ~ F#-B-E-A-C#-F# OR Capo 2nd fret. It is hard to see the chords you are playing but man you sound wicked.
I struggled with it too but a good mimic alternative is x-0-5-5--0-0, you get the A bass with the open A string and most of the other notes in the chord are there
Fucking great 👏
Why thank you 🤓
Their finest moment and a truly class rendition love the way you 'come in' at 1:39 jangletastic! , go! Johnny go!
Hard to believe that song came out in 85 yet it feels it was ahead of its time.
when i hear johnny marr's guitar: god i love him
when i try to learn the songs: damm i hate you johnny
Y si eh, banda jajajaja
everytime 😂
In this case I hate Johnny, too 😂
Thank you so much for posting the very thorough and accessible Johnny Marr tutorials. There are definitely not enough of them on YT.
Yes, I agree. Some of the ones I have heard do exactly sound right. I appreciate the support!
I miss your covers.
Know that you are remembered fondly.
God bless and keep you.
A bit late to the party but so glad I found this channel, especially for all the great Smiths videos. Too bad its gone silent but great body of work here already, so thank you for that!
Me too - even later. This is the best guitar lesson for the saddest song ever. Glad I found it.
Oh my word, this looks so much easier than the way I previously tried to learn it. There is hope.
God bless you Sir, your lessons are wonderful.
Thank you kindly. More Smiths songs to come. I'm glad you are enjoying them.
great but pointless put up the chords instead of impossible to read tabs
Good work mate! Best Smiths song ever!
Thank you! One of my favourites for sure!
Their finest moment 3:33 to 4:38 is a fantastic rendition of probably the finest guitar outro in modern music ever brilliant!
After nearly 40 years youve cracked it! Thank you for unlocking the mystery of Marr!
This is the best thing I watched on youtube
This made my day, thank you ✌🏻
Couldn’t agree more! By far the best tutorial video I’ve seen, and a real gem of a song, one of my favourite Marr riffs. Thank you.

I appreciate your kind words. Maybe one day I’ll reach 1 million!

I would pay for tabbed videos of other Smith songs like this too!!!
Just to let you the song is f# tuning if you dont wanna play without a capo alot of their songs are in that tuning. Anyways great job

This is a 12 string acoustic, by the way
I can’t play that first chord for the life of me
