    6:40 I think the focus should be on vpd instead of temp or humidity alone. It’s an index after all. Even if you’re not at 60, you can still achieve the same vpd by going higher humidity if it’s hotter or a lower humidity if you are in a colder area.

    I just wanted to thank you for inspiring and motivating me to get into growing medicine for myself and my family. I always looked at growing and everything I saw was bottled nutrients, 5ml of this, 15ml of that, and it was intimidating not gonna lie. Your videos and living soil seem a lot more straight forward to me. And I've always been into doing things naturally, so the build a soil way just made sense the first video I saw. Appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us and pushing us to just go for it homie!

    You're 100% right about the auto flower triggers. Maybe some sort of enzyme/hormone in the roots then sends signal to become more generative almost instantly? Always had better luck with autos growing in more volume of media.

  • @thekushman6227
    @thekushman6227 Рік тому +13

    The autos triggering early was definitely from the cups and root restrictions. It's like once the roots find the container bottom they jump over to flower. I made that mistake as well! And everyone came at me like it was common knowledge 😭 lol

    When I do my autos, I start them in plugs under a dome and at the first root poking out I drop it into the life cycle pot. I can keep conditions ideal, it doesn't really notice the transplant because the root has just barely made it out of the plug, and I can make sure it's a viable seed instead of wasting a potful of dirt for a failed sprout. It's been getting really good results for me so far. I'm not an expert by any means but it works for me.

    Jeremy - easier for the cup-in-cup thing is to just take large scizzors and cut a slit down two opposing sides of the clear cup. It'll drain, the outer cup will hold it together, but at transplant you can open it like a clamshell and remove the thing without turning it upside down and getting soil everywhere.

No deficiencies. Temperature has been perfect the past few days on cycle. White popcorn buds are starting to shoot orange/pink hairs. Most the stems and even into the lower stems are crimson in color, very healthy. Namaste.

      You have to be very careful if you are going to transplant autos. You can't veg them as long as you normally would an auto in a solo cup before transplant.. Basically you have to transplant right as the 3 node is appearing. So that way the roots haven't had time to fill the cup and the tap root should just be starting to hit bottom...
      But you are correct mostly in the fact that too much root zone stress will cause a auto to flower earlier then if started in a final pot.

    • @soulseeker42388
      @soulseeker42388 Рік тому +1

      @@horstseehofer7130 even in dwc when the root zone becomes too stressed you will start flower early. Ie like a kraky method or even having your roots fill the resivor so much that the roots start finding the air source ( pump airstone filter...ect) but ultimately done right yes you could possibly wind up with a bigger plant on average because it doesn't have to use the energy to push through soil

    I haven't grown any autos myself. I do help new growers and they do. It's very popular for new growers to jump on whatever hype. Autos have been hyped for a little while now. It seems like it dosent take much to get them triggered. Anything out of the ordinary seems to do it. Nutrients included. They want the same enviroment and situation the whole time. Not very forgiving. This is why I don't mess with them. I will say the best I've seen has come from well controlled hydro setups. It's so easy to uptake nutes that if you hit the sweet spot they get huge. Hydro just blows them up. Soil seems to really slow them down if it's not dialed in specifically to what they like. From my experience as a soil grower I just grow photos. If I want a small plant I can stilll have it.

    Also I’ve heard that what you call down time for a soil to be sitting there is called cooking it. Basically it gives the microbes a chance to create more available nutrients and can greatly enrich the soil for the next grow to come. This is good unless you go to nutrient lockout. I test my run off water for ppm count hydroponic style with soil plants so I know what the plants really experience with super good response all the way around. Control the soil feed to hydroponic schedules for THE best smoke.

    Honestly with the number of plants that I cycle per year it is much easier for me to use three or five gallon pots containing 18 to 24 inch plants each yielding 3 oz approximately. I bounce between square and round pots and use a simple Coco Pearl based organic medium. I am able to do a synganic grow style giving me organic quality with mineral yields. Truly it is 90 plus percent organic inputs. But in order to not be wasteful that soil gets collected and used outside for all of my outdoor growing purposes after being used in an indoor cycle. It gives me a great base to start with as I expand my planting beds Outdoors and then I can always add extra compost, worm castings, and other mediums to my liking. I grew up with the older generation that went through the depression so believe me I understand waste not want not. And I believe that most people who truly enjoy growing medicinals also end up expanding from indoors to outdoors and from medicinals to vegetables and other flowers. Might as well get as much mileage as we can from our products that we purchase right?

