Journeyman genre master John Guillermin (Tarzan's Greatest Adventure) steps in to direct the Shaft franchise's next entry with a big budget boost out of the exploitation zone and into Bond-style action-adventure. Subject to a most unorthodox recruitment, John Shaft (Richard Roundtree) is shanghaied from the Big Apple for a voyage to Mother Africa in order to tackle the evil of the returning slave trade. With an undercover assist in Ethiopia by the lovely Aleme (Vonetta McGee), Shaft goes native just in time to get captured by the slavers. Too bad for them! Shaft in Africa arrives ready for action-adventure reassessment thanks to this eye-popping, pristine 1080p HD presentation that serves up Shaft's intercontinental sensation as never before. 16x9 Letterbox.
Directed By John Guillermin
Starring Richard Roundtree, Frank Finlay, Vonetta McGee

We’ll see u in heaven our good legend legends never die
I have been fortunate enough to watch all the Shaft series as youth.
Brother John Shaft is the man.
RIP Brother Gordon Parks, Brother Levi Stubbs, Brother Larry Payton and Brother Obie Benson
TCM does a decent job of running '70's era blaxploitation films. You can catch this an many others late night weekends.
70s absolutely a golden age for music
100% the BEST for everything
Yes all I listen to. Best recording. 60's was simple music with poor recordings and 80's was getting simple with a lot of digital sounds in music.
I agree with you .
After seeing this in the Theater, I went right to the Record Store and bought the Album
You can't even walk in the park.
Perfect name for the piece of music from this scene.
I watched this sequence on VHS a million times because of the fantastic music. The title song 'Are You Man Enough', performed by the Four Tops was written by Dennis Lambert and Brian Potter who also wrote and produced the Four Tops' great 1972 album 'Keeper Of The Castle'. They gave a very modern funky sound to the Motown legends.
Kai, this tune is on the Main Street People album. Keeper of the Castle is also marvelous, especially if you can listen to it in quadraphonic sound. I really like the first two Shaft films, but for me this one takes a dive after he leaves the park. The theme song is the highlight of the film.
July 9th: Happy birthday former Ebony Fashion Fair model / Actor Richard Roundtree/"Shaft"...thank you and God bless....thank you, Warner Archive for the upload of this video. Blessings.....
RIP Richard Roundtree 1942-2023
I am 60 .
I saw a few of the premiere episodes as a youth in Indiana , although I do not reme.ber them . I do remember brief segments . I watched them on a small television in my bedroom , we were upper middle-class white folks . My father joined in local civil rights activity in the 1970s .
RIP , MR. RICHARD ROUNDTREE , you are an American hero , greatly revered by many surviving Americans of my age group .
This soundtrack .rest easy mr. Richard roundtree
Shaft was great, low budget, with great one liner.
The soundtrack is out of this world.
Great movie and song.
IMO the best film of the Shaft series. And yes, it had great music also.
I agree 💯💯💯!!!
They were all great flicks, but NOTHING beats the original... NOTHING!
@@siddiqahmad5193 I like the original. It's too bad more Shaft films were not made.
@@siddiqahmad5193 2019 I think did just that.
I beg to differ. 2019 was the best.
Interesting tie-in that the first Shaft movies' entire soundtrack was released in Quadraphonic sound, and the title track here "Are You Man Enough" was also released in Quad on the Four Tops' album "Main Street People". Although there next album "Meeting of the Minds" was also released in Quad, it had a song I wished had been used in a Shaft movie, titled "One Chain don't make no prison".
Richard Roundtree RIP 1942-2023 🙏🏾
This one is my favorite
ALFA ROMEO QUADRIFOGLIO...❤💖❤
I have the theme to this movie love it classic
I would like to know where the hell is that limo driver going. He went from Manhattan, Queens, Nassau county then back to NYC.
😂😂😂
WHY AINT NOBODY TALKING BOUT HOW HE BLOCKED A BULLET WITH A BRANCH
Lol true
Excellent question, Tamya. Just how DID the big guy avoid the bullets from Shaft''s 38 revolver?
😂😂😂
Great actor
Hated the plot, loved the movie, rip Richard, best of the best soundtracks!!! THAT'S all folks, ❤❤❤
Love how they stole his Alfa’s hubcaps and now the wheels look better
Anihay Musa hadarmo
Shaft was the Black James Bond but Badder!!
I loved Shaft, just hoped he would have stayed in New York.
Cat named Shaft ain't going be bad with a stick, dashiki or no Bedouin attire.
Can you say leather, subway and 125th street?
what's the black car? Lincoln, Cadillac? it is so magnificent, massive.
Caddy
2:48 - literally wtf? What happened? Did he miss? And then just like, see a gun pointed at him and he gives up and dies? 🤔
He shot blanks and when he got shot it was a tranquilizer dart that put him to sleep.
What I like about this film is how realistic it is about the black man’s plight. Opens with 3 white kids (prolly KKK) stealing his hubcaps, and of course it’s only gotten worse in the years since!
I should watch this full movie, but can someone explain why the guy is bulletproof?
Blank cartridges.
