Looks great. This will help any car sim driver hugely in the importance of line setup… bikes really need to hit the fist point to make a good pass where as people think you can correct the car more later but this is all 10ths adding up.
The Itailian Moto Paton (pronounced like 'pa-taughn') was US$80k when I requested a quote for the bike in 2001... still being made to order. An 8-valve twin monster and raced in-period. Very awesome bike!
No Macau GP circuit?? For shame sir!! But joking aside, this game seems to be filling quite a niche. I hope there are regular updates and a customise function where you can make liveries from yesteryear, such as Wayne Gardner's Coughmans Honda, Wayne Rainey's M*rlb*r* Yamaha and even Fast Freddie Spencer's Goodyear express and Barry Sheene's Team Heron Suzuki. I also wanna see Cal Crutchlow's Tech 3 Monster Yamaha as a fitting tribute to the World's Fastest Coventrian.
Being someone who has both raced cars and motorcycles IRL I never had an issue jumping into most sims for cars. I gave Ride 4 about 5hrs of my time to just drop it. Gorgeous graphics but the game didn't leave me feeling like I was riding a motorcycle like a car game would. If anything it just frustrated me. For me it had nothing to do with the front and rear break feel or the throttle it was the way the bike leaned in. I can lean in SOOO MUCH faster IRL than in the game if I wanted or needed to. I guess what I'm saying is I couldn't get the bike to go where I wanted it to. I think games have a long way to go for motorcycles. Maybe its ok for people who don't ride IRL IDK. Just my opinion as someone with experience. I'm not the best Motorcycle rider. I am a very skilled driver and could hold my own against the best.
Thanks for posting! Worth watching your review just to see a TZR250 from lots of angles. I didn't think the 2 stroke engine sound was at all bad.👍😂😂 When was the last time you changed the brake fluid? It looks a bit milky.😂😂😂 You should look around for an old FZR4 or 600 and spend the Winter giving it a clean up or respray for use next year! 👍😂😂
Some of the newer Milestone games use machine learning AI to learn the tracks. It's a cool concept and really racing AI is the perfect use case for ML, but it can definitely be implemented poorly in these early stages. Who knows, they may get improve slightly after dozens of laps, but they likely need patches to make the training models take passing/defending lines into account better.
Right now I have Ride 2 and 3 and will probably wait for a good sale price on ride 5. I think you are handling the race as good as you can and since the AI bikes are aggressive and bump you around, I feel we have to pretty much do the same back to the AI bikes. Just kind of nudge them around to do your passes. I wonder what would happen if a real race biker would hit the back tire of another biker. Probably the outcome would not be too good. I am more of a SIM race car driver than a SIM biker, so I agree with managing a SIM bike around the track is a new learning curve. Glad they have more AI bikes to race against in Ride 5. I do these games just for a change of paste and entertainment. The only thing about all these "Ride" games is I wish they would give us all the bikes and tracks right at the very start. It is kind of ridiculous that we have to spend thousands of hours trying to unlock everything. Especially when I just do quick races and time trials. Not much in to doing Career mode in any games. Thanks for the video review. Take care.
Honestly, the promise of a deep and interesting single player career mode, especially featuring endurance races, has me curious for this game. Is it worth a pickup for someone who loved traditional Gran Turismo career modes but was massively underwhelmed by the likes of GT7? Bearing in mind Ive generally enjoyed riding and racing in the recent MotoGP games 😊
Late, but in my opinion Gran Turismo does career better. It appears the same in concept to GT but it's not executed as well. The championships/events feel monotone and hardly have a theme like in GT (or it's too open of a theme) and after the couple beginning races they really start to drag on to about 10mins per race, and with kamikaze AI you have to have rewind on unless you're a masochist which makes stuff take even longer. AI flat out cheats in wet quali where they set laptimes that they barely run in the dry. On the plus side the bikes look great and physics are an improvement over Ride 4, the bikes are enjoyable to ride. Game's best if you just go to single race mode and set up your own race how you like it, because career gets boring halfway through.