    If you use the square jiffy pots to plant or seed in then u can place that in to ur soil the plant will grow and the roots will go through the jiffy pot and theres no stunting of the plant

    Purple stems is a Mg chlorose … Mg is the central molecule in the photosynthesis process and gets used at first… It’s mostly too much light indoor and a lack of Mg outdoor…

    Im glad your on the natural solutions, so many people are just happy to throw poisons and chems down to destroy pests, and have no idea, when you do that you might solve one problem but cause many more as a result, always use nature against nature theres always an answer, everything will stay healthy

    Try hydrogen peroxide for the chapin/sprayer!! Little bit of H2O2 swirled around across all inner surface area then pressurized and left to sit for a few min before being passed through the nozzle then flushed with clean water works wonders!!! Sanitizes and completely clears out any of that lingering funk odor that tends to stick to plastic!!!

    Awesome series as always guys, each series gets better and more informative, don't ever stop! Now for my question- What is your expert opinion on fox-tailing? I get it on most of my buds closest to my light, on almost every grow, which I have put down to light stress, as I'm working in very tight limitations in regards to my groom dimensions. I just wanted to know your opinion on whether you think it is a good/bad sign, and whether the additional growth is simply 'extra' bud growth and just as good to smoke as the rest of the plant? Thanks for your awesome efforts guys, very much appreciated!

    Hey Jeremy!
    I think your autos will be fine. The only way to really screw up is IMHO to put them from 24/7 into a 12/12 tent once they started flowering. I mean, there is people running regular autos, so they have to sex before they transplant. It will be okay.

    I good example of roots not looking sunlight...is everywhere a trees roots are exposed..due to the ground level being washed away in nature ... The roots that are out of the ground exposed to sunlight will cover themselves with bark ... But not if you cover them back up with more soil or Cardboard. ... Or your super soil.. or mulch.. .. my girl gave me a plastic ball for Christmas that opens and closes like a locket and it's about the size of a racquetball it's designed to fill up with the soil shave off the bark of a branch of a fruit tree that you like or skin off your cannabis and lock it around the branch and it will root while it's still apart of the tree or the bush. And when you see the roots on the inside of the plastic ball then you can chop the branch off where you'd like and I'd do a long ass branch. So the whole thing will start rooting after the plug that I made ... But I had no idea how to use it until last night ... And this little temu plastic clone ball is genius. I can't wait to try it on a lower branch crawling across the ground... I'll fill it with a little bit of soil mycorriza skin the plant and lock the ball around it and on the top it has a little funnel the where you can add drops of water if you need to while it's locked around the plant. It's pretty neat. I couldn't tell it for us what you did with it because it was round. I'm like if you put a clone in there just going to fall over. I didn't realize you left the clone on the tree or on the bush until it filled that whole ball up with the roots and then you could choose where you put that ball on ...so you could choose to have a long ass root branch underneath it. When you finally chop it off. I started dreaming about it all night. It's a great invention ..

I set my blumat 4 year ago and still have ZERO ISSUES WHATSOEVER I have gone through more light set up’s than I have problems with blumat. I strongly recommend retrying the blumat- I use a Maxi Carot towards the middle (touches the bottom) and another regular carot for top moisture and it’s LEGIT

    I've seen so many different explanations, my own personal was the temps were getting too low at night.

    • @forklifttony
      @forklifttony Рік тому

      Sometimes it is temperature related and sometimes it's just genetics in my experience. I've had GG4 plants in 80° temps that were black as night, but I also know that a lot of industrial grows with subpar genetics will use ice cubes on the soil and cold temps to get the purple color that sells in the dispos.
      I'm in a colder zone, so a lot of outdoor plants around here will purple as nighttime temps drop. My theory is that because darker color absorbs more light and heat, the plants use the coloring to hold heat and make the most of what sun it gets as autumn comes sweeping in.
      Growing, for me, is fascinating and enjoyable and will put you in time with nature as the time goes on. Happy growing!

    100% stress related. Nectar's Herc Harvest is my preferred calcium on the market. Bugs, rootbound, overwatering, lack of calcium will all induce purple stems.
