      @HighwayToHill  3 роки тому

      @@lanzehn2385 I just purchased a new Rolon Chain/Sprocket assembly kit. My next video is the unboxing of this kit and then subsequently I will try and do a review also. I'm currently at 33000 kms. It can go longer on the R3 but seems like my chain is bent due to some issue.

    • @HighwayToHill
      @HighwayToHill  3 роки тому

      @@lanzehn2385 18000 is less but see it depends on lot of factors. How you are riding, how you are cleaning, lubing and maintaining the chain. Keeping the right slack. I clean, lube and adjust slack every 700-800 kms. Just check the chain, whether it is straight or not. Check the sprocket teeth condition. If you think it looks bad. Change it. Some weird sound is already there so might not be in a great condition.

      @@HighwayToHill Thank you for your reply! I've been looking to upsize the tires on my bike, I just came back from Siremull Hirachand, it's easy to miss their shop from Mount Road, being new to Madras didn't help 😅.
      I was looking to replace my stock MRF Zappers with Michelins at the rear when the shopkeeper told me to upgrade my non radial front tires too, but suggested me to go with the Alpha H1s.
      I was aware with the existence of these tyres, that's it, I didn't know how they perform under different conditions, how they corner etc, I didn't know how they compare to the Michelin Pilot Street, so I came over here. Your reviews are really helpful. I am watching your dry grip video.

    Do u recommend using this tyre on NS 200? I am thinking of upgrading my ns 200 tyre to 150 as i really think 130 is a bit too narrow for rear. What adjustments should be made to ns 200 to accomodate this tyre? And what would be advantage/disadvantages and possible riding feel difference? Thanks in advance.

    • @HighwayToHill
      @HighwayToHill  3 роки тому +1

      I know a lot of riders are using Apollo Alpha H1 on NS200. No modifications needed. But honestly I don't think it's needed. Steel belted W rated tyres are an overkill for NS200. Also, expensive. Won't last too long. It's heavier so it may be noticeable on a light weight bike like NS200. And height will reduce. Upsize to 140. Wider tyre doesn't necessarily mean that you will get better cornering.

    • @HighwayToHill
      @HighwayToHill  3 роки тому +2

      Ummm.. Actually I didn't feel that way. I'm satisfied with these tyres. I did a Coorg trip recently and rode a lot in the hills. Always felt great. Apollo doesn't have 140/70 for the R3. S1 is 130/70. 150 is not too wide to be honest. Anything beyond this might affect the cornering. And wider tyre doesn't mean better cornering. Cheers mate 😇

    explained the things well but @4:42 such small line can't freely pass away water specially in motion, also see that even that fine groove line is not that deep and after about 5 to 7K kms you have let the small and big slot/groove but not that connecting fine line.

    • @HighwayToHill
      @HighwayToHill  8 місяців тому

      Hey... great to see your comment on my video. Thanks! If you are talking about the siping lines.... Ya you are correct, it won't help in water flow. It's more for traction. However, on this tyre it's right at the edge. Not very usable. Normal riders anyway won't lean so much

    I installed Ceat Zoom Rad X1 on my Duke 250 because it was slightly cheaper and I don't do any touring.
    The tyre is fine in dry weather and its horrible in wet weather. What's the technical reason behind this poor wet grip?

    • @HighwayToHill
      @HighwayToHill  2 місяці тому +1

      @@mjacobim Could be the compound itself. The composition of the material used or maybe it is just hard by nature. Silica is more flexible, if it has Silica added then grip might be better than just all carbon black. How they mix these two may also be a factor. Not working well in cold conditions but like you mentioned, it is good in dry. Grooves also matter... It should push out water effectively and quickly. I can see in photos that the tyre doesn't have sipes so that can also be a factor but it is not necessary that without sipes the wet weather grip will be bad. It will help to disperse water. So these are some factors. Hope it helps 😎🙌