As someone that has ridden on the track with a motorcycle, its more accurate to have it stabilized. Only thing I'd change is more wind noise. A big part of your sense of speed on a bike is the wind noise. Also that kickstand dragging in the corners is annoying me though, they would have removed that for the track if it was a race only bike.
Lmao for real man. Bike video games will never be realistic when compared to real life track riding. I have completed several track days along with attending advanced riding schools
It looks great. I do have a question though. In terms of physics and ride feel. Nothin up til now that I've tried, (all motogp games) topped Polyphony’s (Makers of Gran Tourismo) Tourist Trophy. If you've ever played that, how does ride5 compare? Anyone else?
I played Ride 4 and the physics were so easy it bored me to death so I uninstalled it and went back to Tourist Trophy. My suggestion would be to stick with Tourist Trophy.
Really glad to see you covering the 'Ride' games. I've definitely been enjoying your bike content. Really looking forward to seeing more of Ride 5 on channel assuming the devs can tweak the AI a bit.
I can't ride with the level view like that. From the beginning (GP500) I always like being locked to the bike. I get a far better feel for the corners that way.
My oldest bike (1983 Suzuki GSX1100) is the only bike I have with a gear indicator. My newest is a Ninja and it also doesn't but has an LCD screen which I find strange. Without an indicator you spend a bit more time keeping an eye on the Tacho. That said big bore bikes will accelerate in any gear.
I just downloarded this today and looking forward to playing it. About the AI, I'll see if I can spot what you mentioned about their lines and so on, but that said, your lines were a little eratic too. LOL
Love the motorcycle content! The single file thing is odd. Been playing on Xbox, 90% AI set to pressing, my AI are always going crazy passing each other. I almost never see them line-up..especially the way they did into T1 for you🤷♀️
Love how smooth it looks in 1st person. I'm using the conventional Xbox controller and in 1st person it's much to hectic because you can't fully control the bike that smoothly...😞 Years ago Thrustmaster had a bike controller. Which they would do it again. Wheel maybe smoother but controlling a bike with a wheel seems even more weird than with a controller to me.
Yes ...when you replay a race in helmet or cockpit mode, it looks absolutely incredible and you just think 'i wish I could play the game like this' and not go off track every few seconds....
2 strokes smoke on acceleration, this game looks good my last was ride 3 I don't get much time to play these day's. Try to use the slip stream more often, It will help with your speed on the straights.
"The AI love to run you over, and it's also extremely easy to run them over because they race very very odd." I see Ride's developers took notes from Polyphony because that sounds exactly like GT7's lol
I’m so confused. A lot of people say GP is the best motorcycle sun. I tried 19 and through it felt terrible! Felt like the bike floated along the track. I’ve owned motorcycles and maybe wasn’t a pro rider but IMO ride 4 by far felt the most realistic.
Fyi, “bicilindrica” is pronounced as be - chi (like chicken) - leen (like spleen) - drea (like dream but with an hard R) - ca (as in car). It means “twin cylinder”.
You have right it feels easier.on the brakes.we can so long so hard brake but not fall.maybe wirh a update a little bit more direction ride 4.more harder please
Thanks for this review. To me, I have to say - I am not happy with the graphics. They are too clean. They are often a bit blurry or not shiny enough to give you the realism you need to get this feeling that it isn't just a game when I see it. I think in these times - it is possible to give a realistic look at it. But there are no scratches , no fine details. Looks a BIT like low poly graphic to me.
