JJRichards Front load DAF’s

I kinda like these DAF trucks, not my favourite but they’re better than some of the other trucks going around these days! I’ve managed to find two of these JJR ones in Geelong recently and I’ve been filming them a bit, I had intended to on both occasions to get a video of just one of these trucks on its own but never got a decent amount of footage so I thought I’d combine them both together.
Cheers to both the legendary drivers in this video but also to the usual driver who has the garbage run, he was being filled in for by the guy in the video.

Didn’t realise there were any JJR FL trucks around with that old branding still! I love that bin where all the cardboard didn’t come out and he just left it, he doesn’t seem to get out of the truck at all to move bins or anything. Nice shot of that older truck, the one with the new branding looks alright too. Drivers seemed pretty friendly. Good video.

Have seen them around, first time actually filming them properly though. Yeah haha my ocd when that happened tho lol! Much better when it’s smooth action instead of stopping and starting with positioning bins and stuff. Drivers were really good, the garbage driver gave me a hat and some mini bins lol. Cheers mate

Excellent job putting this one together mate, a very cool watch! Great to see not one but two of these DAFs in action, in the process you even included two JJR paint schemes, modern version and original style. Love the mix of early morning and daylight footage too, get to experience what the trucks look like in both settings. Thing I've really taken a liking to about these DAFs is their engine sound, they've got an awesome diesel rumble when they take off... in general these particular models have got a nice growl and loud note to them, definitely good character for a front lift! Really seemed to gun it forward around the 2:25 mark haha Bugger about the partial empty on that second bin too, but I guess the driver wouldn't have known there was more in the bin after that big chunk fell out. It was also sweet seeing all the arrival and departure shots you got of the trucks, seeing them showing up and taking off is just as enjoyable as the bin lifting itself! Particularly appreciated the tight turn into the lane around 7:50 and then the closer view of the squeeze when he was reversing out at 9:20, really shows where these monsters need to potentially get in and out of. Even showed a bit of the handling involved getting the containers into place, whether that be with the hands or mucking around with the tines haha The scales they fit on the front loaders these days really gives a chunky appearance where the fork cylinders join on, makes me wonder how much tare weight they add. Got all the typical steel bin sizes included in this video as well for extra variety, nice work.
