Those old gingerbread/ICS era phones only had 8GB total internal storage. I believe almost half of my EVO's Int was used before setup (3.89) or something like that.

New SoCs don't just mean better performance and speed. They help with lots of things including better battery consumption, support for new camera features and better image processing...
Agreed. The only processor that means anything to me is the one in my dedicated Graphics computer that only runs LR and PS. That's where I have to tackle editing photos that are 3gigs in size (Pano's and stacking). That's where your processor shines.
Well, the Snapdragon 888 can run 1440p at 120hz, while even the 865 wouldn't be able to so well. A processor upgrade made many more things possible/smoother while also consuming less power most of the time
I would be willing to put up with many of those compromises, but the loss of MST from Samsung Pay is a deal breaker for me. Being able to use my phone to pay for things at places with older card readers is a big reason to have a Samsung phone at all.
the S21 is a killer phone. doesn't need a curve for an A+ grade. I am a mac and iPhone user and this phone is better than iPhone 12 in every way possible outside of iMessage.

Hey Kevin, very good in depth review. I use the S21+. The 888processer is blazing fast. Do I miss the 1440p display, not really. This is Samsung were talking & their displays are the absolute best? Cameras & 🔋are very good. And yeah, there are compromises but still a great phone!
I’ve yet to see any of the so-called “compromises” to be anything of the sort. The stuff removed was stuff that didn’t see popular use. Sure, there’s that power user now and then, but not as common as UA-cam would have us believe.
If you’re not keeping your charger from your last phone, maybe you’re the problem? Keep your damned chargers people; you won’t (and don’t) need to keep buying new ones! Use that old one until it doesn’t work AT ALL, and then recycle it. The last thing we need is more filler for the landfills (or islands of trash floating around certain oceans; there’s no deity coming to eat that up, or whatever, people have to clean it up). And this whole not understanding that you’re paying that price for a handheld computer that can fit in your pocket and take 4k videos just shows how spoiled people are getting. Don’t give me another charger, I’ve got more than I need (to the point that, yes, I’ve given some away when someone needs one). Use your “old” one; it works just as well as the same damned thing being sent out with the next device model.
Is face unlock reliable, is NFC snappy, does the phone get warm, is there a lip where the frame meets the screen, are haptics good or no, is auto brightness accurate? 10 minutes in and none of these answers.
It's not a downgrade for me because I never had the Galaxy S20 I just got the Galaxy S21 plus and I like it I compared the Cameras with my pixel 5 the pictures look pretty much the same to me

the only critique I have is you mention no 3mm headphone jack but don't cover the topic beyond that. As an audio engineer that is a big downside as BT will never ever equal a physical headphone. Sorry Android felt compelled to join the idiots at Apple in this regard.
The removing of features is never a good thing. Be it SD card support, headphone jack or chargers included in the box. See for me, I would prefer to not have a charger included but keep the se card support and headphone jack. At least with the charger, you can buy one separately. You can’t do that with the SD card support. Furthermore, I much prefer having my photos on my SD card rather than paying Google to access my own photos. It’ll probably end up getting the s21, at the same time these things need to be said. I’m probably not gonna go high end Samsung or Apple because though. I for one am tired of their shenanigans. I’m sure it won’t be long until Apple puts out a port less phone and forces people to use MagSafe.
Don’t forget next time check out Samsung’s website. If your current device is paid off (and new enough) you can get a pretty nice trade in discount by ordering directly from them. Their device protection is reasonably priced, too!

I did it , samsung had a pretty good offer with trade in . I personally enjoy it more than my S20 , I really love the flat screen , comfortable in the hands . But tbh theirs some minor difference I don't think you'd notice too much , the touch id def got better as well . I'd say do it on a good promo if you can afford it .

The thing is I want a phone to make calls and not play children games. Not one view tells you anything about the calls and audio quality. I had to go to a friend's house to find out. Didn't like the view. I bought one. Very good call quality and I'm happy with it. For gamers I don't know butmcalling friends is the way to go for me..
My s10 cannot software update & I had to factory reset it several times to get it to work normally. Now it does work but can still not install software update & sometimes apps keep crashing. I want to upgrade to the S21 but my current S8 only supports 15 watt. Nobody throws away chargers for no reason, that's just a dumb excuse all these companies give so people buy more from them.
I just brought the s21 from a LG 6, l love it alot the 128GB on board which is a plus for me. No spen is great I never used it before. No charger is fine I brought a wireless charger so it's a good thing

I went from a s10 to s21 and it isn't a downgrade at all, the battery is miles better, the phone is faster, the 120hz refresh rate is fantastic make the phone feel so smooth, the FHD panel is bright and sharp the cameras are excellent.
The regular S21 would be the one I would go for because of the lighter weight and the lower price with a great camera system. This question is for anyone reading this, If you’ve been using a no notch or punch hole phone do you find it hard to switch to newer devices that have a punch hole? I’m a one plus 7 pro user and it’s really seems like a magical device. For the price you can’t go wrong with the value 300 vs 800 😬. I feel like it comes down to which software experience you prefer honestly.

I've had 2 faulty phones so far battery drain in 5 hour ecco on calls dose not connect to WiFi or gprs right