I’ve only played Ride 4, been riding motorcycles for a few years now. It seems like I can corner faster on my real motorcycle than the game. Steering in Ride 4 doesn’t quite feel right. I’ll have to see if 5 is any better
Hmmm. We are very different players, that's for certain. Edit: I want to be clear as a kind of tl;dr; that I mean no offense or disrespect herein. I'm just legitimately confused by some of the things you (op) bring up. It is very possible that at your level of play you are seeing/feeling things in the game that I am not skilled enough to see or feel. I'm a very casual player. Ride 4 was fun for me, but I couldn't quite get it to feel right (for *me*). But Ride 5 just seems to work for me. I don't know whether I hit the assist settings just right (that I couldn't get right in 4), but I'm definitely enjoying it. I actually think you kind of alluded to it a bit in the beginning when you said something to the effect of it feeling subtly different. I was having the same conversation with a friend. I think it dampens some of your inputs VERY slightly so that if you aren't smooth, your bike doesn't jerk about. And imo that helps a LOT especially on a controller. You stated being very unimpressed, and it playing very similar to Ride 4 (which you like) and then turn around and lament it even "being released in this state." This genuinely confused me. You like 4. You say 5 plays like 4. And then you say 5 is trash (that last is MY interpretation of what you said). I'm objectively not sure what you're looking for. Also one very random thing - you called the Daytona layout weird or wonky or something like that. I have watched a lot of IMSA 24hr there and the track layout seemed right to me. I think there was one small sequence of turns that was mildly different, but in career the announcer made some reference to the "bike layout" which would explain (to me) that small difference. So legitimately curious what you see as wrong with the Daytona layout?
In Ride 4 the AI would always take you out from behind just before cornering. Judging by your race it looks like it has been fixed in Ride 5 hopefully.
I saw ride 4 on sale for about £8 and took a plunge two weeks ago. My PS5 has been a glorified gran turismo machine so been enjoying the change. What a challenge bike games are. Until I found your channel, I had convinced myself that they are impossible to play😂😂😂. Time get practicing I guess. I think I am going to stay with this genre alongside GT
You do a great job on the controls, I have ridden for years on and off track, but I can’t get the motorcycle game controller down, too touchy, although I got the hang of rims racing down pretty well, I don’t have milestone game control
Would like to try and make a multiclass race. 250 strokers v powerful heavy 750s, they ran in goodwood a few times absolutely amazing close race would recommend.
I played for like 4 hours yesterday. It almost identical to ride 4 ps5 version. The cut scenes are so horrible in the faces and what not. I was tempted to get tt3 instead.
TT3 is a cracking game if you’re a big fan of the TT and the circuit. The novelty of the free roam feature wears off fairly quick but for me I could do lap after lap of the main circuit and do 🤣
I don't get how in Ride 5, you don't lowside if you slammed the brakes mid corner anymore. Unlike in Ride 4, where if you slam the brakes or open the throttle aggressively without any traction control you can lose the rear and lowside easily. In Ride 4, you must be very careful with your inputs but in Ride 5 it feels like I'm still playing with the easiest physics even when it's turned to the highest difficulty setting.
I just don't get it... Why realistic physics "is not fun"? And why exactly the game should be dead serious about EVERYTHING if it has proper physics in it? People have fun IRL with *real* bikes, you know - you can't get any more realistic than that. Still fun somehow... Or not? Should it absolutely be a brain dead kind of entertainment to be "fun"?
Real shame they haven't sorted the AI. By far the worst element of Ride4, which I played the hell out of. Like that they've increased the grids - as you say, an endurance race with the tiny number of other riders was dull as hell and it'd be better if they could get even more in, but only if the AI is improved. As for Sim/Arcade, as someone who rides sportsbikes and occasionally tracks them too, I don't get the point of super accurate PC sims for motorcycling. With car stuff, you can accurately represent the control inputs even if you're missing the G force. With a bike, the nuances of weight placement, how you apply force to each contact point and the physical interaction of your weight with the bike weight transfer are so intrinsic to how it works, even with a full bike and hydraulic leaning rig, you can't simulate that. So something like this that tries to get the reactions of the bike/rider platform pretty close, with how you have to fudge the input for it to make sense on a controller in a static environment, seems to me to be the sweet spot.
the puff of smoke from the bikes Infront of you is completely normal because these bikes are 2 strokes ..they burn engine oil as they go . that's just the way they are.
