- In just another adventure fighting Eggman, Sonic comes across some sort of gem called a Sol Emerald, but as he goes to pick it up, some mysterious stranger jumps in from of him and takes it. To make matters worse, the space-time continuum is falling apart. Now Sonic has to uncover the mystery of this cat and new villain who looks a lot like Eggman.
This is such an aesthetically appealing art stlye.
Ah yes, The very first Sonic game I have ever played. Beings back memories.

Sonic: Eggman! What are you up to now?
Dr. Eggman: Sonic, you little pest! Soon, ultimate power will be within my grasp, and I shall be invincible!
Sonic: Ha, I may not know what your plan is, but it’s never going to work.
Dr. Eggman: I won’t forget this!
Sonic: Wait, Eggman!
Sonic: Uh? What’s this?
Sonic: What?!
Blaze: Finally, I’ve got the second one...
Blaze: Thank you for defeating him.
Sonic: Who’s that?
Sonic: Hey, what’s up?
Sonic: Eggman’s got another crazy scheme, and we saw some mysterious girl...Things are starting to get interesting, eh Tails?
Tails: Idle hands can be a dangerous thing, Sonic!
Tails: This ultimate power that Eggman spoke of...I wonder what kind of power he was talking about.
Sonic: Whatever he decided to do, we’ll stop him!
Sonic: Let’s go, Tails! I know I can always count on you!
Tails: Uh...Hey, Sonic! Wait for me!
Sonic: You won’t escape this time, Eggman!
Eggman Nega: Ha ha ha.
Sonic: Hey, what’s so funny?
Eggman Nega: I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have laughed, but you...You’re so cruel...You taunt me by not using my full title. Ha ha ha.
Sonic: What? Are you out of your mind, Eggman?
Eggman Nega: Ha ha ha. There you go again. But in the end, you will be destroyed by...Dr. Eggman Nega!

Tails: He looks just like Eggman!

Tails: Sonic, let’s go to my workshop!
Tails: There’s something I want to check out.
Sonic: Okay, let’s go Tails!
Sonic: So, have you discovered anything interesting Tails?
Tails: I-I don’t believe it! Sonic!
Tails: Something’s wrong with the space-time continuum!
Sonic: What?
Tails: There’s a tear in the space-time continuum...and it’s expanding!
Tails: If it continues to expand... the fabric of reality will become altered!
Sonic: Is this Eggman’s work!?
Tails: I don’t know...It might have something to do with Eggman Nega.
Sonic: I’m also concerned about that mysterious girl you saw, too.
Tails: Anyway, we can’t leave things as they are now, Sonic!
Sonic: Okay, let’s go, Tails!
Sonic: What’s this?
Tails: The road’s closed.
Tails: Sonic, let’s turn around and find another way!
Knuckles:Hey...H-hey!
Sonic: Huh?
Sonic: I thought I heard something.
Knuckles: H-help me!
Tails: Wha-! Knuckles!
Knuckles: I’m not feeling too good.
Tails: Knuckles, how’d you wind up getting stuck here?
Knuckles: (Oh,my head!) Wha-? It was because of her!
Tails: Who?
Knuckles: That feline with an attitude!
Knuckles: I didn’t recognize her, but she was with Cream when I spoke to her.
Sonic: Grr..!
Tails: Knuckles, where did she go?
Knuckles: Man, this makes me so angry, I want to punch something!
Knuckles: Arrrgh!
Sonic: K-Knuckles?
Tails: He’s gone, Sonic...
Sonic: You know, when Knuckles is angry...It’s always difficult to talk to him.
Tails: At least he opened the road for us.
Sonic: That’s true. Let’s go!

Anyone know when game takes place in the overall Sonic story? Since Blaze is in it, is it before or after Sonic 06? (I'm new to the series) Or is it just it's own thing?
it takes place (technically) before Sonic 06, although you shouldnt take Sonic 06 too seriously in the cannon as there are conflicting things that happen from both this and Sonic Rush Adventure, as well as the world sort of reset itself at the end, so you can pretend it doesn't exist anyway.
I'd say that Sonic 06's story is not canon but the ruined future, Soleana and all the characters are canon.
Sonic O6 came first then at the end of the game the events got erased and a new timeline got created timeline and the first game in that timeline is rush( at least that's my headcanon but rush is definitely after O6 )
