Hello Phil, I've just finished my train spotting session at Maitland and will have the video up soon, I really enjoy your videos, they inspired me to be a train Spotter, I've loved trains since I was 1 years old
Crazy to believe that the v sets are the oldest trains to still be in service, entering service in 1970. I never knew they were that old as they looked modernish to me, at least more modern than c sets, k sets etc. The last batch of v sets were ordered in 1989 as well.
If you had to guess, how many eshays did you see on your journey through the mountains and on the streets? It was my biggest achievement moving away from a place that’s being overtaken with horrendous gremlins. Lovely views but crap kids
Do the V sets have different assigned sectors? Cause I have never seen V10 or V25, V32 or V2 on the central coast and other sets like V50 and V42 are never seen in the blue mountains.
Are they replacing those old Katoomba trains with a new fleet? If they are, that would be good, and maybe they're just waiting until the Government can satisfy 'hard to please Alex Claassens'.
The Govt has been refusing to talk to Alex Claassens this entire time, and has shut down the network several times without any justification. It is quite possibly the most incompetent display a NSW Govt has put on in decades, Perrottet's Govt needs to go
@@raph6931 partially agree. when something breaks it doesn't happen very often but it's very bad due to lack of spare parts. issues happen less frequently due to lack of computers.
I live in the blue mountains it's pretty average well boring. I dislike it here but least the old trains have bathrooms you can smoke or drink in. Plus Katoomba snows once a year. I rather much love these trains then the inner city ones during Mardi gra that have no bathrooms. I did live in Brisbane once and I do like how they have both the train bathrooms and wifi. But as said thier bathrooms do have smoke detectors unlike our ones. Pros and cons my man in everything
Ok, riddle me this. Watched the guard on the departing train, no station staff to flag off the train, how on earth can he assume all clear on a curved platform where he can't see the front cars. You could see two people attempting to join the front cars but couldn't get on and see them returning. That is a joke.
At Katoomba there is a guards right of way button. The csa was there you have to hold it till the train leaves the platform. If you look at the end of the station building there is 1 light and then when it cuts there are 2 lights on one is guards indicator which means the signal is green and then the guards right of way which the csa presses to say it is clear to depart
Thanks Phil. Proposed new "Goodbye" for this channel. "See you at the Bootlegger." Cheers. 😁
I like how the train timetable tells you how busy each car is on a train
This was a nice change, Phil. Going for a walk around the local shops in Katoomba was a nice change of pace.
At 3:31 there's a body piercing shop called Pierced Off. I love a pun in a shop name.
Love the v sets purple interior , miserable day there , good bakery whether, go a meat pie now , great work Phil 👍
Those pizzas are named after the stations that’s so unique I also love your train vlogs thanks Phil

nothing wrong with the v sets and i think most people would agree they are the most comfortable to travel on.
@@xpt V Sets are too old, they are incredibly expensive and increasingly difficult to maintain

@@xpt doesn't really matter if you agree, the Govt has outlined in reports that the V Sets are becoming very hard and very expensive to maintain