The only bike game i ever put any time into is Manx TT for Sega Saturn. So it has been awhile! I have been curious about the Ride series lately because they older ones are regularly on sale for a few bucks.
Did they C&P the tire bug from 4 too? In endurance Races that start dry and then rain kicks in, you could not pick wet tires but the AI could. Milestone they do bike games for 20 years or more but still don't care.
As someone who actually raced motorcycles.....Ride 4 controls was horrendous..not even close to realistic. I wish that it wetre better bc I really want to love it... Although that track selection looks fantastic with Infineon - Sears Point being my home
Having only a few new bikes so far from Ride 4 shouldnt be a criticism as ride 5 seems to have all the DLC bikes from Ride 4 as standard. So i am sure they will chuck out a lot of DLCs with different machinery.
It still amazes me that Milestone have managed to release Ride 3 for a third time.

This will help any car sim driver hugely in the importance of line setup… bikes really need to hit the fist point to make a good pass where as people think you can correct the car more later but this is all 10ths adding up.
I never thought about it like this. Thanks for sharing this information.
When you revved the engine UA-cam's auto-translate showed "[foreign music]"
This is the first time YT translate has been accurate 😹
If your TZ suffers from brake fade it's time to change your brake fluid, pretty dark. Good review!
The Daytona course in this game was used for bikes between 2004 and 2008, so it's not completely made up, just... Very outdated.
The Itailian Moto Paton (pronounced like 'pa-taughn') was US$80k when I requested a quote for the bike in 2001... still being made to order. An 8-valve twin monster and raced in-period. Very awesome bike!
Nice first Play about the game but you're killing me about the smoke. Those are two strokes they're supposed to smoke lol
7:35 20 bike grids are pretty large but hearing "not impressive" makes me go "how much is enough".
I had that TZR250 in real life.. awesome bike
Thank you for this you have saved me buying a game I already have in ride4 🤣🤣🤣😝
As a long time biker and motorcycle enthusiast this game is 100% awesome.
Thanks for posting! Worth watching your review just to see a TZR250 from lots of angles. I didn't think the 2 stroke engine sound was at all bad.👍😂😂
When was the last time you changed the brake fluid? It looks a bit milky.😂😂😂
You should look around for an old FZR4 or 600 and spend the Winter giving it a clean up or respray for use next year!
That's what they say. In reality it's the same old dumb AI they've been using for many years. Milestone is full of shit.
Take care.
These sims have such a high learning curve and I’ve tried many times to get into them.
Ah, did they they remove Phillip island? That's my local track, I was so pleased to see it in Ride 4, that's a bummer...
You've got a really nice voice and I think you're right about motorbike games.
The horizontal plain angle never changes. The motorcycle only swoops from side to side .
This is the first racing game I've been excited for in a long time, it looks like an absolute blast to play
It's a great game but Ride 4 was as good and was expecting more from Ride 5.
I would buy it for the classics as well, having owned the rd350lc and 500 lc and the rest of the old bikes
need a free roam street bike game with simulator gameplay with high way racing between cars
VR would be amazing
This game has got less bikes than ride 4, maybe like 10 new ones and a lot of old ones removed to sell as dlc in the future. Shame
The puffs of smoke are just 2-stroke exhaust. Burnt oil.
LOL
I think it could be good to see some more bike videos, but maybe it’s one to wait and see if it improves.
Love the motorcycle content! The single file thing is odd. Been playing on Xbox, 90% AI set to pressing, my AI are always going crazy passing each other. I almost never see them line-up..especially the way they did into T1 for you🤷♀️
Yes same here on PS5, i think AI is better than in Ride4, but maybe it depends on the track, not tried VIR yet…
Love how smooth it looks in 1st person. I'm using the conventional Xbox controller and in 1st person it's much to hectic because you can't fully control the bike that smoothly...😞
Years ago Thrustmaster had a bike controller.
Try to use the slip stream more often, It will help with your speed on the straights.
love the TZR
Well done mate good work
"The AI love to run you over, and it's also extremely easy to run them over because they race very very odd."
I see Ride's developers took notes from Polyphony because that sounds exactly like GT7's lol
It looks awesome!
Awesome wow the sound is amazing on that TZR 250 2-stroke WOW. 👍👍👍 Do they have the NSR250 and RGV 250 as well as the RZV500 and RG500
I pray one day someone make a open world motorcycle game specifically for motorcycles no cars. But can tune and upgrade like forza.
I’ve only played Ride 4, been riding motorcycles for a few years now. It seems like I can corner faster on my real motorcycle than the game. Steering in Ride 4 doesn’t quite feel right. I’ll have to see if 5 is any better
*Passes by 100 bikes*
"There doesn't seem to be alot of bikes" lmao
Thanks Jake I'll stick with Ride 4. Were you using wheel and pedals again?
I am!
Loving Ride 5 so far! Too much bias against Ride 5...there are new features if you look for them.
Finally..... A proper quick shifter
Now we know precisely what the first mods are going to be for Ride 5
I saw ride 4 on sale for about £8 and took a plunge two weeks ago. My PS5 has been a glorified gran turismo machine so been enjoying the change. What a challenge bike games are. Until I found your channel, I had convinced myself that they are impossible to play😂😂😂. Time get practicing I guess. I think I am going to stay with this genre alongside GT
5:04 ok im from the Netherlands, but disapointed to not have tt assen, they can basically import it from the motogp game, but yeah, sad.
You do a great job on the controls, I have ridden for years on and off track, but I can’t get the motorcycle game controller down, too touchy, although I got the hang of rims racing down pretty well, I don’t have milestone game control
Damn, how you are so smooth with a controller
Would like to try and make a multiclass race. 250 strokers v powerful heavy 750s, they ran in goodwood a few times absolutely amazing close race would recommend.
I could only wish that Polyphony Digital release a Tourist Trophy 2 :(
Played every bikegame since Gp500. I think the Ride Series is more bikepo☆n than racinggame, like it still
I played for like 4 hours yesterday.
Roadrash style 😂 (that game was great)
For Low Spec PC, RIDE 2 s the best. For Mid High PC, Ride 4 is the best.
I am DIRECTLY interested in motorcycles. In fact, I currently ride a 2014 Triumph Daytona 675R 😎
100% agree with your point on Physics! I think they do a fine job here
Cars and Bikes. Yes please.
the puff of smoke from the bikes Infront of you is completely normal because these bikes are 2 strokes ..they burn engine oil as they go . that's just the way they are.
The only bike game i ever put any time into is Manx TT for Sega Saturn. So it has been awhile! I have been curious about the Ride series lately because they older ones are regularly on sale for a few bucks.
Tourist Trophy is still the best
Did they C&P the tire bug from 4 too? In endurance Races that start dry and then rain kicks in, you could not pick wet tires but the AI could. Milestone they do bike games for 20 years or more but still don't care.
As someone who actually raced motorcycles.....Ride 4 controls was horrendous..not even close to realistic. I wish that it wetre better bc I really want to love it...
Although that track selection looks fantastic with Infineon - Sears Point being my home
Hey, how did you get that black Arai helmet? I don't see that in the selections.
Having only a few new bikes so far from Ride 4 shouldnt be a criticism as ride 5 seems to have all the DLC bikes from Ride 4 as standard. So i am sure they will chuck out a lot of DLCs with different machinery.
Awesome game. Love your content.
Can you tell me if there are any sim rigs for bike racing like fanatech or Logitech for car racing?
looks like this game looks fun
From what I understand, you can't play ride 5 only with subscription! I am wrong?
